In the short term, as the other thread suggests, how the players react will be so important. Whoever is in charge of training would be well advised to keep them distant from the board and make sure they just focus on football.

None of us or the players are in control of this so keep the team in isolation from all the corporate stuff even if it means being 'unavailable' for meetings and PR.

I fully back Curtis to keep their heads on right. He won't hang them out to dry and he'll make sure they are in as right of a mind frame they can be in.

  2. Simple answer is they can't turn this around. They could appoint Pep give him the keys to the castle and the trust still wouldn't be there.

It takes ages to build up trust but a moment to knock it all down.

Every bit of good they've done was wiped away in an instant because of this. Nige had the support or the players and the fans. He never lost either because we all knew what a shit hand he was dealt and then JL spouts off a load of s**t about how the squad (which nige put together) is capable of going up and that results haven't been good enough. He was never backed in the transfer market and we are 5 points off the play offs with a whole first XI out injured the **** does he expect would happen.

He needs to carve up Bristol Sport (a failed project) and sell off the Club to someone who will back the manager.

  3. It reminds me a bit of the WWE Vince McMahon had been in power for so long appointed his son and daughter in positions of power and was making mistake after mistake after mistake. They end up merging with the UFC and he's out of decision making.

SL and JL are determined to ruin this club I swear just wrong decision after wrong decision.

I feel sorry for the next manager coming in because they'll be the middle man (or woman) between the fans and the board and that relationship is strained after this whole debacle.

  4. John Eustace would be one of my more preferred choices did a good job at Brum and look at them since they appointed the "better coach" in Rooney.

Warnock would be a good choice until the end of the sesson. Proven at this level with a budget.

Even someone like Ryan Mason I wouldn't be against.

Jones, Lampard, Gerrard, Cotts, Kennedy, Cowley or anyone like that I couldn't get behind. We need someone who will take us forward and I don't see that being any of them.

Warnock finding one last way to wind up Bristol City fans would actually be pretty funny

I don't think he would. We obviously have the banter with each other (the minutes booing when he passes away) but I feel that he has a weird respect for us and our fans.

Here’s the initial “urinating in the wind” betting odds. No Pep, shockingly, but some outstanding humans…

If I was a betting man I think I'd put a cheeky bet on Paul Cook or Lule Garrard.

But how are Sam Allardyce, Chris Hughton and Neil Lennon on that list.

Given the thugs piss poor record, could he be binned imminently? He's spent a lot and done naff all tbh.

And would probably get paid a lot to be binned. But why would we want him to go? Not developing any of their own youngsters to sell on, signing older players on what I would assume big contracts but the club let him get away with so much I doubt they'll let him go even if he loses 20 games in a row.

They actually think the Post is biased towards us. **** me they really are something else. The coverage they got from Frost last season was genuinely North Korea worthy

I'm guessing the new guy didn't toe the Party line so "Saint" Joey didn't like it but can't have him jailed for treason.

Is the Championship much better? Luton and Sheffield United are bang average sides who got promoted last season.

L1 includes Bolton and Barnsley, two clubs who have played in the PL within living memory, unlike BCFC.

And as for being over budget...planks and splinters come to mind.

Sheffield United are now a yo yo club who have financial means well above most championship teams.

As for Luton they are there on merit whilst at the same time there's always an anomaly in a season. Luton /Coventry last season, Huddersfield in 21/22. Barnsley in 20/21 etc

The issue is, and the new guy has admitted it, the Few are totally reliant on the Developers of the site being able to make it work. If the numbers don’t stack up things will either be delayed until they do or worse for them the Developer could just flip the site, get their money back and run. It’s not uncommon.

A proper stadium of 20k seats, if done properly, could easily set the Developer back £50m plus. It won’t have dawned on our blue cousins that there is a lot of work to be done before a design is tabled let alone a spade put in the ground. You’re also looking at a the best part of two years to build it.

No wonder the newbie is asking for patience. Could be five years away if there aren’t huge obstacles to overcome.

    Brentford's 17k seater cost £71m. Plough Lane which is 9k cost £34m.

I'd say you'd be looking at £65-80m for the stadium as costs will have gone up since Brentford built their stadium.

  11. I think as stated above GK, CB, CM and Forward is what we need.

For keeper I'd potentially put in a cheeky offer for Marcus Bettinelli 3rd choice keeper there, 31 has plenty of experience he shouldn't upset the balance.

CB if not Kalas then Tom Holmes or Eiran Cashin would be the 2 I'd prefer. You can't really blame Holmes for the mess Readong are in and Cashin seems to be one of the next big things at Derby.

CM it has to be Callum Styles or Tim Iroegbunam both jave championship experience, both good ages in terms of potential sell on. I do have a choice from completely left field who is Marěj Jurásek from Slavia Prague I've been impressed whenever I've seen him.

For CF it's difficult because you want someone who would bring something different but also fit in... personally I'd go for someone like Sydney Van Hooijdonk (son of Pierre) if we can get him on the cheap from Bologna. Kasper Junker has had a decent season out in Japan and is out of contract at the end of the year so should be cheap.

Supposedly according to a thread I dip in and out of, Scott verbally agreed to join Wolves but whether they can make the fee numbers work, well who knows.

Is this a plausible scenario? At which stage would we grant permission for a club to talk to Scott?

You would presume at the start they would come to us and say "We want to sign Alex Scott can we have permission to talk to him" and then after they've got interest from scott they come back and then negotiations over price happen.
