  1. As one of their players also encroached, not far behind Klose, wonder if the ref thought that cancelled each other out. Well he was that good wasn't he!
  2. Surprised so many are going for Williams inclusion. If we go with back three it was proved in the last game that he does not seem to have the legs or nous to provide defensive cover. Even MP commented on how Bell was left exposed.
  3. Personally from memory I didn't think he did to bad defensively. Problems were caused on his side by Williams being poor at supporting him and covering. Williams was even pointing at him to cover the run of other players when it was obvious it was Williams's responsibility. Yes he made mistakes on the ball but that was going forward. Assume NP took him off because of this and didn't want him to get to dispirited.
  4. Just came across the Mansfield and Bolton programmes. Anyone want them? PM me, can bring them to the game today.
  5. Didn't beat Division 5 Wrexham's gate though.
  6. It's called deceptive pace Dave. I had it when I played. I looked quicker than I actually was.
  7. Yes but not intentionally. Did you not see the distance he put the ball over the crossbar at the Atyeo end. Could not have been unintentional.
  8. If you look carefully you can see two sets of railings and I believe these lined the inclined ramp at the Ashton Rd entrance ( now to the Dolman Stand ) adjacent to Crackers Corner. A bit of an optical illusion.
  9. Thanks, little one just found this as well.?
  10. Correct and that's what I consider "the old floodlights". Could even lower the whole floodlight to the ground when not required so as they didn't block the view of the pitch. Tried to find a photo of them but couldn't. No doubt someone will. Not sure where they went when the four corner ones were installed.
  11. To use a word I actually detest, ABSOLUTELY.
  12. Watched about an hour of today's U23 game and was not impressed by AB. Rarely beat a man, played no decisive passes with some being misplaced. Maybe it was Cardiff's style of play that stiffeled him if so it was successful.
  13. Glen Roeder of Newcastle was a great exponent of this type of step over. I copied him and got away with it a few times. Trick is to play a couple of passes with the outside of the foot past an opponent just out of reach and he is then sucked into the final dummy one expecting another pass.
  14. I don't think the ref knew either as it was stop the watch for an injury, restart the watch when the sponge man left the pitch and play restarted. Hence the match always lasted for 90 minutes on the ref's watch.
  15. Weren't the players doing Cotts a favour? Remember Joe Bryan being unable to clear the first man with his crosses every time he tried. Very suspicious.
  16. I also found this out when I started talking to the wife again due to the first lock down.
  17. Agree entirely Harry. Saw all these calls for the options Cam had so thought be had completely mucked up by trying to beat a man in a dangerous area. Highlights only showed the Preston attacking phase from out wide. Then someone posted a clip from a Preston fan showing the whole play from when we robbed the ball and Cam set off. I'll bet the City fans were more than willing him on as he broke away with Semenyo on hand as well. Probably not many shouting for him to go to the corner or whack it into row Z. If he had he would have been chastised. Although the loss of the ball ultimately led to the equaliser as he broke the the rest of the team should have been automatically taking up their positions to keep a decent shape particularly as Cam was out of position. Plenty of other slack play went on notwithstanding the space created, by pulling away from his marker, by the goal scorer.
  18. I just found out my brother is a kleptomaniac, but it's alright he's taking something for it.
  19. Blimey BR have you not been to watch us for the past 10 years!
  20. Happened today in front of me. Four youngsters stood up, blocking our view, videoing our fans celebrating our third goal after Cardiff restarted the game. Had to politely request them to kindly refrain from inhibiting our sightlines and requested them to return their posteriors to their seats, please.
  21. Thought today was the opposite.
  22. But haven't you got to keep the ball below head height?
