  1. I scored twice from throws-in in my time. Both at Greville Smyth park (one against Exeter Utd, one for - as a ringer!). Both got a touch from the keeper, which had he left alone would’ve been disallowed, but with attackers bearing down on him who might also have got a touch, he decided to help them on their way!
  2. Listening to both @headhunterinterview with Dicks and Jonathan Pearce’s interview on 20Man, it appears that Dicks handed responsibility for the contracts over to the board, and that they negotiated the terms, not Dicks.
  3. Just listening at the mo’….good / interesting conversation. I’d like to see Klose / Kalas on the right of Naismith, and Atkinson on the left. Two CBs who like to attack the aerial ball, wherever they are on the pitch. That’s not to diss Vyner’s performances this season, he’s improving, but as a CF I’m having an easier afternoon / evening than if Kalas is coming through me in the air, and physical on the deck.
  4. Well his brother thought it was a good idea, and….
  5. How am I supposed to choose between Mick Harford and Glyn Riley ??
  6. Someone earlier suggested Scott Davidson.
  7. Spanish bloke, Castella? (Digress, as a kid did you ever get one of those choccy cigars in a tube, in your stocking?)
  8. Back when we were playing Shuffs the Western League big spenders were Tiverton, Taunton and Mangotsfield (all playing a higher level now)…and I think they had the locale, backing and grounds to resource it, albeit likely local businesses funding it ultimately. The problem comes when that backing disappears. Money came into Brislington (after I left) and I think it changed the whole fabric of the club, from being “one club” to a first team with mercenaries and the rest of the club.
  9. Nothing positive v West Brom one game back, or PNE three games back?
  10. No, there were definitely some rumours.
  11. Since starting watching basketball properly around the same time City got back into the championship, it is easy to see how m2m can be picked off with screens and pick n rolls. The same happens in football. A good set of movement and delivery by our opponents against either m2m, zonal or combo can result in a goal conceded. On our offensive end, we need to get our delivery better.
  12. Haven’t seen anything but highlights this season, but palmer’s injury at the back end of last season was a huge loss. Glad to hear she’s back playing well.
  13. Excuse my ignorance, but isn’t the new development completely outside of Ashton Gate Ltd (Kelly’s domain)?
  14. Williams was decent enough, but the stretch for the ball from Scott, probably showed he was nearing his blowout. Wells ok, Semenyo below par for me. I thought everyone was pretty average, akthough id have persevered with Semenyo for that bit of magic.
  15. Or you go back to a Keith Burt type who was given responsibility for: - playing budgets - contracts - recruitment (in and out) I might be wrong but I don’t know if Tins has bullets 1 and 2 in his locker at first team level? Anyone know? He ran his business in Spain, so assume has some business acumen???
  16. Not the win ratio…again. The thing is people think that because I don’t go all-in Pearson is bad / sack Pearson that I’m some form of happy clapper. I’m not. I critique the performances on the pitch by the players, the decisions made pre-game, in-game by Nige (and his staff), but I think he’s doing a relatively ok job. It’s not great, but it’s not bad either. But I also look at other dynamics too, and that does buy some credit. If you want to pick a poorer run and nail yourself to that, that’s fine. Yep, we are currently in relegation form over your selected period, if that continued over a whole season. If that continues over a longer period, then maybe my view changes…but you could take the last 4 games and say we are now top 10 form (1.5 PPG) and say we are now out of that poor run. Over the season we are mid-table, you’ve totally disregarded some of our form, results, performances this season. Where did you expect us to be? What win ratio do you expect a bloke to have for a team that is mid table? What win rate do you expect a bloke to have that’s taken over a car-crash situation. Let’s compare him to XYZ manager in League One, or someone who didn’t take over the club in a downward spiral. Come on???
  17. Yes and no. Part of me thinks yes, more as a “consultant”, but the contracts, budgets, etc, that’s a no. I don’t see Tins doing that either. Tins as HoR rather than DoF makes sense. I suspect we will have people filling roles with titles that don’t quite fit the true nature of their titles in the normal world. We already have one in “Chairman”. Just move aside, and be the head of Fever Pitch, that’s his niche.
  18. They are probably in the middle third, lower end, they cut back a bit last summer when Ayew left. We shall see what all the loans costs them!
  19. One fan suggested Weimann was limping. According to Nige, Kalas had a tight calf and they decided (as a precaution) not to include him. Sensible, having just come back.
