NPs had a highest win rate of 36% in his time here and that was never going to be enough for top 6
Yes, but given the players he had it was more than acceptable. We are miles off having a top six team. Manning is simply heading in wrong direction

Not a valid question re City. Nothing ever changes, same old false hopes followed by the default position of despair or worse

I actually don’t think people are surprised by the result. It’s the manner of the defeat.
And the context of no win in 2024 in the league, and Manning’s miserable points record

I still prefer Nige, but was prepared to give Manning time, but his League record is totally shocking. I guess he won’t/can’t be sacked this season but after first ten matches of next if he can’t drastically improve his record he needs to go, along with BT.
i see the buffers in sight at the end of the Championship track., after that I see only darkness, my friends.

A striker wouldn’t make much difference. The set up and any real quality behind the forward line is the problem.
Agree. Everything is a problem and it starts with our serial loseR SL

Mannings record was poor before tonight. And I could take losing tonight if I saw some positive signs but it’s been horrible. Really bad.
And will continue to be without a proven striker

You forgot behaviours!
Oh yes, please let us forget behaviours. Totally meaningless

Rarely bet against city but my 0-3 doesn’t look like coming in,I really hope manning is learning from this though
He can’t learn unless masterminds BT& JL give him the players to do the job

Prem quality teams like this will embarrass us. That's why we aren't in the prem yet. New manager, old squad. Seasons a write off this year.
And very old, past their sell by date, owners

Don’t get me wrong we have been poor but they are exceptional, fitter , stronger , better on the ball , and quicker
Why on earth ARE they seemingly fitter? Don’t say because our little darlings played midweek

Don’t worry we have a new striker from a Belgian team no one has ever heard of, and whose first team he seldom troubled. Guess like Napoleon, we too will meet our Waterloo.
Don’t worry Tinnion is on the case

Not a bogey team just an infinitely better team

What a dreadful kick by O’Leary, and still people defend him. I just don’t get it.

Come on the top six team
In the real world we are being given a lesson on what a top six team looks like. We definitely don’t on evidence so far.
COYR prove me wrong

Give a loud Bristolian cheer for the old World evening paper and the great Pink Un, as I remember it more pro City than the Green Un. Bristol’s evening papers used to be on sale at Paddington. Not living in Bristol in the 1960s always my last purchase before returning to university, and reading latest City news. That was when we really signed players for this division, eg Chris Crowe

I don’t think Manning is necessarily the brightest spark when it comes to choosing his words.
None of that matters if he achieves, but on that the jury is out.
Sorry but wish it was Nige benefitting by the loosening of purse strings.

@DavefevsNo I get that but that’s a game every 4-6 weeks yet 21s play every week. James is a classic example of starting for Cardiff ages ago and then sub for 21s, same for Nelson & Meerholz & Yeboah recently. They are still playing for 18s on a regular basis but seems we are holding back their development if what you say is accurate.
Another possible consequence of losing Nige ?

Bell is really poor, aside from a burst of pace he offers very little, final ball and decision making is so bad, I would sell in summer or loan, he isn’t good enough, shame as nice link with his dad but not time for sentiment in football.
Agreed. Hope Manning is allowed to get rid of the new dead wood, ie those passed it and those who won’t ever get there.

Maybe. But Steve's been in charge for 20 years or more, I find it difficult to believe he couldn't have appointed him - when he was, say, at Scunthorpe. Instead he backed a serial loser.
Exactly right. Every failure over two decades rests back with SL

I am now feeling sorry for Manning in the same way I felt sorry for Nige. Neither has been given a strong enough squad for this league, to achieve what the owners still maintain they want. This dates back, in recent times, to Cotts not being backed in our first season back in The Championship.
It is all so predictable. Manning like Nige is left trying to make silk purses out of sows’s ears.

How can anyone seriously say that about Wells after tonight?
Horseshit about Max, as well.
Everyone is welcome to their opinion but play those two next season and we certainly won’t advance beyond mid table. It is not that O’Leary is accident prone but the nature of his mistakes snd his failure to improve. I stand by my comment on Wells. He has had one good striker’s season in his career, quite away back now, and he simply isn’t the player we bought. Time for realism over both players if we really are serious about top six next season.

I thought we looked knackered. Going to be a tough set of games coming up.
Max had a bad night but all the fans slagging him off have very short memories.
Re Max. No we are not. Many of us have felt from the beginning he was far too error prone. Worse than Gibson imo on that score.
