Release clause for Jackson based on a quick search is £27m. Not cheap!
21 years old,
Transfermarkt have his stats as:
- 77 games
- 11 goals (7 of which were for Villarreal ‘B’ team).
- 33 games, and 3 goals for Villarreal first team.
Crazy money.

Bournemouth seem to be focusing their attention on Nicholas Jackson (Villarreal) currently.
Southampton were previously keen.
It was rumoured recently that Southampton also had interest in Semenyo.
Wonder if this would cause Southampton to make a move for Antoine…

Highly unlikely, but a loan for Sarkic would suit us perfectly. I wonder if a deal could be done.
He was very good for Birmingham (loan) previously.

Relegation battle today against Florist.... 10k !
In the greatest league in the world!
I would be amazed if Bournemouth avoid relegation. It’s a tough place to attract players.

Where do you get the extra 3k from ?
Just did a quick Google search, didn’t realise the capacity is actually only 11,000.
I always new the stadium was small, but not that small.
I hope I haven’t always been overcompensating when it comes to numbers….

That’s a big assumption that money is the primary / only driver.
Lots more parts of the decision. If Bournemouth offer him £5k more than Palace, I bet you he goes to Palace.
I agree that there are many other factors other than money.
For a team like Bournemouth, the stadium has to be a negative.
Playing in front of 20,000 at Ashton Gate, to suddenly 13,000 at Bournemouth doesn’t highlight the ‘glamour’ of the premier league.
Palace (example) have brilliant home support, and are more established. They are definitely a bigger attraction, even on less wages.
IMO Bournemouth are a hard sell.

IF a deal goes through, I really hope we have a deal agreed for a replacement that is ready for immediate sign off.
Much like the Webster deal. Flint was sold, and Webster signed immediately.

My gut feeling is that Bournemouth try again today.
Danjuma has reportedly rejected Bournemouth and has picked Everton (relegation rivals) instead.
They could get desperate.

Two things that quite strongly suggest this will happen soon:
1) Antoine has already agreed terms so obviously wants to go
2) The stories leaking the bids are from the Bournemouth side, meaning this is being done deliberately to put pressure on City to sell, and of course to unsettle Antoine.
Also the reports from Ghanaian reporters point towards information coming from the players representatives.
One reporter stating that a third bid is being prepared.
My concern at this point, is being left short of attacking options this weekend, should a deal be agreed beforehand.
-
I have a feeling this gets done quickly.
They want him signed before 12pm tomorrow in order to be able to play this weekend.
If Semenyo has agreed terms, negotiations could continue today/tomorrow morning.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Semenyo is on his way to Bournemouth (medical) in case clubs agree fee.

It will be interesting to see the players response to this.
Im not doubting his character at all, but players can be the driving force these days.
Knowing a Prem club has come in for you could be a distraction.
Lets hope Semenyo is happy to let his football do the talking and keep up his brilliant form.

That said, generally speaking we haven’t lost many players to them in recent years through of scouting or otherwise. Will Armitage (Portishead lad) got passed on by us, ended at Cheltenham then signed by Saints for £200k last year. Alfie Jones (Long Ashton), went straight to Saints now without being looked at by us, playing every week for Hull which massively grinds my gears but can’t win ‘em all.
Alfie Jones left Southampton on bad terms, I was told. He went out on loan to Gillingham, and upon returning they knew next to nothing about how he performed.
Should have been on our radar, but at the same time, Southamptons network was thriving at this time.
Certainly a missed opportunity.

The switch to a back 4 will suit him much better.
Allows him to do his job and defend.
The 3-5-2 / 5-3-2 / 5-2-1-2 didn’t give him any protection when the right-wing back progressed forward, or was beaten by the opponent.
The back 4 allows for a solid defence that hold their line, bar Pring who is allowed to venture forward. But Naismith would drop into cover when Pring advances.
Tanner offers stability. Something that Vyner will thrive off. It allows him to be a ball-winner, and have options closer to him when looking for a pass.
Too often previously, he won the ball and was forced into attempting long-range passes, which isn’t his strength.
Credit to him, he has got better and better as the season progresses. He’s taken his chance and deserves the praise he is getting.
I wasn’t convinced at all early on this season, but he has impressed me since. It’s great to see him and Pring become regulars.

It might get overlooked but….
7 Academy graduates (including Semenyo) played tonight.
Plus Kadji in the squad as well.
That’s a fantastic achievement for the club.

Joe Williams seems to be in great form recently.
He’s starting to show the performances that he did for Wigan.
Wont be long until he forces himself back into the starting 11.
Always good to have competition for places.

That would be worse case though surely . If it’s that late we can’t replace him. What with our league position that would be playing Russian roulette
Absolutely it’s worse case, as it gives us no time to sort a replacement, but unfortunately it’s how these things often play out.
I would rather not lose him at all, but I have a feeling the prem teams will leave it as late as possible.
-
This will go right up to the deadline I think.
Lets just hope he remains in the same form until then. Could cause some sort of a bidding war.
Teams will get desperate.

Bournemouths new owners have just completed a takeover of Lorient.
Prepare for more of these deals to happen.
Much like Watford and Udinese.

Players bouncing off him again today, somewhere near to the Semenyo we have all fallen in love with, (well most of us). 5 games ago he would not have taken that full back on to create the 4th goal. He just blew him away. We will miss that when he goes. I hope his injury was just a knock.
I think there was a moment where he remembered Kevin Long was on a yellow card, and he know he had him every time (even though he’s too fast and strong anyway).
He came alive in that second half.

Gary O’Neil complaining that Muff don’t have goals in them.
However Brentford would be a good club for him. Fulham have had long standing interest as well. Not sure going anywhere that he might get relegated is a good move.
Bournemouth haven’t scored a goal since the World Cup break. They might get desperate.
Fulham is a good shout. But with Mitrovic it’s not an easy move for any striker to agree to (knowing you’ll be back-up).
Palace would be another, where he could make an instant impact.
-
He was getting frustrated with the Ref (who gave him nothing all game), and gave some soft fouls for Brum.
Good player management from Nige.
Scott gets a lot of yellows, no need for a suspension. Plus Williams freshened things up at the right time.

Collins is no longer out of contract. Barnsley triggered a one year extension yesterday.
He would have been my choice, as I think he is a very good keeper at this level.
I think Johansson (Rotherham) might be approaching the end of his contract. He’s another I have been impressed with. Highest shot % in the division I believe.
Someone like Gillespie (Newcastle) might be a reasonable option on a short term deal.
