  1. My memory of Pitman was that he was a team player and if in the area with a possible shooting chance but a colleague was in a better position he would play them in unlike a certain striker we have at the moment.
  2. Probably, but we didn't manage the "packing" bit.
  3. Our throw in technique is pretty dire and takes for ever. Are our free kicks any better?
  4. Was working in Edinburgh and on Jock TV saw a programme where they worked out the size comparison between goals and the average height of males(goalkeepers) when the rules are first introduced. With the current height of keepers the goals they experimented with were huge. They then played a game and the attacking teams still played as normal until they realised there was a lot more space around the keeper that they could score in. Blimey did the shots start raining in then from all angles and distances. Would certainly make for some high scoring games.
  5. Didn't Dickie Rooks only do " thumping headers" regardless of where on the pitch?
  6. I went to Connaught Rd school and when we played Novers Lane at football "Mr Nicholls" their football teacher used to either referee or run the line. He would really tear into the team shouting and bawling and generally berating them. Even as a 10 year olds we felt this was over the top and not very dignified for a teacher. "Big" Mr Davis our sports teacher, as opposed to another teacher "Little" Mr Davis, was the complete opposite always encouraging and giving advise. I then went to Hengrove School and in my class was Mr Nicholls daughter who I believe had gone to Knowle Park Junior School. She wouldn't believe the stories I told her about how her dad behaved at school football matches telling us he was such a quiet man. Strange what football can do at all levels.
  7. Must admit that from age fourteen to early fifties I played regularly and only got to games when they didn't coincide with our matches. So I haven't suffered the same agony as other long time serving fans.
  8. Brylcreem didn't come until I was in senior school.
  9. Dad took me in either 55 or 56 on the railings in front of Crackers Corner.
  10. Yep, folded down and raised for night games and winter Sat 3.00.pm kick offs.
  11. Probably not a Carpenters "Jambalaya" fan either. Still, we both share a love of the City.
  12. Not a Roy Orbison fan then ?
  13. With the salary being banded about I don't think you would earn enough to need to start repaying fees.
  14. Far worse when the better half is holding your hand and hasn't got your confidence. You walk, she stops and pulls you back and it's bloody carnage!
  15. Could always go back to fences around the pitch! This is the sort of behaviour they were introduced for.
  16. I've ways thought the crowd could start the six second chant, in unison, to remind the ref and maybe gee the keeper up a bit. Would also be more productive than throwing shoes around.
  17. How about introducing a rule that "when the goalkeeper picks up the ball he has then got 6 seconds to release it from his hands".
  18. Think they shared with Gillingham for a couple of seasons then spent several years at the Withdean before going to the new ground.
  19. Williams does this for him.
  20. Try bustimes.org It has timetables but also a map that tracks the buses on the selected route. Beware though the tracking is about 2 minutes behind actual bus location but at least you know if there are buses on the route and their locations.
  21. Have just remembered the correct t shirt printing which was prompted by a TV advert for electricity at the time the Eastville feckers tried to grab our ground when we went into administration. It read "We don't want the gas we're all electric"
  22. Didn't we have t shirts printed " We hate the gas We're all electric"
