  1. I think Holden needed support, an experienced man to bounce off…a Lenny Lawrence type man. Injuries - look at how Rennie / Pearson work together, they don’t risk the player (shit does happen though, that’s pretty unavoidable). Holden had Rolls, both admit they got pre-season wrong. I do think that Holden’s loss of Weimann and then Paterson had a big bearing on the drop off.
  2. Regardless of what we think about our final ball (of late at least), I think it’s fair to say we create more down our left than our right. Saw this earlier (in fact I check it quite regularly), but it has evolved over recent weeks. The model does show the passing teams like Burnley and Saturday’s opponents Swansea in a better light (more blue than red), but we are the only side with such an imbalance!!!
  3. Setbacks. They happen.
  4. Me too CC. Big boots to fill, might take a slightly different structure to meet the needs across the football club.
  5. As per injury thread, illness in the camp too.
  6. Naismith and Kalas not expected back this weekend, plus Nige hinting at illness and possible inclusion of more youngsters! Kalas’s tight calf added back in retrospectively to last weekend, as Nige reported precautionary, and now confirmed.
  7. Yep, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. @Mr Popodopolouscouple of excellent posts from you ??????
  8. Hope you have a great day out.
  9. Just for info, it’s a midday k/o. I only just remembered!
  10. Yeovil saying until 2nd Jan ? (assume this is a 28 day recall rather than 28 day loan???)
  11. There’s also the chance that trying to play some crap windup on the opposition actually annoys the ref and turns him against us. I think it’s a pointless exercise, wastes time and does us no favours. If it was genuinely outside then maybe it’s ok, but as a wind-up, it makes me cringe a bit.
  12. Quite interesting that Woodgate in as assistant having been sacked by them as manager previously.
  13. I would be disappointed if the question wasn’t asked, nor answered honestly. Even if that is “it is still being worked through…..”. It would be nice to know the timeframe if not yet known.
  14. Looks like Carlos Corberan might be the new manager.
  15. The dangers of being a swift attacking team is not being patient when you play against teams who slow you down. We don’t probe for openings, we want to do it in one pass. We don’t move the opposition defence around. We don’t create space for a late midfield run (hence why our midfielders don’t score many), etc etc. I think had we shown more patience against Reading we walk out with a 0-0, a lacklustre 0-0 maybe, but we might also get Reading fans on their back too. We had a little period in the first half where the game might’ve turned, but we didn’t carry it on. Swansea are a possession heavy side. If we press high we need to be ready to get back into shape very quickly if our press is broken.
  16. All fair points. I’m just wondering what Blackburn, Luton, Preston (etc) fans thought of their team’s performances against us this season. There is such a mix of teams in terms of styles, albeit plenty of squads of not dissimilar ability, you can see why we (and others) get swings in results. As the league continues to take shape: taking the league into three chunks, you can see that we are in about the right place. Generally getting a good points return against the bottom 8, not many against the top 8, and holding our own in the middle 8, of which we are one. Improvements to be made, for sure. In slightly poorer form in our last half of games than first half, but also 6 points in last 4…albeit the losses were poor(er) performances which is frustrating. But even Reading (a) was nowhere near as bad as Brum (a). For me we should never see a Brum type performance, but I accept there will be days where we don’t click, look a bit sterile.
  17. In all seriousness…is it Grobelaar, Grobbelar, Grobellaar….with the OTIB spelling police, best to name your threads as vaguely as possible!
  18. So did I, same reasons. Although Mick will always be the first City player I adored.
