XG is a recently devised football metric.
It is used to analyse games, performance etc alongside other metrics such as
JG, IG, SG, TG, WG, CG, VG and YG
They couldn't use BG because an Australian trio's lawyers threatened to sue them.
The same with NG which belongs to Cardiff and MG which belongs to a car manufacturer.
Unfortunately, GG was a non-starter.
Couldn't we just go back to AG as a performance metric?
(Actual Goals for those not in the statisterati).

There is no FFP issue. Not under its current set of rules. Nor under any likely new rules either.
This is a club decision.
Thanks, that's very depressing. Seems that the Lansdown legacy will only be measured in commercial revenue and assets.

We aren't overburdened anywhere. I think we need all of this squad and 1 or two more. But this self-imposed salary cap could hurt us!
Yup, 'self-imposed' seemingly the key words. Nige always talks about there being no room in the budget, not FFP.
Maybe the budget could be increased without creating a FFP issue but don't really know.
Would be interested in the views the FFP experts as to whether our budgets are now driven by FFP concerns or just a general tightening by Steve and Co for 'sustainability purposes'.

My wife said to me this morning ,do you want to stay in and watch the women’s World Cup final or come shopping with me.
Message sent from Asda
There is no escape from the monstrous regiment of women.
It's been going on for a while:

Do you think some of the “life” went out of it for him when he realised Jon wasn’t interested in taking it on? And now he’s kinda stuck?
Exactly this.
Steve has created an unsellable monster IMO. You can imagine someone wanting a football club to develop but when you add in rugby and basketball you can see the problem.

Ha. It triggers me a bit too . But it's definitely not as triggering as 'draw' when the poster means 'drawer'. Get me though, because for my first 45 years (at least), I thought 'remuneration' was 'renumeration'. In other words, I'm not best placed to point out spelling mistakes, or grammatical errors, as I barely get by myself
I think remuneration is something to do with large formations of starlings.

Grauniad reporting that a £25m package has been agreed. No idea what that means, but if it includes future sell ons, or event-based payments (appearances, avoiding relegation etc) then I can well understand Nige been more than a bit annoyed. Who knows?

she once announced the HT scores, and after telling us the gas were winning said "let's hope it stays that way"
She also once announced the half time score of the match we were actually watching.

Well, that is one of the most expensive parts of the ground prob 28 quid on the south stand
That's bad as well. Bear in mind we're talking about POTD for a second division game. Off the scale compared to the rest of Europe.

Same. It wouldn’t t even be a consideration from the club these days.
Yup, same. My son used to be a ST holder but now lives away. Last time I took him to the Gate it was £38 for a seat in one of the centre blocks of the Dolman. Never again.

It did amuse me how Duncan Ferguson was continually referred to as "Dunc" in the press release
Amen to that. It used to annoy me when we used to refer Stephen Cotterill as Steve. What are they thinking?

Pleased for Man City fans, before the money come in they’d always have been considered a great fan base. Nothing more boring than the mocking of their support for lacking numbers, which isn’t true anyway.
Always seemed a good bunch whenever I’ve come across them on holiday etc. They’d almost always talk more about their days when they were shite than they will modern times. Will be a great night for them tonight.
Yup, that's my experience of them as well - pleased for them.
Would also say that Man City and Pep always respect their opposition and the competition they're in. We've played then three times and each time they've put out a strong side and been completely professional.

Winning the Mickey Mouse cup doesn’t qualify as double in my opinion
Does winning the Third Division (or whatever it's called) count as 'winning the league' or is that just the top league?

Completely ridiculous. The sooner VAR is gone the better.
Makes you wonder how we went so long without a penalty if that's the standard. (I use the word 'standard' loosely).

You're not wrong. Under no pressure to do that - a complete rush of blood to the head. Pity.
Difficult to believe Hants won the competition last year. Some very poor shots played but can't take anything away from a great performance from Somerset.

The recent interview by SL with the naming of Mark Robins, followed by the congratulatory text to Ashton, shows to me that SL didn’t really think Ashton did any wrong.
100% true. If SL thought Ashton had done anything wrong then he himself would have to admit fault in letting it happen. Add in the mealy mouthed references to NP in the same interview and there you have it. Can't see much cause for optimism as I think we're heading for yet another lap of the old, familiar circle.

In common with the last year, more quality will go out than likely to come in, so there will be a great premium on picking players with the right (ie the managers) mentality, and recruiting numbers, hopefully of solid Championship players with good injury records. SL talking a good game and aiming for playoffs, but I’d be happy with top half and above Ipswich.
I'm sure that you're right with all that. Problem will come when SL decides that Nige hasn't delivered the play-offs and decides to replace him - and off we go again on the same old cycle.

…not unless he led the charge to our promotion. Hardly a disaster
Amen to that but it's the hope that kills you.
I'd be delighted if he was here next year, but not if he doesn't sign a new contract. We need more than a few players in and from what I can see much of it will be funded by Alex Scott's sale.

Well, his post award interview has given some hint of wanting to stay. Could just be good media training & not the right setting to say otherwise!
It might be that he intends to wind his contract down, which would be a disaster for the club.

Was sat in the middle of the Lansdown yesterday and was watching Nige's reactions, particularly about Mehmeti. Not happy would be the understatement of the year. Was very surprised when Mehmeti came out for the second half. Sam Bell is twice the player on the left.
