  1. Both were excellent today, and back to their best as a partnership. Wells looked tired, so many shuttle runs closing down their CBs. And a few minutes before the sub, I thought Swansea breached us between the lines for the first time, earning a corner (or two), and subs seemed sensible. Its possible Wells might also have been playing through illness too.
  2. Thank you, much appreciated. Today, Antoine was more the pass blocker into Grimes…although Conway and Wells mixed it up a bit.
  3. If we all get sent to Coventry, where do we go then! ?
  4. Loads of police vans around on my journey home.
  5. Bloody awful pass inside from Sykes!
  6. Tins wasn’t too enthused with his players not getting a chance in the first team, let’s say!!!
  7. ??? I still reckon it’s 3412. George Zak Rob (maybe Rob central) Tommy as the 10, was training there last season to cover Weimann.
  8. I’m agreeing with you in some respects, we run a two tier system…. for those players who need league experience, the young’uns (Towler, etc) Those who Nige doesn’t want / need around (Moore, etc) I very much suspect that we aren’t charging Wimbledon hardly anything at all, but we are to Shrewsbury, because Moore has x number of games at good levels. What the PL clubs are doing is asking for crazy money for kids who’ve yet to play a senior game. Heres the oldest loan players in the Champ (not all from PL clubs). I think the loan system is wrong for players aged 23+…and that’s why clubs hoard players.
  9. It’s not Saturday 3pm k/o, so we are in with a much better chance! ???
  10. As per my post at the bottom of the previous page, I believe that a big part of the reason for our decline (yes, we were struggling) was injuries. Much as I liked 5122 it was heavily dependent on a few players…who got injured, long term. Players like Sessegnon also getting injured meant Hunt played through injuries. Even Mr Reliable - Tommy Rowe - lost form and then got injured. It also highlighted that certain players can only perform when others take the strain, e.g. Nagy, but when they aren’t there to take the burden, he couldn’t raise his levels. I do think Dean was a bit naive in certain things, and he really could’ve done with a Nige figure helping him. I don’t think he got the support he deserved. Having said that I wonder how he’d have coped with the post-Covid budget constraints that Nige has. If he’d have been able to put out: Bentley Kalas Mawson Baker Hunt Williams Dasilva Weimann Paterson Wells Martin most weeks, we’d have done ok, swapping in Sessegnon, Rowe, Moore, Massengo, Nagy, Diedhiou, Semenyo, O’Dowda, etc when required. The players in bold were barely available, if available at all. Paterson, Martin and Dasilva missed large chunks too. Yes, shit happens re injuries, but it showed up the lack of true quality and character beneath the starting eleven. Instead we ended up with a shadow of that team, playing 433 and players going through the motions due to contract situations, not helped by a gossiping CEO.
  11. Very much suspect any player that goes out to Lg2 / lower has their wages heavily subsidised by us, might even be the whole lot! As for Lg1 - Moore this season, Bakinson last season, expect them to be paying a good slug of their wages for the privilege.
  12. I disagree. Initial injury to Kalas on the cup meant he never really got to play with Mawson, who then got injured in our first defeat (0-0) at the time. Then a game or two later, Weimann picked up his ACL. Paterson a bit later. Mawson was excellent in those opening games as were Andi and Pato. We had more depth then than now, but they were big players in the the “Holdenball” system. Wells and Martin looked good together too. Martin eventually injured too. Its not the only reason, but I do think it had a big impact.
  13. HMRC accepted 25p / £1. ???
  14. Wonder if we are down on revenue due to the timing of the summer gigs missing 31st May, and are part of this year’s accounts? Clutching a bit!
  15. @BS4 on Tour...Dreadnoughts make it!
  16. Dasilva - yep (£2.5m) took option Diony - yep (£8m was the rumoured figure if we went up) didn’t take option Pereira - yep (£4.5m rumoured) didn’t take option Afobe - yep (no idea on cost) didn’t take option Abraham - nope Kalas - nope Palmer - nope Woodrow - nope Mawson - nope Sessegnon - nope just trying to remember if there were any more that had an option to buy, only recall the top four. Happy for any corrections.
  17. One other point, I guess you need to do the Stoke approach if you’ve got homegrown players that you’ve sold for less than you expected, who of course you can’t impair because they have no value in the books.
  18. Ah, yes, so they did….ta. Let’s hope we see this detail in ours. Its gonna completely screw my amortisation spreadsheet!!
  19. Interesting comments re back 3 and front 2…which was the point the YouTube feed stopped last night for me. If nothing else it still highlights that we can’t evolve the squad as quickly as Nige would like and are “making do”. Not one poster on OTIB has Vyner in their preferred starting line-up, yet he’s been an ever present in the league. And he’s generally done ok too. Combo of having talkers like Naismith and Klose alongside him has helped too I’m sure.
  20. Stoke was more of an impairment / new valuation model, than Forest’s lost transfer revenue. I’m no accountant, and I guess there are pros and cons to each approach. Re the Stoke method, revaluing the assets down would create a loss in the books but allows them to write off that loss for covid. It means should they sell those players, they gain the benefit of any fee being taken against a new and lower book value, meaning future year’s transfer profit could be more. With Forest’s method it’s not changing the current book value of any players, so any sales in future will be against the existing amortisation profile. Arghhh, swings and roundabouts i guess.
  21. I agree…will be interesting how we communicate this in the books and the summary to fans. Suggests we’ve gone more down the Forest route.
