What is it that makes Anthony so completely dislikeable?
He's cocky, petulant, idiot maybe?

Of course there have been the odd success but by enlarge signings from the lower leagues fail to flourish.
Btw - wasn’t Scott part of the academy as was Semenyo? - correct me if I’m wrong.
They went via our academy but were signed into the academy in their late years after already playing men's football.

Four very tough games in a short period of time. If we can come out of these still within 6 points of the playoffs that would be a great platform to maybe make a late charge. We lose them all and then it's another season of mediocrity confirmed. The optimist in me says that 5 points out of this lot would be a good outcome but it will be a very tough ask; especially the next two.
To be honest I think it's irrelevant where points come from as long as we pick them up and are capable of beating anyone. We've shown that with West Ham and we could well do well in the playoff's.
If we manager to get to the playoffs which given our transitional state (inflicted on us by BT, JL and co) the best we can hope for is maybe a beat Forrest get a nice game out of it, and pick up some nice wins.

We need to be taking points off Brighton to keep them within reach. Common the laddies
Can't really afford to get relegated with Newcastle on the march and only one up one down in the championship.

Lots of owners lend money to their clubs with no interest at all
I'm not objected to a change of ownership it just has to be the right sort. I remember when Scott Davidson lost his marbles trying to buy us into the prem we got relegated and loaded up with debt and drunk players on fat contracts, ever since been Steve's in charge it's been way more sane.

I am perplexed by that number of two thirds, I mean SL has a lot of loans in the club they have very preferential interest rates. A buyer of anything other than a sovereign fund would mean replacing those loans with a huge amount of PE money at a higher rate of interest and we would in return more than likely put us in a horrible financial position.
I'm pissed off with them sure, but conversely I'm careful what I wish for.

Wouldn’t blame him at all for their goal
Me neither, exceptionally good pass and very quick feet from Bowen.

Jesus you lot are older than the sun. I think I had some Gola football boots when they were not too fashionable, the first pair I procured for myself were new balance boots in the early 90s, when I had my own money to burn.

That is true. Case by case though..would Szmodics have smashed it with us or did he need to go backwards to go forwards a bit. He very much deserved a better chance here of course.
Adelakun and Eisa both especially the former attracted interest from elsewhere but the leap was beyond them.
Such a promising name.

I'm not sure i agree with this. We've seen many games this season when we create sod all for the strikers. The problem is we have no creative midfielders and haven't replaced Scott.
Depressingly Scott is making a huge impact for Bournemouth even with the few games he's played. Just shows how good he was, and what a miss he is.

I could see Bell in a 433.
Bell, Conway, Wells/Sykes
TGH James Knight
Pring Naismith Vyner Tanner
I'd push Naismith up into holding midfield, keep Dickie in central defensive pair. I like James but I think Naismith is more creative.

@phantom could you rename the title and move it to the football thread as it's actually quite insightful.

That's interesting but a poor title, maybe cotts thoughts on the Millwall game.
I think we're missing a couple of players at the moment, and we need to sort that.

Another useless fact....
I am now banned from Argos.

Makes using them as a makeshift ruler all the more risky.

I should add, this is very much a game Aston Villa should be winning in any event, perhaps would have won even no penalty and 11v11..Berge got 2nd yellow but some claims that Carlos could've gone for Aston Villa too.
Not sold on that myself, not seen the Berge 2nd yellow.
That handball is blatant!! Is it a red? Idk.
It's a handball without a doubt.

Let's just appreciate what Pearsons done, as let's not kid ourselves "these players are very coachable" means the previous managers not been doing a bad job, and these players are clued up, and well managed.
The board have treated Pearson appallingly and will forever be looked upon with my distain for how they removed Pearson.
Manning however is not to blame for their spiteful behaviour and I take each game as it comes. He's showing signs of being a decent manager, however it takes a while to fully coach out the previous incumbents work and the team is currently the product of Pearson/Manning we will see a true picture 6-8 months into Mannings tenure. I suggest in the meantime you just enjoy each game as it comes, and take the rough with the smooth

And so did Man Utd, but it looks like they won't be this season and maybe for a few more if they don't get their act together.
It's an unfair meritocracy at present given the finances these clubs enjoy, but at least there is a chance others can break into it.
There in sits the problem of a superleague made up of the biggest clubs not necessarily the best clubs. You only have to look at the Spanish league and see Girona sitting at the top and Leicester here a few seasons back. I don't see the value in a super league consisting of the biggest clubs who want to play in it.

Its highly likely to be in that region,, and that salary should get us a higher level striker, or the attacking midfielder we are apparently looking for? Free up joe williams too and thats another 10-15k a week as well!
Why is everyone so surprised that 10-15k a week is a lot of money? Relative to your average man It is a truckload of cash, but in Chamipship football terms it's nothing more than average. If you don't adjust for skew and the crazy amount of money the top teams in our league pay, it's way below average.
