  1. Yeah im inclined to agree. I dont really see how suddenly in august our defence will be fixed and we might get to see some consecutive wins. We just arent set up to stop crosses coming in and stop goals going in. For that tough a character, discipline in defence should be the pre requisite of everything he stands for.
  2. I dont think it matters how many we play back there, there is no appetite to actually defend and be hard to beat. We have 2 experienced international centre backs now, a decent championship keeper behind them, and it still makes no difference!
  3. Hes a multi million pound footballer, surely he should use his right foot for more than just standing on?!
  4. Yep, me too, i tell my mrs hes my adopted son, what a player
  5. Im not really looking to, and i dont believe i have the ability to whip up ill feeling amongst a support numbering tens of thousands, but im trying to understand the situation that happened 40 years ago, which is current news as they were all on the pitch at the weekend.
  6. Cool, if this was our current squad that got us relegated to league 2, the level of animosity towards them would be unbelievable, yet thats not how the 8 are remembered. I understand the levels of salary arent the same as now, but they were still making a good living, yet some of them, in some form, must have been horrifically underperforming? im trying to get some idea of whose responsibility it was that the collapse was that bad.
  7. Thanks,, how instrumental were they in the successive relegations? Is it fair to say At least some of these players were part of a squad with one of the worst records ever in english football?
  8. Fevs. I wasnt old enough to attend until the mid 80s, but obviously the story of the 8 is well known…. Ive always been a little confused about the role played by the 8 in the successive relegations,, were they all key members of the squad who went from 1st division to 4th? Did any of them, as free agents, go back up the leagues?
  9. I think hes made for palace!
  10. Yes, really talented player. Rip
  11. I have been critical of pearson in the past, but i called out jon lansdown on another thread the other day about his comments, what did he really expect would happen this season?! however, at the point of the man united victory, up until the wolves game in the league, not many on here would have considered us being back to square 1,, we were playing at a level that had evolved past the promotion side at that point.. We couldnt sustain it through to the end of the season and then the big money sales started, but the square 1 comment doesnt really ring true for me.
  12. We dont hear from the chairman in months when we know hes been in bermuda, but he expects us to be doing better??!! Talk about do as i say not as i do.
  13. With a new stadium, like the emirates, or the etihad, thats all they have ever been known as. Ashton gate has had that name for 100 years, and officially renaming it wont change what people call it
  14. Very good, though i dont quite know what they do?i wonder how this works, did mansion bet not see the appeal of another over acheiving season with bristol city?
  15. And if we could he seems to be in the same situation as bakinson,, bombed out regardless of what our situation is.
  16. Pogba is a shocking player. Hes the definition of someone who loves being a footballer rather than loves playing the game… quite a lot of that french team have the same issue.
  17. The leicester players were high quality, but it was 6/7 years ago that team went together. There was an obvious risk with the simpson and king signjngs, and james has had long term injuries too. Baker was always going to be a risk, atkinson was initially in favour, then dropped, now no one knows whats happening, and tanner was a league 2 right back who might or might not turn into a good signing, but was cheap enough to take a risk on. weimann has been fantastic, but several of those signings were clearly questionable at the time.
  18. They have also given english football 2 of the most influential figures in its history.
  19. Dont worry, we have a years worth of niges defensive expertise to see us through!
  20. Have to say that like him or not, rooney has done an amazing job there, pulling that around was practically impossible.
