  1. The players won't be deconditioned after this International break. As we have taken 4 points immediately following the previous two international breaks with deconditioned players, I am fully expecting 3 points and a positive performance.
  2. Because at the time he thought it would be. But he now has unfinished business.
  3. Except he referred to Tottenham only. Had he said Tottenham Hotspur I concur with your post...but he could be referring to The area of Tottenham, Tottenham Council, anything with Tottenham as it's name. Thus the Major and Basil, quote.
  4. Major, "India won again." Basil,"Did it."
  5. Was going to suggest Tins as manager. Was told by someone I worked with many moons ago ( whilst Tins was a player) that he was always in a certain pub in Nailsea.
  6. Or this (Price of Football pod) https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/everton-deducted-ten-points-for-breaching-premier-league/id1482886394?i=1000635370935
  7. Only available with Rewards from March onwards.
  8. OK, I bit and googled Brian Parkin and Nottingham Forest. Took a while but it appears that Parkin was a Goalkeeper who played for many clubs including the Gas. According to worldfootball.net he only played twice against Forest, whilst at Wycombe. I can find no reference to him being referred to as a clown or being sent off. I'm as confused as everyone else.....oh well back to the catalogues.
  9. There have been lots of mentions in threads and recent podcasts calling for Naismith to be played in midfield due to our lack of passing ability in that area. Whilst I understand the reasoning behind these calls, from a team perspective it makes no real sense. Naismith, to my knowledge, has never played in midfield. He started his career as a winger and we signed him from Luton as a defender. Regarding the lack of passing ability in midfield, I would guess that Naismith was the first name on NP's team sheet as a defender for this reason. It ensured that we had someone in the back 6 that was comfortable taking possession of the ball and either retaining it or picking out a good forward pass. Yes, but Naismith has a rick in him, I hear people say. My reply would be, "Name me a Championship defender that doesn't have a rick in him." (ask QPR fans about Rob Dickie). So who to leave out if Naismith is played at the back (back 4) ? Sorry Zak, but Naismith overall ability defending and extra quality on the ball means you will have to bide your time. For those calling for Naismith to play midfield, I guess at the expense of Matty James, I would ask who is now going to be the disruptor and ball winner in midfield. Matty James has a great engine, gets through a ton of work not only winning the ball back but playing passes to ensure we retain possession. TGH imo is not a ball winner in the same sense. Knight can do it but he should be part of the forward press so you don't want him too deep. This is not a role that Naismith can play and suddenly slot in to. For anyone that has played midfield, at any level, you will know that it is quite a specialist position and not one that can be easily adopted. If Naismith were to be played there I can almost guarantee that the game will pass him by and he will be nowhere near as effective as he would be taking the ball from the back and creating from there. Had Naismith started at the back (No way you could have brought him on when the game was going against us 60-70 mins as the two Centre halves knew their jobs and were attuned to the game) on Saturday in place of Zak then (midfield selections aside) I think we win that game, comfortably.
  10. Blimey, talk about feeling old. I have absolutely no idea what people are talking about. IPTV, Firestick what are these things ? If I ever watch Robins TV which is rarely then I watch on the laptop via the OS.
  11. I thought he'd booked an argument but ended up with a long series of contradictions....."But this isn't an argument." "Yes it is."
  12. Going with Miah's criteria 35, including a pre season game 20 odd years ago at Clutton.
  13. With Tinnion picking the side now it will be sooner than you think. (sorry just being a bit cynical, couldn't resist that 'open goal').
  14. We were 8th a few days before they decided to sack Pearson. Top 6 absolutely has to be the minimum.
  15. So, basically give up on this season and next to get back to where we were two weeks ago.
  16. And the VAR idiots still tried to chalk it off as handball.
  17. Your point was, " would there be utter madness on this forum if we signed a forward and those were his stats." I'm giving you an example of a player that no one would have complained about signing but ended up with stats similar to those that you are disparaging Martin for.
  18. Not sure what your point is about goals and assists is, as there are so many mitigating factors involved. For context Martin's numbers were similar to Brereton Diaz at Blackburn the following season. Not sure too many would have complained if we had bought him as a replacement.
  19. Which is exactly what NP was doing over a period of time. Ease a few out bring in slightly better. It doesn't happen overnight, unless you think like the 3 wise men that run our club.
  20. That was part of our problem yesterday. Yes sometimes Max kicks a few out of play, but generally we gained a lot of ground by either Pring winning the header on the halfway line and us winning the second ball or else the ball glancing off Pring or the defender for a throw in. Yesterday we didn't do that and ceded a lot of ground as a consequence. Max was playing it short to Dickie or Vyner and everyone was just knocking it sideways with no purpose. At lease under Pearson there seemed to be an aim to the possession football. i.e pull the other team out of shape and wait for an opening to spring one of the wingers. Some people on here want to call it hoof ball, but at least we had a style and pattern of play. Yesterday the wide men didn't know whether to drop deep or stay high and look for space. Probably Sykes worst game of the season as a result.
  21. Chatting to a QPR fan on the tube. He couldn't believe how easily and cheaply we signed Dickie. MOM again today.
  22. There's being up for it and also giving that extra ten percent which we saw at Cardiff. That extra hunger just wasn't there today.
