  1. They certainly were rubbish at it,, but when they are going to the owner saying steve we really need marley watkins/ an other, why were alarm bells not ringing enough to ask what the plan was for this signing? im not a fan of nige but when he came out and said the plan of selling your best players is crap he hit the nail on the head,, our recruitment is pathetic anyway, but youd need a 50% success rate for that to work financially, and thats without considering the effect on results of selling your best players all the time. for a webster or brownhill theres 6/7 or more brought in who cost fees/ agents fees/ signing on fees/ wages who just werent up to it.
  2. Awesome, i count that as 22, with kodjia coming in the season before i think, and walsh, watkins and szmodics all around the million mark too. While some like elliasson were good performers, most just havent been worth it, we can blame ashton and lj all we want, but lansdown sanctioned all that, bringing players in to hopefully generate a big profit, when really we had to sell our crown jewels to keep the whole mess ticking over another year.
  3. Ha, i looked it up on transfermarkt, it isnt pretty reading!
  4. Have to agree, i wonder how many players weve signed for 1 million or more since we came back up? And how many of those would be considered as successful?
  5. Always came across as a great lad, but signings (and contract extensions) like this are one of the reasons we are now in the financial mess we are.
  6. This sunmer will be wierd, its a matter of who we can get off the books rather than who we sign. I believe wells palmer kalas and bentley will have 1 year left, if we can get money in from at least 2 of them, but free up wages of all 4 that should make some difference to the budget!
  7. Saw adebola shopping in marks and sparks once,,, he was massive
  8. I suspect coming here isnt high on his list of priorities after his experience here as a player!
  9. He also had karleigh osborne, el abd, martin paterson, brendon maloney, tyrone barnett, nyron nosworthy and simon gillett. And that team had just been relegated and were in free fall badly enough that odriscoll was fired.
  10. Haha, please feel free to **** right off then. You think some of our other managers came in with a worse squad than pearson? What did cotts come into? idiot.
  11. Dont know if hes a naughty boy, but hes just about the worst manager, statically weve ever had. Performances are shocking, our defending is appalling, and good will amongst supporters to everyone at the club is very low. Weve made players millionaires when they should never have got those contracts, and it appears we are likely to get relegated next season. pearson is crap. Ashton was a charlatan, lansdown got suckered in to giving repeated contracts to poor players and managers. We have 2/3 players with any type of transfer value and when they are sold we will be stuck with poor worthless players either injured or not very good. Or both. just as well we have a high performance centre.
  12. Matty king is better nige goes on about the club being passive, and lacking leaders, well hes been here for basically 1.5 seasons, whats he done about it? as one of the most senior people in the club he should have come in, made us hard to beat and set us up properly yet we are being booed off and our fans chant we are embarrassing!
  13. I was thinking that, then realised he was in bermuda for last years transfer window, which is probably the best place tor him.
  14. Its probably passive, but we can have the best scouts in the world, and we would struggle to afford, or justify a 50 grand transfer fee at the moment. All those million pound or so punts over the last 5 years, how could it have been allowed? Someone signed off on all this and now the club is buggered
  15. What do you reckon dave,,, could we/ should we go in for 2/3 top championship free transfers in this next window, and bite the bullet on their wages? Im thinking wallace of millwall and lawrence of derby, plus one of the right backs available… to be financed by releasing whoever we can plus moving out ideally wells or palmer or both? Or do we just not have the budget available to do it?
  16. Sad to say cause no one could have forseen the exact circumstances, but baker’s availability record has been patchy historically, and he hasnt set the world alight when he has played before,,, the initial decision to not extend him was the correct one
  17. I quite appreciate these comments from nige, though im not particularly convinced hes the one who is raising standards or showing where we need to improve, or at least able to do anything about it
  18. Top player, i doubt odowdas old contract and wallaces new one will be that much different as well
  19. I appreciate you are a fan of his,, but the missed attempt at a through ball to pato a season or 2 ago was the final straw for me… and not someone who is too good for the championship. He likes to think of himself as the ace goalscorer,, but he cant get into our team and we are pants. Shocking waste of a transfer fee and big wage for us.
  20. What about engvall, and about 50 goalies to replace fielding?
  21. Have to agree, what a shame, but its one of so many that have been brought in for big fees and salarys and just havent been worth it.
  22. And what a job steve cooper has done,,, wilder too,,, how come our rivals can make these appointments?!
  23. Its the players witth experience, weimann aside who arent really doing it for us, including the leicester has beens who were brought in to keep us steady. the answer is obviously that we will Sell anyone who we get a decent offer for, but we are screwed.
  24. As a young teenage lad i had the pleasure of attending a sports physio course at ashton gate with buster… one day ive gone in and john bailey is sat there with one foot in a bucket of water with wires going in to it…. Small electric pulses to help with an injury according to buster…. Someone suggested that i put my hand in the bucket with johns foot to see if i could feel the pulses seeing as i was closest to him…. As a 13 year old city fan i certainly knew who he was, but wasnt sure why john was looking at me like a lion watching an antelope…. so i put my hand in gingerly…. At which point john shouts “BANG” next to my ear….. i obviously jump a mile and soil my underwear while he and everyone else around cracked up laughing…. Fun times!
