  1. I think signing both is a real possibility.

4-3-3 seems to suit us perfectly, and our wide options are minimal in the sense that we only really have Sykes and Bell (striker).

Cornick/Sykes would cover the right side, whereas Mehmeti/Bell are then options for the left.

Conway, Weimann, Wells as central options.

This would give us a wide range of options.

  2. This is the one I was most hopeful for, ahead of the deadline. So this sounds very promising.

We must maintain the competition for places amongst the forward line, and adding Cornick will continue to set those high standards.

He will also add flexibility to formations with his ability to play centrally or out wide.

  3. I enjoyed watching Scott after the game today.

He ran over to congratulate Bell, and then shared a moment with Francois.

The lad has everything in regards to technical ability, that much we already knew. But it’s his role as a leader that is equally as impressive.

He is like a seasoned professional at such a young age, a quality that few have at such an early stage of their career. Bellingham looks to have the same traits, as did Gerrard when he burst into the scene many years ago.

Those characteristics are what can set players apart.

He is heading to the very top of the game.

  4. Every now and again when I see the LJ thread appear, I ask myself the one real important question…..

What on earth happened to that 100000 inch TV screen he was so desperate for?

He copied the idea from a German club (Hoffenheim?) and begged SL for it.

There’s no way Nige is using that thing in training.

I bet it cost a fortune! We really did throw money at anything at that time.

  5. Pearson giving nothing away in his Radio Bristol interview over potential incomings.

    - He states that it all depends on the individuals that we want being available.

    - He highlights that we are light on the ground, in regards to numbers.

    - When pressed for specific number of signings wanted, Pearson says that there are a number of ongoing situations, so we will have to wait and see what happens.

  6. I’d be delighted with this.

Cornick is a player I really like. A very intelligent player, good movement and can chip in with goals.

Similiar to Weimann in some ways, but with a low centre of gravity. Keeps the ball very close to his feet when dribbling (like Scott), which allows him to shift balance easily.

I thought we were better off accepting £8m last week? ???

If I’m honest, I think it’s great money for him.

Do I believe he is a £15m player currently? No. I think £10m would be fair, anything more is fantastic.

But he certainly has the potential to be a £15m-£20m player within 2 years or less, and is starting to show his ability in recent weeks.

My concern is that he blows hot and cold in spells, as seen at the start of this season.

However, he is our second most valuable player in the squad, and the money must reflect his value to us on the pitch, and I’m glad we aren’t backing down to the Prem teams.

The only factor that pushes me to think we will sell, is his contract length. We won’t get this money offered again in the summer.

Ah, yeah, you did mention that yesterday didn’t you?

Johansson has extended in the past week.

A nice bit of shared information from each of us there.

I just added on a separate post that Jed Steer might be a reasonable option.

out of contract this summer, and cheap wages.
