Looks like Bolton have rested a fair few with the playoffs to come.

Keeper isn’t playing & top scorer Dion Charles on the bench.

It will be even funnier when Joey Ballbag blows his top when they have lost to what he claims is a far inferior side than they are then.

But at the same time, how much floating support is there to be mopped up still?

I get the mythical 40-bazillion at Wembley, but that was just day trippers, if they get a new stadium, they'll have to move their marketing machine in to overdrive to get any traction, and that would only be possible by targeting the armchair supporters and Sky subscribers, to do that they would need to offer a very competitive deal, and to keep them a really competitive season ticket deal.

Do they advertise at the moment (haven't seen them on Sky Sports flogging tickets), and do over half of their regular support have season tickets, probably not.

The other 70 EFL clubs will be bricking it, as the methane snorters keep insisting they are everyone’s second favourite team, as soon as the Cabbage Patch gets built (it won’t btw) the other fans will swap allegiance immediately so there will still be thousands locked out each match.

I keep looking at the title and wondering if it was an alternative to "Anything for the weekend, sir"?

When the barber asked me that and I said yes……. he gave me a bloody lawnmower!

Not sure if I am the only one, but somewhat nervous of the U20 World Cup. If he gets seriously crocked there a lot of our planning could go out the window. I will be very happy when it is over and Alex is still 100%!

I have a feeling a deal is already agreed, given the talk of potential incomings and some of the figures being quoted.

Good luck to the lad, no one can honestly say he doesn't deserve it.

  5. At the start of soccer Saturday today, he said this was his last year.

He also acknowledged it has been said before, but confirmed he would be leaving Sky at the end of the season.

Personally I would like to thank him for the 30 years he has contributed to, the program has really changed the landscape for football reporting oven the years.

Blackpool v Millwall tonight, two teams with a lot to play for - good game to watch, Millwall needing to win to have a realistic chance of the playoffs and Blackpool desperate for a win to have a chance of not being relegated.

Blackpool are down if they lose, Reading v Hudds last game means they can’t both get no points

    Is the Champ weaker, or…

    - doesn’t have anyone standout bar Burnley, but ultra-competitive beneath them?

I see a “weak” league as one where there is no competition, and I don’t think that describes this season’s Championship.

Was just about to post something similar, nearly all season any side bar Burnley were needing a couple of wins to get away from the bottom or a couple of wins to get into the promotion shake up.

"Whilst our billionaire owner is waiting for somebody to plan, build and pay for a new stadium in the next decade or so Plymouth have just got on and developed their existing ground."

    The bitterness

I actually saw that and found it a refreshing piece of realisation........

Either that or it was an imposter from here!

480 for a derby.. that’s possibly some of the worst away support I think I have ever seen. Rovers away support only travel to grounds they haven’t been too for 20 years.. potful

Even though this is described as a ‘Derby’ at 125 miles away it hardly qualifies.

Curiosity got to me, and Vale Park is 127 miles away, that would never be considered as a local match up.

Not getting away from 480 being poor given their constant claims of mass travelling fans.

Bizarrely there are two Championship games scheduled for Monday 1st May. Rotherham v Boro at 1pm and Blackburn v Luton at 5:30. It must be the BBC cocking it up as that Monday`s not a bank holiday - it`s the Monday after.

I guess they`ll both be evening kickoffs.

May 1st is a BH, May Day

The following week is for the coronation.

Amazing night. A genuine privilege to have commentated on it. The sort of thing you dream about as a kid.

Being a football journalist with a young family living 150 miles away from Bristol hasn’t been particularly conducive to watching City live - in fact, I’ve probably only been to about a dozen games during the past decade - but getting to do that game, the last Bristol derby and the night we beat Manchester United presumably means I qualify as a bit of a lucky charm.

    Or a glory hunter!?

VAR as a concept and a tool is an excellent idea..........the problem's seem to lie with the Tools that operate it?

Agreed, I think the VAR system should be there for the on pitch official(s) to be able to go and look at something if his view was obscured or was a close call, not for a bloke 100 miles away not involved with proceedings to have his interpretation on what he thinks he's seen when slowed down from 20 different angles.

At worst, the 4th official should be the one steering the on pitch ref that he may want to review something.

The hand ball/penalty/no goal needs to be sorted out properly as well, take out any ambiguity.
