  1. Fair enough generally there is fine if that in the forum, but I think in this specific case, they are looking at his interview, this wasn’t a general “let’s have a go at Manning” .
  2. Didn’t listen to the post match interview, so just out of interest, did he himself do any of the praising of our boys?
  3. You may well be right, but taking that comment in light of his comments about players being at fault, it’s very easy to see, why that interpretation might be the first one. The fact we’ve not really seen him (in the games we’re losing) make any effective changes tactically , it again adds weight to his comment. Subbing players seems to be a by the clock event, not necessarily a tactical move well if it is, it’s lost on me and again adds to his comment. So whereas you may be proved right in the future, for now, that seems to me to be a pretty reasonable interpretation of the comment, given all the above. Not really sure what the second part in bold has to do with LM’s performance?
  4. I think the reason he doesn’t change the way he wants them to play, could be because he actually really believes in it, he’s been trained that way, there’s research to back up its success, so when players don’t play that way on the pitch, his obvious conclusion is it has to be the players, because the system is proven. It’s not dissimilar to other walks of life. Employees do something one way for years, manager says right, we’re all going to do a,b and c this way now and you still find people can’t or won’t change their practice, no matter what. It’s not simply his blaming the players, but it’s rare to hear him single anyone out for praise either.
  5. Well, could be some good debate on whether our bosses/club fit those requirements ?
  6. Well I thought Ian was very quite. He managed in politician like manner, to deflect any questions that really showed what he thought of Manning Good input from @TomSutton @Curr Avon and @Davefevs Thanks for the podcast @headhunter
  7. I think to be fair I agree people can’t claim to know the reasons for any possible change in demeanour of any player, given the multitude of potential scenarios in their lives, but I don’t think you could say it’s not possible for people to read other people’s demeanour or body language. When you watch players week in week out we all definitely get a sense of their general demeanour. For example we all see Williams’ passion, but are you saying we shouldn’t interpret that for passion, cos we don’t know what else is going on in his life?
  8. Yeah have been saying this for weeks Dave . Come in,observe, see the strengths, keep them and slowly coach out bad habits and problems. Also found out how individuals tick. As a manager in any walk of life, you make so much trouble for yourself by coming in and one, expecting everyone to bend immediately and two, expecting people to trust you and your management style, from the get go. I really think that’s one area where age and experience is definitely a bonus.
  9. Although, another take could be that, at the time he’d have probably been worth more than he is at present, he was being played regularly and consistently under NP not subbed on and off for Nhaki, as is the case now. So he could well have thought under NP he’d be picked up like his mate. You may be right, he may sign but I doubt it. Not reading too much into his demeanour, but there is something a bit off.
  10. I’d have to agree having just watch a compilation of 22/23 goals and assists a very different reaction to last night. And that’s an observation not an interpretation of what’s going on with him mentally.
  11. In bold hmmmmm. Was there another manager who lost players, that he’d been involved with developing and it affected his success. Amazing how they fully understood the background to LMs eventual failure at MK Dons, yet could not apply the same logic and understanding with NP, despite very similar circumstances just find that crazy!
  12. But our problems haven’t just been about not winning, they’ve also been about the performances and I can’t say that today. Mistakes yes. But very different from previous performances.
  13. Frustrating but I’ve no complaints on that performance. Well done City.
  14. Well you certainly aren’t happy about this are you. It’s not really having balls is it, being rude? Being a hypocrite? So I’d like you to point to where I’ve ever been rude to anyone on here ever! You’re quite right people do have the option to go on the podcast but it’s not everyone’s thing is it. Not everyone has the time or health etc. The fact they choose not to, doesn’t negate their right to comment At the end of the day I don’t always agree with @headhunter or Neil or @Curr Avon but that makes no difference to how I view them as people, so it’s really not about opinions, as LM would say it’s about behaviours.
  15. I think similarly to other players, TGH has dipped in his performance, but I think you can still be confident of some of the play we saw early on. I can’t believe being subbed on and off is doing any players any good. It feels as if even if they play really well, they’ve not automatically earned their place next time, because LM switches things around all the time, depending on who we play. How’s any team meant to cement their identity that way?
  16. How simple it was. And there’sTommy telling us he’s realised after LM’s coaching that it’s not all about scoring goals, it’s about defending and concentrating on the whole game. I’d imagine NP would say the same to Tommy your job is to run and score goals.
  17. I think you’re right he definitely adds something to the podcast and many have said that they’ve often agreed with him about certain things. It’s not his opinions per se. I think people accept that everyone has their own ideas, what people have a problem with is hearing him suddenly making allowances for LM that he would never allow for NP, despite the fact they share some similar problems injuries etc. it’s not about being “offended” it’s the hypocrisy.
  18. Yeah really enjoyable. Love yours and Tom’s input. I did wonder if Tom had more than the average insight. Very informative. Anyway despite the “entertainment” Ian brings, really balanced podcast and the usual comedy as always from Mark. What more could we ask for.
