Well I think the answer has to be, you do something different. If we can’t go round them, then we have to go direct. Even the occasional ball over the top wouldn’t hurt now and again, when all else is clearly failing. When Sykes came on I expected to see his usual runs down the wing full of pace etc. but it didn’t happen. We possessed the ball too much at the back reverting to the usual “pass it back” style, with no one being brave enough to create something or anything else. I think my criticism of LM would be a seeming lack of adapting to the game that’s evolving in front of him. It feels like Plan A is all there is and if that’s not working then bring on the subs without any change in application. It won’t take long for any team to work out how we play.

Agree with much of what you’ve said. I think at the time those being subbed off seemed reasonable but those who replaced them didn’t improve on what we already had. I think we actually missed Mehmeti when he went off. To my mind he was the only one creating anything. Dire wasn’t used to take advantage of his apparent pace so what was the point. Looked totally lost. A total lack of bravery. Don’t think any sub was an improvement over those who were subbed off.

That’s what we thought. I agree we don’t know the whys and wherefores of his being on the bench but somehow I still believe he’d have provided better than we had. Not sure any of the subs made an impact over those who were subbed off.

Personally I think he did recognise at least that they didn’t play well enough. He said forget about tactics, we didn’t get the basics right, but he didn’t appear to have any self awareness of possible poor sub decisions or lack of adaptability in approach to play. Once again there didn’t seem to be a pan B. Subs also aren’t always automatically the answer. He knew how QPR would play he didn’t underestimate them, it just felt like he didn’t change anything, when it was obvious what we were doing wasn’t working. And this has been a criticism of him in other games. Mebude Little Boy Lost. i think we actually missed Mehmeti after he was subbed, cos he was at least creating something. And to not use Twine but bring on Cornick and Mebude when the thing we were missing was any creativity. No one was being brave or taking initiative. I’d struggle to call a MOTM tbh.

Definitely. Little boy lost. If he’s fast no one was using that element. He seemed a bit fixed in one position. Hopefully time will improve things. And that’s not a criticism of him. Poor decision to pay him.

Think these were helped by whoever the person was asking the questions, second. Thought the questions were excellent and gave LM plenty of scope to elaborate. Good interview.

Fair enough but he’s in the bench. imagine paying as he did on Saturday but still not starting tonight. He always seems to come on when we’re already chasing games. There were a lot of other players who played much longer than he did previously.
