Would agree with this though the caveat might be that if we don't go up, a sale needed by 31st May 2023 to count in this year's figures. Otherwise if after, it'd count towards 2023-24.

Could always extend accounting period to 30th June to get best possible price if it was needed.

Say we do miss out on promotion this season and have to sell a starlet for say £20m that saves our reporting period, with our wage bill reduced and presumably standing better without sales, during which pre-season do we lose our mega-losses and benefit from that £20m sale in the new reporting period?

Lee Johnson was fine until that infamous Wolves defeat and then it was a gradual decline from there imo.

Everyone remembers that defeat against Wolves in 17/18 precipitating the end of our season as you can see from the results that followed...

But, they also did for us the next season too when beating us in the FA Cup (we had won 9 games in a row leading into this game)...

We finished 4 points outside the play-offs. I bet LJ really dislikes Wolves.

Oh I don't disagree, we definitely need to be aiming higher than 17th.

However the away record vs clubs with parachutes was awful. Literally any kind of improved points return from that would represent an improvement. Think we may get a draw from one of those 2.

Burnley have drawn a few at home..vs Luton, Hull and Blackpool so far.

    Here's one.

Post Preston at home, we play two Parachute clubs. Away from home.

We're absolutely in a better place now but our record last season, it was not pretty in these games. 3 home draws and 2 home losses isn't too bad, the Fulham game especially was a spirited one and Palmer's goal was fortunate but Fulham were fortunate to avoid a 2nd yellow in 1st half at 0-0. A Fulham reduced to 10 before HT and we're looking good

    Away from home?

ANY kind of return here will be an improvement, especially in the away games.

Last season we finished 17th, gotta do a lot better than improve if we are to meet the players’ objectives this season. As long as we beat Preston, I’d then be happy with 1 draw/1 defeat from the two aways though.

And, after Burnley, we have the international break so they can have a few extra days off then to make up for it. In previous years I think they`ve had most of the first week off and then back in training for the second.

Players often don't welcome extended trips away but with spirit in the camp buoyed by our current form it could actually magnify it.

    zooming in on Naismith:

first 4 rows are all about how many he attempts, versus all other CBs in the Champ.

    - he doesn’t have many defensive duels (when opponent has ball he is the ores in challenging) compared to the division

    - he just below middle for aerial duels

    - he goes in for lots of loose ball duels

    - he makes lots of offensive duels (where he is on the ball and gets into a challenge) compared to the division, but then again he’s on the ball a lot more than most!

next 4 rows are how successful he is:

    - duels wins just less than the average champ CB (so doesn’t go into many duels nor win his fair share

    - aerials less again (so attempts an average amount but doesn’t win that much)

    - in the top 15% of winning loose balls and offensive duels, couple with attempts a lot, is really good.

Heres a better way of seeing them against all CBs.

in the bottom right corner you can see that Naismith commits a fraction more fouls (x axis) than Vyner, but gets less cards!

    Hope it makes sense.

Will the real Rob Atkinson please stand up ?

I think the schedule for those two away games is asking too much to expect any positive results.

Getting up to Norwich midweek and then to Burnley means more travel time than time on the training ground and I wouldn't base anything on those two games.

However, I do expect a positive result against PNE, they are due to let a few in imo.

The fact we have to play at Norwich on the Wednesday and at Burnley on Saturday disgusts me. The Norwich game should be on Tuesday if there's any natural justice. I saw Russell Martin complained yesterday that they had to play at Boro on Saturday and at Stoke on Wednesday ('1,000 miles on a coach') but at least they had a bit of space between away matches. The only mitigating factor for us would be if we are able to fly back from Norwich.

Would have been tough to do with Tuesday/Saturday but could we potentially fly to Norwich around mid-day on Wednesday, check in to our hotel, stay there after the Norwich game then travel to Burnley on Thursday and train at a local club on Friday?

  8. Much has been said about the "Management Team" (Nigel-Steve Walsh-Craig Shakespeare) at Leicester with many dreaming of Nigel re-uniting them here possibly but the stars have not aligned. Could we now have created a new Management Team that in future may hold a candle to that team at Leicester? We will know soon enough.

Won't make any difference, I'm definitely getting vibes of our promotion season in 2015 when finally, everything clicked don't know about you and I'm really not one to get carried away (my nickname is doom and gloom) but finally the pieces of the puzzle have come together, and the picture looks pretty damn good.

I've been saying that for weeks. Even play-style similarities with wing-backs almost playing like wingers and centre-backs playing like wing-backs :D

Was the Preston manager sent off today?

Does that mean he has to be in the stand for our game?  Might not matter as some managers prefer to be in stands anyway...but is he allowed to communicate with his associates?

Not sure what it means when managers are sent off.

I believe he can be in the dressing room before the game but from kick off is not allowed to communicate with the team until FT. Remember that story of Jose Mourinho being smuggled into the dressing room in a laundry basket ?

1 In 90 goes as far back as 1st November 2020.

We got 1 at Millwall in the FA Cup, can't remember about Portsmouth at home and definitely not Sheffield United away.

Forest Green away, Fulham at home and then the two League Cup games...2 in 97 perhaps in competitive games.

When was the last league penalty again?

I think we've conceded 15 in that time, perhaps 16 but while since I've totalled that bit up in depth.

Remember this is League only, Cup figures may vary it a bit...we got one at Millwall in 2021 for a start.

During the 1 in 90 spell, the only cup games were a 1-0 loss against Fulham and this year’s League Cup games.
