Hoping the fact he has been to the club and had a look around and presumably met NP that he would be signing.

Usually a delay between the player looking around, and then committing to signing.

The Rob Dickie and Kane Wilson (last season) signing videos gave an insight to this. On both occasions Dave Rennie said “good to see you again”, and was up-to-date on what the player had been up to. In Dickies case, Rennie was aware that he had got married, and For Kane Wilson he knew he had flown back from holiday.

I reckon a week or so and this one could be announced.

  2. If/when Scott leaves, I would like to see two midfielders arrive.

Knight would also be top of my list.

One being a controller/battler and the second being a creator/10.

We need more goals from midfield. It’s the one minor concern I have going into the season. I feel we may over-rely on Conway as a source of goals. He’s a natural finisher, but it’s a big ask to put that much responsibility on him at this stage of his development. FWIW, I do believe he will get 15+ this season.

Some of the funds received for Scott to be used on Knight, + a creator, and an additional source of goals. We would be in a fantastic place going into the season.

One name I would be tempted to try for would be Matt Crooks (Middlesbrough). He is so physical, and contributes with goals. His playing time has reduced since Carrick arrived due to their possession based style of play. I just wonder if he may become available as the window progresses.

  3. The groundwork for this seasons squad has been set. The additions in defence of Dickie, McCrorie and potentially Roberts look to make us much harder to beat. There is now decent competition amongst our back-line.

My impression is that these deals were always our priority this summer. I feel additional business could centre around Alex Scott’s future.

If he were to leave for a big fee, I can see us reinforcing our centre midfield, and possibly a striker arriving (Conways goals alone might not be enough).

Overall, we look much stronger on paper. We look to have much more depth in certain positions, and the ability to rotate without weakening the starting 11.

Im excited for the season ahead.

  4. Set to join up with the Scotland team tomorrow.

Medical and media duties should be completed tonight as @Davefevs mentioned.

@Bcfcshags already stated that Tuesday (tomorrow) was the scheduled day for the announcement anyway.

The international caps included as ‘add-ons’ could end up coming into play earlier than expected if he can secure himself a regular place in the Scotland squad.

  5. This is fantastic business.

He has shown that his is capable of being a top-end championship defender.

He has been playing in a poor side that contains some very good individuals (Willock, Dieng and Dykes being examples).

The price seems like brilliant value.

I thought exactly the same, That's why I believe the rumours that the club own a couple of flats, or has regular access to them. I think Kalas was in one when he first arrived too, and Taylor-Moore.

Club also own a couple of flats/apartments on the Portishead marina.

These were commonly used by loan players in the past (mostly under LJ).

I had family living in the area so would see the players regularly.

Richard O’Donnell was based in one, and I think I vaguely remember James Tavernier being another.

Im not sure we would, or should be spending a million on a project left back from lthe lower leagues? 300k for tanner was a punt worth taking, but thats a lot of money, especially if bryan does sign,,, that could be used for centre backs instead!

Estimated £600k was the price in January.

For a 21 year old left back, let’s say likely to sign a contract of 4 years for £3-5k a week.

Not much of a risk at all.

This is the market we are shopping in. Long-term potential, higher future value.

FWIW I believe we will bring in a centre back (2 if Kalas leaves), but feel they will be free transfers.

Can anyone see a scenario whereby JB signs and Dasilva also stays, or, Currie also signs?

Yes, I still think this happens.

Currie will be seen as a long-term project, similar to when Tanner was signed.

We will sign smart this summer, but Nige will also want depth in key positions.

Currie could arrive as cover/3rd choice (initially), whilst have the benefit of not having to rush his development in the 1st year.
