  1. Over past few years most broadcasters have dumbed down their bit rates and it's becoming, as you say, more noticeable. The standard definition I used to get from BT Sport on our projected large screen was more than watchable. Switch to any standard definition music channel, for instance, Now 70/80/90s and it is woeful. Kerrang isn't too bad in standard def!
  2. Could be that +1 channels aren't normally in HD. There's obviously a difference between HD and SD.
  3. BREAKING NEWS... PINTER2 HAS JUST BEEN REDUCED BY £20. If anyone is interested, please PM me and you can get a further £20 off with an introductory code from me. We both gain from this!
  4. Ex Man Utd manager is now a lawyer?
  5. Didn't John co-commentate for either BBC Bristol or HTV at the Wembley final against Bolton? I remember him saying, "It's there, it's there" when we scored.
  6. Apparently, the Pinter guys eventually turned down the Dragon's offer. However, here's the latest behind the scenes news. https://www.thegrocer.co.uk/movers/former-camden-boss-keary-is-made-md-at-home-brewer-pinter/664183.article The concept of freshly made croissants? https://tarlabakes.com/ From the new Pinter MD!
  7. Depends. I'm sure people in the past have said," I've betted on a couple of crackers at Uttoxeter today." They are horses after all. I think your legal team would approve that you were referring to the gee gees!
  8. I arranged my stag do around City playing at Bloomfield Rd. The game was awful. The pubs that evening were worse. The open air gents toilet behind the away end was a smaller version of the one outside the Main Stand at Ashton Gate. Memories!
  9. Soda Bread (farls) grilled and then served with Apricot Jam is also a particular favourite of mine!
  10. Brilliant. Slice and grill and then fill with fried egg and bacon and sausage! If you can make Wheaten Bread, you'll be able to play football for Northern Ireland or Ireland!
  11. Using your current car as a deposit should give you far more than you expected. If you can negotiate a deal and then be patient like us, you're in for a great deal.
  12. And there is talk of making another series!
  13. Also.... If you're ordering a car and get a price guarantee that's one thing. However, if like us you'll have to wait 9 months, please bear in mind that even though the guaranteed price might be under £40,000, it's when the car is registered that is important. If in 9 months time, our car would now cost £40,001 then our car tax is £450 for the next few years! It doesn't matter that our guaranteed price was £39,995 or whatever was agreed. It's the price of the car when it is registered that matters. Not fair especially as many car prices will go up between now and over 6 months time. Will the Government increase the 40k threshold? They should! If you can buy a brand new one on the forecourt, go for it!
  14. I've been test driving all the VW hybrids and IDs plus other manufacturer models. My wife and I want to go down the Hybrid route. We now have solar panels so it makes sense to use the electricity generated by them to power a car. Because Mrs NI has many medical issues now, comfort is a no1 priority. The Peugeot 3008 is a great, well built car. However, the passenger seat does not offer lumbar control even as an optional extra. Comparing the quality of comfort to a Tiguan was like night and day though. The VW won hands down. From my driving perspective, the Mini Countryman, Citroën Aircross (a 3008 in a slightly different disguise) and Peugeot 3008 were all enjoyable to drive. The Tiguan is faster than the French counterparts whilst the Mini is just overpriced and in case I haven't stressed it enough, overpriced. If you do less than 30 miles a day on average, look at the Hybrids or Phevs as they are often called (petrol hybrid electric vehicles). The Tiguan is basically their GTE but you have a choice of models. A hybrid can be charged from a standard wall socket. Most hybrid manufacturers limit the amount of kwh their cars can accept anyway. 30 miles of power would equate to around 4 hours of charging from a garage socket. My research has shown that despite a few saying you should only do this as an emergency is not true. A Rolec Wallpod can be obtained from many stores for around £100. Not only is it waterproof and looks like a proper wall charger, it is for 13 amp plugs and can be upgraded at a later date! It's worth checking out the Tiguan R Line especially as VW are offering £2250 towards your PCP deposit. Expect a lengthy wait though.
  15. Or just the next Sir Gerry Gow.
  16. The classis track by Johnny Marr's ex mate Mooreissey
  17. PS I would remove your mobile number and ask people to PM you instead
  18. Came in a taxi, He only came in a taxi... To be chanted when John is speaking to Geoff!
  19. Well worth listening to latest series on bbcsounds. The last 2 episodes were up there with the best ever. Jack Dee is better than Humph (blasphemy?) and Milton Jones was in top form.
  20. Lovely man. Met him once after he had spoken as the after dinner speaker. He was still very funny on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.
  21. Nor me last night. From past history (ie more than 2 years), it seems the record function (accessible via the main menu guide) is only available when there is a full schedule of matches on the red button. The record function was working prior to Christmas. We will know if this option is still available on 9th Feb when the Reading game will be on the red button. There are 7 games being played that night in the Championship. Preston is on Sky Football and Blackburn on Sky Arena. If we can't record on that night (sometimes it won't be available until just before ko) then Sky must have disabled this function.
  22. Yes you can! However, if it's not a full schedule of red button games, Sky doesn't give you the option. Go to TV schedule. Go to SKy Football. Go to match time and even though it will show another main match, push record. Immediately a pop-up will ask you to select the match required.
