As the property you are trying to enter is private property the owners are perfectly entitled to put any pre-conditions they like on you entering their property, providing they do not discriminate on the grounds of a protected characteristic.  Likewise if you don't want to be subject to the attention you don't need to go anywhere near the ground.

In this case the OP said that they were police officers (not representatives of NFFC).

Don't think that football clubs can just apply their own rules with no involvement of the authorities - the involvement of the police at matches isn't optional for football clubs.

If you’ve got nothing to hide you should have nothing to worry about

Thing is that every time this argument is trotted out about something or other it's always about the state taking more control from individuals.

What next, breathalysers for anybody suspected of being over some limit?

Anyway, back to the point at hand - if someone has, say, smoked a joint before the match does it matter? Not to me - it only matters if they go on to do something wrong in the stadium, and if they do they should be punished for the actual offence committed.

This is only the latest in a list of restrictions put of football supporters because somebody  might do somethong wrong. (Crowds fenced in, early kickoffs/bubble games, bags being searched etc).

Well, in theory we all might do something wrong and that doesn't justify the state intruding taking a greater grip of all our lives. Time this nonsense stopped.

Great news, the support has been amazing this season and seems to continue to grow. Also the support away from home has been really good. COYR

Very true. Bears also doing very well for crowds.

Amazing to think that we could do with adding more capacity to the Gate as things are going.

What next - top tier on the South Stand, replace the Dolman or Atyeo stands?

Mickey Mouse is having a nasty divorce with Minnie Mouse.

Mickey spoke to the judge about the separation.

"I didn't say she was mentally insane,

    I said that she's F****** Goofy!"

I've heard Owers and Ian Gay and now posts like this say Manning needs to be able to bring in his own players.

Sorry but wasn't the change made in order to bring in a head coach who could get more out of our current set of players? So why the f are people speaking about him needing money to spend just to get us back to where we were?

I have no problem with us bringing in 2-3 in the window as that's what you'd expect in every Jan window.

My issue is with the excuses people are using for these poor results and performances.

Given that the new manager had the advantage of a number of players getting fit that weren't available to Pearson I would say that we've gone slightly backwards

I absolutely respect you for being able to hold a grudge for so long.

Not really, 'twas just an old joke. A pity he left for us at the time, and as it turned out not good for him in the long run either.

Well do I remember what Nicky Maynard achieved with us, particularly when Paul Hartley was running midfield.

    Here's a reminder:

Yep poor organisation but if you think that is bad take yourself over to gaschat and have a look, the gas are making Bristol sport look like a slick and well organised!

68 minutes waiting and now all sorted. Bad as the phone system/staffing levels have been have to say that the chap on duty was excellent. Polite, efficient - perfect in fact, on what must be a very difficult day.

It took me 1 hour 36 minutes from position 32 in the queue so good luck!

    Great, thanks.

I think by now I think i know how to get to Ashton Gate or what to do with particular error messages.

Was in the club shop looking for something for my grandson. Didn't have anything i wanted.

What is it about this ****ing football cub?

You’d think on a day like today when you’ve only got 24hrs to buy your ST seats for a cup game that they’d have several help lines open to sort problems. That would be far too organised for Bristol sport though

No sooner had I posted my message than i got to the queue. I am currently number 37. Very poor, but very predictable.

I agree that the FA Cup is not as important as it it used to be. In my mind it is entirely the fault of the Chamions League. When only the League winners qualified for the European Cup it meant that winning the FA cup was an important route into European Football so that the prestige and glamour of the competition was preserved.

As soon as 4th place in the league became more important the top teams stopped taking the Cup seriously which severly undermined the competition in the eyes of the public.

Unfortunately I see no way back for the prestige of the competition now as too much damage has been done.

I should also point out that, in the season of the League Cup run, results didn't really turn against us until we had been knocked out so if anything the opposite to what you describe is true.

All sadly true. FA Cup day was a full special day when I was a kid.

Personally I wish that a Champions League place was awarded to the FA Cup winners rather than 4th place in the Prem.

Formed a great partnership up front with Junior Bent.... Remember him very clearly

You joke, but I'll bet that some idiot of a journalist had confused him with the Chief and the rest have just followed on. The article that says he played for City also mentions him playing for Swindon.

Holloway - It's just an absolute, unquestionable "NO" in every possible way!

As you say, he been generally shite at every club, bar Blackpool - but even if he'd emulated Pep throughout his career - I'd rather dig my own eyes with a rusty spoon & fill the holes with shit from a tramps dog, than even entertain the idea of that vile, embarrassing piece of site ever being at our club..!

Excellent - you paint quite a pretty picture there.

Straight red. Violent conduct. Absolutely no need to make that contact.

Refs never like to give cards as a rule in the first minutes of a match though, so get your cynical fouls in then, I say.

Marley Watkins' Elbow will make a good forum name for a new Otib member incidentally....

Wade Elliot springs to mind - sent off in under 3 minutes as Swindon were on their way to winning the league.

It's become ' trendy' to suffer from something it seems, even with some adults. ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, depression seem the most common.

My mates daughter in her 30s has all the above, self diagnosed. As do her mates. They seem to revel in it. It's all they talk about.  It's a proper knitted hat problem whilst thinking the world is about to burn... 🤷

Munchausen's Syndrome, I believe it's called, or maybe the Worried Well.

Often they seek treatment for whatever it is, and they pose a significant strain on the NHS.
