To be be fair, I think he’s tied to reinvent the wheel early doors and it hasn’t worked or he’s realised thats Going to take time or different personnel. Back to basics we go. Ground out 3 points (Pearson style - whey!). Get to 50 points we go again with Manningball.

Controversial but this is mostly Nigel Pearson's team, and according to most on here we are not playing well or are not very good, so who are we blaming?
I know. What a great culture he’s imprinted.
So… you are right. Who we blaming?

Our ‘Nige’ would have had us on the brink of the play-offs according to the deluded ones…..
God bless you Nige. Merry Xmas

I can't agree with you there pal. He wins a lot of headers which is mainly down to his good timing. He reads the game better than some of our younger talent and is prepared to put in a shift for the team.
Wins lots of headers? You sure?

Thanks for that Dave.
I was quite baffled when Ian said Coventry should have been 4 nil up by half time. That's not how I remembered it.
I think it's also worth nothing that Sunderland came up against what many would say was a stronger defence on Saturday than Coventry did vs us. We had changed formation and Sykes was RWB, King CB, Pring LCB and Roberts LWB.
I guess what I'm trying to say is Coventry threatened us less against a weakened and changed defence where as Sunderland threatened us more against probably our strongest back 4.
Please don’t let facts get in the way here, Gull.

Genuinely can’t work the bloke out.
Absolutely outstanding first half, really unlucky with the shot that hit the post & was causing them no end of problems. 8/10.
Second half a total passenger, one totally brainless bit of play in our box could have cost a goal, didn’t track his man at all, left Pring with far too much to do too often. Passes were hospital ones or too short. 3/10.
Weimann comes on, tracks his man, wins a decent number of challenges, closes down like his life depends on it, absolutely brilliant through ball to Cornick & loads of excellent team play.
Mehmeti cannot play for half a game, he needs to concentrate when we don’t have the ball or are under the cosh.
I think “outstanding” is somewhat over the top.

Ooooooooh we needed that....hopefully a few more onside to Liams ways.
A welcome 3 points however I very much doubt on that showing it would’ve convinced many. MO’L kept us in the game.

Mehmeti so naive as a Championship footballer. His thought process remains the level below currently. Really needs to sharpen up several aspects of his game.

Indifferent half. A good spell of play after the goal where we looked threatening going forward and then we’ve dropped off a yard and let Sunderland back in it. Defensively not convincing. Like some of the recent games having accessed the opposition over the first 45, I’d be disappointed if we don’t pick up 3 points here. These are the games we should be winning.
I must say though, I’m no more convinced that we’d get the 3 points than I would be if NP was in charge. Other than we’d be better organised defensively. Vyner and Dickie struggling today.

Would love a player like Patrick Roberts in our side.

So, how we playing?
Both teams not overly impressive defensively. City edging it on the attacking front. Very open game. TGH working the strings. Even more baffling the fact he’s been benched a couple of times.

This referee is diar.

Knights anticipation to intercept

Sunderland defensively are there for the taking.

I see at as taking the game to your opponent. Not sitting back, waiting. Immediately looking to assert yourself over the opponent in both securing possession of the ball and being positive with it.

"Seasoned presenter"?
Of what?
Pretty sure previously he worked on local radio.

Wish @Davefevs would have taken Ian to task more during their live face off. Felt it was a missed opportunity.
For a seasoned presenter @headhunterdoesnt half jump in before people have finished their point.

Both the club and local radio interviewers are garbage.
Is Mark Sykes carrying a knock? Are you having to manage his minutes?
What were your thoughts when bringing Knight off?
TGH has picked up the clubs player of the month award, what led you to start Williams over him this evening?
How do you feel you can get the best out of TC in this system?

We are a mid-championship team at best, lacking the quality and depth needed to compete at the top end of the table.
Which we as fans were well aware of. Much owing to the lack of investment. However, there was patience amongst the majority of supporters. Expectations were relatively low.
Not so much now (owing to the managerial change and stupid comments in the media by the top brass) - Manning is already under the cosh.

Problem here is Lansdown was always going to need to back Manning in the window however, to suit Mannings style, it needs a proper revamp. Que signing several players for decent sums, on longer contracts before Manning is given the boot. And so, it starts again…
So frustrating. Tinnion and the Lansdowns, you *******.

To be honest, I’m Pearson all day long. Felt as though he’d been treated harshly, no one will convince me different unless he comes out at some point and declares that it was health related. Whilst it isn’t Mannings fault, he’ll have to win me over. Mainly owing to the board treatment of NP. 3 wins on the bounce won’t do that, however it’ll bloody help. The league is hugely competitive so I’ll take my hat off to him. Continue getting the points on the board whilst he makes his tweaks, I’ll warm to the appointment. In time, if he’s got points on the board now as he changes style (gradually) and then performances improve / as his styles are implemented, but the points dip a little he’ll remain in a bit of credit.
Im on board with a lot of your posts. I feel today today though, credit is due. Enjoy the 3 points.
