Exactly! Met the bloke on an AG tour. He is as much of an ambassador as the Cheese.

Not sure where any of this comes from. I think someone implied Mr Murray was set for the tin tack. Nuts!

This World has far too many people who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Sad b*ggers.

  2. No idea why people are just talking about a kitman's wages.

True enough Scott is the kitman, but he's also involved in tours, hospitality, foundation stuff, general comms with supporters even to the point of phoning people chasing ST renewals. All this as well as being thoroughly good for morale.

Scott Murray is no ordinary kitman and should be rewarded as such. I think we're lucky to have him.

    Undoubtedly the case.

Yup, it's a pity though - I thought he was on the right lines and deserved more support than he got.  Very unlucky with the timing of his health problems. Hope it turns out well for him.

Not that I imagine that Nige was the easiest man for JL and BT to manage.

I just wish we, if sacking Person was on the cards anyway, had sorted all this in the summer.

Not mid way through the season in pure delusion.

Nothing against Manning, but the the sheer lack of strategic thinking by JL and BT is utterly staggering.

    It's idiotic.

Maybe Nige's unplanned health situation moved things along a bit.

Maybe the plan was to look where we were around Easter and decide then.

Who knows, but it's not necessarily idiotic. Events, dear boy, events...

Not me personally, but I do know one of the blue few who refuses to get anything red, refuses to shop in Sainsburys (because it was all their fault why they haven't got a new Stadium), and he also refused to go to Ashton Gate for his Covid jab! Nuts

    Has he stopped eating fruit?

Agree with @ExiledAjax - On paper we should be a pretty attractive proposition to a new manager.

It would be interesting to know how potential managers view the club's hierarchy though.

Historically, I get the impression that neutrals have seen the Lansdowns as generous owners who are patient with managers. I wonder if this is still the case, or whether recent events make prospective managers somewhat hesitant about taking up a role.

Will managers see us as a bit of a poisoned chalice? Will agents warn managers that working for the Lansdowns can be rather difficult?

Even if you're right what has a new manager to lose? 3 year deal, ends badly after 1. Large payoff and the Football World saying 'Well, it's Bristol City and the Lansdowns - what do you expect?"

    Money for jam...

As a young idiot in my mid teens in the 80s me and three friends did a Ouija board about two weeks after a friend died in a car crash, he was who was summoned up or whatever you call it (yes as tasteless as it gets), various questions were asked and the pointer moved to various answers, we all thought the other person was moving it as i never believed any of that nonsense, but we each took it in turns to take our fingers off and when it was just mine on there it was still moving...... anyway a question was asked when would each of us die, mate number one was 47, me 53 my other mate 57, mate number one died at age 47 six years ago, I put it down to coincidence, but now  me as a previously very fit bloke who has never had anything seriously wrong have had two heart attacks in the last 12 months, the last one two weeks ago, I am 53, to say i am a bit worried would be an understatement, it has made me wonder. If I make it to 54 next March I will update the thread..... a true story.

Could I have first dibs on your season ticket?

Inappropriate jokes aside get yourself a good health check/MOT, even if you have to pay for it. Maybe talk to a a counsellor or something like and then stop worrying about it. Thing is, if you spend all your time thinking and worrying you're giving yourself problems and risk self-fulfilling the prophecy -  a downward spiral you don't want to step on.

I can also recognise an egomaniac narcissist when I see one. And Steve Lansdown is this. He will always inevitably be a detriment to the football club because of his immaturity to handle competent good managers.

    Textbook small man syndrome.

Obviously Tins or super Scott, Wilson had to go either way after that shit show at the Millenium

    Pray tell

Well do I remember that shit show at the Millenium. Brian Tinnion didn't turn up that day and was substituted in the second half.

Nonsense. People were saying the same thing about Pring a year or so ago and look at him now. If there's one thing we've learnt about Pearson is that he's open to giving players a chance.

If he gets his head down, applies himself, and does what Pearson wants him to when he does get on the pitch he has as good a chance as anyone to get in the team.

Yup, Vyner also. Mehmeti certainly has the ability but whether he has the will to make himself championship player isn't clear to me. The best thing he can do is to take in NP's lessons and work hard.

They are as clueless about football as any owner(s) there is

All the Lansdown sect can preach what they like - Ive had enough of them

Indeed, as has been perfectly obvious since the Coppell fiasco.

In fairness he, Burnside and Leroy Rosenior did a good job after the Pulis debacle, taking us all the way to Wembley in AWS final. Still can’t forgive Louis for racing away moaning at the ref whilst Kavanagh fed Thorne for the winner (always wanted both of those at City).

That's for reminding me of that. One of the most unprofessional things I've seen a City player do.

Also remember Billy Mercer had been injured for a while but then miraculously declared himself fit for the final, got beat at the near post by Father Ted (Kavanagh) and then went back on the sick list after the final.

Barton hasn't thrown Thomas under the bus there, he's tied him down onto a railway line and snapped the handles off the points switches.

Couldn't believe what Barton was saying on the way home yesterday. What a dispicable piece of work that man is. Quite a lot of Gasheads fully in support of him by the looks of it as well.

I dunno how you can be CEO of a club like Crystal Palace for 26 years if you’re not any good….

This isn’t the first time someone extremely well qualified, if anything a bit of a coup for the club, has come in and hasn’t been able to make change work

He might just want to get back to London.

He might have done something wrong.

    He might be ill.

He might have been offered another job somewhere.

The club might be near a sale.

Mark Ashton and LJ might be coming back.

No idea - we'll just have to wait and see.

One thing for sure: Alexander would have known what to expect from Lansdown - he was at Palace for some of the same time as Coppell and would likely have had a word before signing up with us.

I agree with you, in that I look forward to outside investment or the day when Steve sells to someone a little more football savvy, but I think its unfair to suggest he doesn't want city in the prem or has zero ambition. We all know he threw money at the club previously and I feel its a case of sticking to FFP and a lot of that 'once bitten...' mindset.

Sadly we are in a better position now, yet he is showing little willingness to flex (hence his comittment to stick to a transfer budget mapped out in march, which was based on us keeping Alex).

To say he has no ambition is to over simplify things, but his stubborness and complete lack of desire to engage with the fanbase (through Jon, the CEO or himself) will lead fans to assume he has none.

I'm sure he's a very decent guy, wants the best for the club and still has ambition - just that he's 71 now and trying to tidy up his affairs before he himself is promoted to the division above. Maybe Jon isn't willing to take it all on, or maybe he's not as business-savvy as his dad. Either way Steve needs to plan ahead. After all he's done for City and the city we could just trust him...

Not disputing the main point but I don't agree that we were the better side against Preston. Thought we were lucky to get the draw tbh.

True, but then we are the only side to get anything out of Preston. After 5 games they have 4 wins and one draw.
