“This town ain’t big enough for the both of us…”
redysteadygo replied to Silvio Dante's topic in Football Chat
The local non league teams will have to go some to beat Minehead's achievement of finishing second in the Southern Prem League to Wimbledon the year they got promoted to the football league. That was after beating Swansea 1-0 at the Vetch Field in the F.A. Cup 1st round and then loosing narrowly at Portsmouth. -

That's if it's the left one.

Not sure anyone will know what percentage of a footballers tax would go to a particular charity. However if a donation is made, and gift aided, 25% will be added to the donation from the tax the footballer has paid.

No mention of Trevor Tainton? Third highest appearances behind Carey and Big John.

Years ago when I did a bit of part time youth work I was trying to explain to a wayward sixteen year old how a different course of action might improve his life and see him in a lot less trouble. "Can't tell me what to do, nobody controls me". He was already on drugs and nearly reliable on them. Enough said, they just don't get it.

Who'd have thought it.

My problem with Towler is that in his spell at left back in the first team was that I did not see him play a forward pass. It was all shape up to play down the line or look for a central pass through the thirds but he appeared to lack confidence to ensure an accurate outcome so came back on his inside to play a left footed pass either square or backwards. At the time this type of play was driving us all mad due to the lack of penetration and slowing down of progress upfield. He looks more like a central defender to me and surely must be behind Pring, O'Dowda and even daSilva who have far more experience and ability to play wing back.

can you name these Bristol City players legends?
redysteadygo replied to Never to the dark side's topic in Football Chat
Hi C A. I recently added Alec's name to another topic where several left backs with surnames beginning with B were mentioned. Like Alec I was a former right footed full back who played on the left so rembered him when your post came up. I too had my doubts so tried a check and came up with the following link. I just had to trust it is authentic. https://www.howold.co/person/alec-briggs -

I was "dragged" up in Knowle West in the 1950s and was taught respect by my parents and giving a clip around the ear if. I transgressed. I can swear as good as the next man when in the company of the "lads" and when I was at work. However, it's a no, no when in the company of ladies and children even in a football ground.

I've said on here before, always take what players claim they are paid with a pinch of salt. Especially the "stars" of the local leagues.

I was listening on the radio and it appears a player was aware of a medical incident in the crowd and gesticulated to his bench and the team physio and doctor went to aid and I think we're the first medical assistance there. Maybe that was. what the game was stopped.

From the title of the post I thought the head coach was going to play himself so that he could demonstrate to the team how he required "the press" to be carried out. Nige! Presser!

redysteadygo replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
To us old un's there are some great players named there especially Stanley Mathews who helped Stoke to the Second Division in 1933 and 1963 That's 30 years apart. Inconceivable now.
