Liverpool, once credited with an interest, are about the receive a windfall with selling Henderson and Fabinho. I know they have already signed two midfielders but I assume that was always their plan. Could the additional cash maybe tempt them into looking at Scott?

It certainly becomes a possibility that they may look at Scott due to their increasing need to achieve homegrown status.

They were already close to the minimum requirement, and Henderson’s departure would only enhance their need to recruit players that have progressed through homegrown academies.

15 mil seems low - but nobody knows the full offer.

    15 mil - no

But 15 mil plus 5 mil for 50 games played at Bournemouth and 30% sell-on (full sale price to new club) makes it a whole new beast.

If Scott is sold in 2025 to a another club for 50 mil then its 20 mil (clause triggered + original price) plus 30% of 50 mil - another 15.

In 18 months we get a windfall of 20 mil from the games played and add-ons clauses

All of a sudden we have got 35 mil for AS - and Bournemouth are only out the 15 + 5 with the new club paying them 50 mil, they would get 35 mil after the sell-on clause.

We get 35 mil in total

Bournemouth get Scott for 18 months for a profit 15 mil (35 mil balance minus original fee + games played clause)

New club get AS for 50 mil

It's a bit short-sighted to go 15 mil - nah, without knowing the full offer.

Everyone wins in this scenario, us, Bournemouth and Alex.

    2p

Sell on clauses are often based on a percentage of any profit made from the previous transfer.

If Scott were to leave us for say £20m (with a 20% sell on clause), and Bournemouth then went on to sell him for £40m, we would only be entitled to a 20% share of the £20m profit that Bournemouth had made.

Therefore only securing us a further £4m. Which takes us to around the point of our rumoured asking price anyway.

  3. West Ham are making their move according to sources at their end. (ExWHUemployee - via West Ham (C)entral - TWITTER)

Interesting dynamic now, as we know they have money to spend. Meet the asking price, or no deal.

I’ll be sad to see Scott go, as he’s a brilliant young player, who will only get better and better.

But, If he is to leave, at least we will have the majority of the window to strengthen the squad, instead of last minute panic buys.

They network closely with ‘ExWHUexployee’ who is extremely reliable.

They state that the interest is genuine, but have only held conversations with Scott’s representatives at the moment.

There is also reported interest from PSG for Lucas Paqueta. This could push West Ham into requiring 3+ new midfielders (Rice, Paqueta and Lanzini - Released) would all need replacing.

Scott, Zakaria, Ward-Prowse, Onana and Paulinha are the names mentioned.

The German League is a lot different though to the Italian league. Has there been any English Youngster that has gone to Italy?

Samual Iling-Junior is currently at Juventus, and doing well.

English youngsters are getting more opportunities abroad, and all credit to them for doing so.

I always remember Ray Wilkins speaking on Talksport that English players (if not getting opportunities at prem teams) should make the Premier League buy back their talent. And that’s what’s now happening on a more regular basis.

Unfortunately, English clubs don’t have the patience required for young talents. Instead they will go and spend £30m on a player the same age from Spain etc.

Think Jason Knight currently, seems like a more defensive version of Andi. Not necessarily one of the best in the league at any one thing (semenyo -pace&power, scotty beating a man/chance creation) but very good all around. As the stats shown by @Davefevs suggest.

Can understand why people at first might turn their noses up, might not be the flashiest or the most intriguing player to watch, but not every player can be.

Seems very adept in the press, composed, passes well and good tackling. Imo all of what I want from a central midfielder.

Seems that some forget he’s also only 21 as well, if we do end up spending 2m or around there on him, it’s clear that he’s favoured by Pearson because he has a plan for him. Might see him as a Korey smith type, hassles opponents and doesn’t give them space. Or a Josh Brownhill, deep chance creation etc.

A Pearson transfer hasn’t let me down yet, except Wilson (injuries most likely ruined his city career), so I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt on this one.

    Our midfield needs a runner.

We currently lack an ‘intense’ press from the middle of the pitch.

Conway is fantastic at pressing the defence, but often once that 1st line is broken (past Conway), then it’s relatively comfortable for the opposition when in possession.

Weimann and Knight would allow us to maintain that intensity, and not give the opposition a moments rest.

percy seems to have the inside track at Derby, so they seem to be briefing him to push the fee up "getting closer"

Piercy has the inside track here and the club seem to be briefing that we've reached our upper limit "may not go back".

A case of both clubs looking to get the best deal. We will see. Signing a player for more than we value him at isn't the route we should take. Nor is it one I anticipate us taking.

Percy is also friendly with Nige’s agent if I’m correct?

Seems to have been reporting on us a lot more during Nige’s tenure.

    I struggle with this.

The selling club will set a price during the early stages of the negotiation.

I don’t believe we would make 2 bids without the intention of getting close or matching said price.

I would expect a fee to be agreed with the next bid submitted.

Bernardo Silva also rumoured to leave as well. And KDB is in his thirties. If we kept him this window and he performed as well/better then he has so far I could easily see Man City coming in for him next season. Think they have to many proven first team players to replace for him to be a priority rn tho.

Unfortunately this is the worst possible scenario.

    1. Next summer, he will have 12 months left on his contract.

    2. Value will decline due to contract length.

    3. Top 4 team offers no re-sell value in regards to ‘sell on %’.

If he leaves this summer, it’s with our best wishes and a hefty fee to match.

Otherwise, the best we can hope for is he renews his contract for a further 12 months, with a fixed release clause fee (£25m etc).

  10. If we manage to complete this one, then I’m delighted.

It would be one of the best transfer windows for quite some time. Our squad would look much stronger, with genuine competition for places.

Pearson and Tins know exactly who they want. Knight fits the description from Tins ‘Sound of the City’ interview.

Been a while since I've been round these parts. Just thought I'd stick my head in to say you've got a good one here.

Predominantly played LB for us but the left of the centre backs in a back 3 and didn't look out of place in either. Excellent engine, good on the ball, decent pace, can move well with the ball, just his end ball was lacking too frequently when playing out wide.

Based on what we saw I think he may struggle at CB in a back 4 but wouldn't put it past him.

Probably the biggest compliments are you never thought he was a 20yr old learning the game last season and hard to pinpoint any goals as being obviously down to him. Good player.

    Appreciate the feedback about Roberts.

His signing is a step in the right direction for us. Our signings seem to highlight a range of age groups to help balance the squad.

He seems composed for someone so young, and represents low-risk with the potential of high-reward.

I’m interested to get your opinion on Knight and Bird this summer. Do you have hope of keeping them? And if not, where would be their most likely destination? (Top end champ / mid table etc)

  12. Fantastic early business!

I believe that the 3 signings are following on from the Semenyo sale.

This has allowed us to address key areas of the squad, and add depth to the defence.

Further business will centre around Scott. As most of us expect, a sale is the most likely outcome. This should allow us to further improve 2/3 positions.

I could see another 4 players arriving through the rest of the summer.

plus however the Kalas situation plays out. Personally, I see him staying.

I've been watching some clips of Roberts. Firstly its hard to gauge a player on the limited bits I've seen so take this with a pinch of salt however I'll give my take.

He's definitely smaller in stature than your conventional CB (if played there) although has got a deceptively good leap. If played at LB/LWB he seems to win more headers.

Has decent feet and can play in tight spaces, can dribble with the ball. When dribbling when played as a CB he has good acceleration to burst into midfield. When dribbling as a LB/LWB he seems to feint that he's going to recycle possession back to other defenders or the goalkeeper and spin the opposing attacker who is pressing.

Seems to drift inside quite alot but can also burst down the wings, when he gets into space I think he needs to work on crossing earlier as he has a tendency to hit the player attempting to block when pressed.

Pace wise he looks quicker than Dasilva but less than Pring.

When tackling he seems to avoid going to the ground and remains on his feet. Doesn't seem like a push over and plays with a little bit of an edge.

All in all I think he has all the tools to do well with us. You can see he's come from a decent academy and although he has things to work on he already has very good attributes.

Very good summery, and sounds rather similar to a young Joe Bryan.

A good leap, and winning headers from a wide position.
