Shearer, when asked a while ago which he valued more prem title or goalscoring record, said he was a goalscorer and that was his job so the latter. I think Keane will think the same. I'm not sure I'd value a probable Bundesliga over that myself.

Easy for Shearer to say that having won the prem! It's not even just the Bundesliga, they have a real chance of winning the Champions League.

Unsure how far off it he is but he could easily in theory go away for a 3 year stint at Bayern, win a few trophies and maybe the CL and return to break it in the final years of his career maybe.

Or maybe he breaks it this season then joins Bayern on a free in 2024-25.

Not sure if Bayern will be that forgiving considering they have spent all summer chasing him! If that was his plan, you would think he would of made that clear to them & they could of just got him to sign a pre-contract in January. All seems a bit strange at the minute.

Indeed. It’s sad how many of us English cannot see the lack of ambition in this from Kane but there you go, all about breaking the Prem goal scoring record isn’t it ?

The English pundits (particularly Carragher & Neville) along with the media have been praying that he would turn down Munich, such a strange mentality. Shame he doesn't appear to have the hunger of Bellingham. Record goal scorer is nothing to be sniffed at, but that will get broken eventually anyway & even if he goes to Germany for 3 or 4 years he could still come back & get the record. Can't understand how it's even something he needs to consider........& why he couldn't of just been straight & honest with Bayern back in June.

  4. Bizarre from Kane, does appear that he likes to be the big fish in a small pond if he rejects this. People saying he is going to see out his contract & move to a prem team next season - but who? United have just spent £70 odd million on a young striker who will be their future, Man City have Haaland & he won't end up at Arsenal, so that leaves the unlikely destinations of Liverpool & Chelsea. Very strange. Can't help but feel it would be for the benefit of the England national team if he was at an elite club instead of Spurs.

It’s not nice losing a player like Scott. A generational talent. To us Bournemouth are a small club, much like the Luton fans when we signed Naismith, or Derby fans when we signed Knight.

Will be a pleasure watching his career develop from afar.

Absolutely, hope he’s bloody brilliant for them. They have made some decent signings, but i know nothing about their new manager so have no idea how they will do this season. Hopefully he can use them as a showcase to catapult himself to champions league football within a few years.

In fairness to Lloyd Kelly he’s now captain of a Premier League side and being paid 30-40k a week wages. Didn’t work out too badly at all.

Though I agree AS ceiling is far far superior, he won’t be at Bournemouth for long IMO.

I was being a bit bitter in regards to Alex if i’m honest! ?

However, regarding Kelly it’s not been all roses, wasn’t a starter throughout much of last season & was stripped of all captaincy duties (including as vice and third). Scott’s ceiling is certainly higher, hopefully he uses them as more of a stepping stone to Champions league football.

I’ve not seen any goals, etc, but I’m hearing on BBCRB that Knight (who 3 days ago was a combo of Lee Johnson and Neil Kilkenny) has 2 goals and an assist, with a combo of late runs and winning the ball back. Some posters need to refer to the Jason Knight thread for what this lad brings.

Couldnt quite believe some of the responses to his display on saturday…..i thought first half he was quality, they just kept him quiet throughout the second, but thats otib for ya!

  8. Did think he seemed a bit “off” from the limited time we saw him on the pitch on Saturday….didn’t quite seem as sharp as we are used to seeing him, so could well be something that has carried over from the pre-season knock that has just led on to this. Massive shame for him & us.

Totally agree. Although jury out on the summer aspect. Think ours has been okay.

Yes they've sold nobody of note since Moore in 2021-22, Parachute Payments ended ie final season in 2020-21. All very odd?

Oh i’m not saying our summer has been bad at all, i think it has been very good, but considering i had no idea until half hour ago that they had signed Josh Bowler & Karlan Grant (i know he had a bad year last season but he knows where the net is) just imagine how delighted we would of been with them 2 with a bit of Aaron Ramsey chucked in……his legs can’t be anymore passed it than Andy King’s! We would be pretty confident of a very good season.

Not sure how they are going to get away with it, unless they win promotion? Something about a Turkish manager doesn’t scream success to me however. Hopefully it all goes tits up.

Goal-Assist from new signings from higher division clubs when said club are pushing FFP limits.

When this was us a year ago we were so hemmed in it was untrue.

Im shocked at their signings, they have had a better summer than us which seems absurd considering the restrictions they should be under!

Only problem I see is he is a lefty and we have Atkinson coming back around Xmas time and also Naismith and Roberts who can play left side. Plus I think one of the young lads is also a left footer.

Yeh you are correct on that one, forgot that he was a left-sided defender, probably not where we would need any further cover.

Suspect Nige’s time at Wednesday cut across Bart-Williams too.

    Crap day for football.

RIP Chris….a must sign in old Football Manager days.

Thats one of the things that crossed my mind after hearing. Can’t remember watching too much of him in real life, but always used to sign him. RIP Chris.

Umpires get the light meters out early enough anyway, days should start earlier

Yet they let Boland terrorise our batters in Edgbaston when the light was awful and it was raining, umpires seem immune from criticism in cricket, but more consistency is very much needed.

  14. So the Aussies are going to go with Travis Head as their main spinner, maybe with Marnus pitching in as well? Seems a bit odd that……not sure why Cameron Green has been chucked straight back in, he hasn’t looked very good to me this series, but we’ll take it!

    Agree.

If any of you haven’t watched Sky Docs - Deadline Day, watch it….I’m on episode 3.  I really did like like Dharmesh and Kaveh on the Transfer Centre, but having watched this, I actually dislike them more.  They spout so much crap, admittedly they are time-fillers really, that is all.  Pure hyperbole!!

Dharmesh - right let’s plan the schedule for the programme later.

    Sky bloke - yeah, ok

Dharmesh - how about we do….(at this point I’m expecting something professional or clever from him)….potential outgoings, then potential incomings. ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️

Both of them are god awful & always have been, that Kaveh is an absolute weapon, just have a read of what Crystal Palace fans think of him. They are both part of the main reasons why sky sports news is such a joke these days and why you can’t trust a word of their “sources” when it comes to transfers - many years back sky sports were always the most reliable and trustworthy before those 2 got more involved.

It wasn't about dropping him, it was about relieving him of the WK duties

As @And Its Smith said, just wouldn't be possible due to the bowlers, if he wasn't keeping wicket he was out. Whilst i agree i would like to see him without the pressure of being keeper it just wasn't going to happen.

  17. Didn't think they would drop Bairstow, especially after we won. However, he looks completely shot to pieces so can't see anything changing for him in the next 2 tests, apart from more misery..........sorry for the dampener! Hope he proves me wrong.
