Bryan has always been a left midfielder/left wing back. He is good at crossing and shooting, but no good at defending. He is too weak physically at heading and tackling.

Whilst I agree that he isn’t the strongest defender, I would argue that his Heading ability is actually very good.

Bryan is able to jump very high from a standing start position. This was utilised very well during our promotion campaign under Cotts.

  2. Bringing Joe back would be good business.

I feel as fans we often get stuck in the mindset of “but what does that mean for Pring?!”.

It means serious competition for places, which is what’s required to challenge at the top end of the division.

Joe is versatile enough to challenge for a starting spot in a variety of positions. That can only have a positive impact on the squad.

This isn’t the ‘comfy club’ any more. Nige wants a squad full of competition.

I also wouldn’t rule out the Currie deal AS WELL as signing Joe. It’s a big step up from League 2, and if Currie were to sign, then it is highly likely that the 1st season would be spent ‘settling in’ like the plan was for Tanner.

For all we know, Bryan could be signed for the Left-wing position, which allows Mehmeti to play as the ‘10’.

Signing such as Bryan, and McCrorie bring greater depth in not only one position, but to the squad as a whole. It’s sensible business.

  3. I’m sure Nige said around the time of his injury, that it’s an issue that he will likely have to manage for the rest of his career.

He will be slowly building up his fitness between now and the end of the season.

    I don’t see any issue.

I think we are in a great position in terms of depth (Right Back / RWB). Tanner is doing well, and Wilson will provide great competition. A year ago we would have considered Right Back one of our weakest positions.

Tanners form, means that there’s no immediate need to rush Wilson’s rehabilitation.

  4. Great to see that the club are sorting out the long-term futures of players.

Players such as Tanner, will be key to both the present and future. He’s has made huge progress this season.

I would like to see Pring and Conway the next announced.

Make a move for Jerry Yates the day after the season ends. Please and thanks.

I think he would be perfect for us.

A central figure, who has all the attributes required to suit our front 3.

  6. I’d like to see a front 3 of:

    Mehmeti - Weimann - Sykes

Playing Weimann in a central role allows much more fluidity with his movement.

Sykes and Mehmeti seem to be our best wide options. Sykes in particular seems to be the bright spark in the first half of games.

When counter attacking, Sykes is currently the ‘out’ ball to allow us to break at pace. However, I would like to see Weimann be the link in the central area to draw the defenders in to him, similar to how we saw him utilised in the ‘Martin/Semenyo’ system.

  7. Last week some were rubbing their hands at the thought of playing Cardiff and Huddersfield back-to-back.

6 points available, we take 1.

The reality is that these are the teams we struggle against.

Any team that sets themselves up with a defensive low-block, we can’t break down.

We expect every team to come and attack us for 90 minutes, and hope to hit them on the counter-attack.

  8. I can’t stand when we result to chucking all attackers on the pitch when we are losing.

Our main strength is our ability to counter attack at pace. However, when we have 5 attackers on the pitch, it limits our space in key areas.

I also question what our long-term plan is for Cornick. So far he has been used as a target man type (flick ons), but today he was expected to play as a winger. Real mixed messages there.

Weimann looks far from the player he was last season. There’s no doubt that the constant changing of positions is a factor in that. Personally, I would like to see him given a go as the ‘9’. Press from the front. He’s always trying to get into the box, so will give Sykes something to aim at when we counter attack.
