Which would get us somewhere between about 13th and 19th, roughly around where most people would accept.

The problem is that whilst many say they are happy with that sort of finish in the current circumstances at the start of the season, the means of getting that outcome is a bunch of turgid performances. Finishing 13th to 19th at the end, a 4 match win run would be accompanied by a 12 match non-winning run

  2. For me we are in a similar situation with Ashton leaving to when Pulis went to Pompey. The squad is pretty shit with a lot of average players in it on high wages and we are trying to tread water for a couple of seasons whilst waiting to turn that squad around. On the plus side we do get to blood some of our youth so when we are the other side of it, hopefully the likes of Scott and Benayous will be all the better for that experience.

You don't think it was a sensational lap from Max?

Even on brand new softs vs 30 lap old hards, Lewis made a good attempt at retaking the spot. On the same tyres only Lewis wins that last lap. Totally contrived result from Liberty Media and I think I'm done with the "sport" too. If it's just gonna be a pantomime like WWE then it holds no interest for me.

The city would be much nicer with much fewer cars - more space, cleaner air, fewer accidents. Certain people need to drive (people with disabilities, tradesmen with van loads of tools, delivery drivers etc.), but many journeys can be made walking, cycling or with public transport.

Granted the public transport system at the moment is not fit for that purpose, but with improvements it could happen.

When the trade off for using public transport to travel to & from work is 5hours of my day vs 1.5 hours by car I am afraid car will always win out for me.

  5. With Britain committed to banning the sale of combustion engine vehicles in just over 8 years time have we yet heard what the plan is for the 30% of UK drivers who do not have access to off street parking at home?

Charging EV's needs to somehow become much quicker if we are expected to be able to all use a charging site as we do at present with petrol stations and I don't see that magnitude of improvement happening by 2030.

Daniel Storey's latest Tweet suggests he was conflating P&S and SCMP- all EFL FFP but both have differences.

Certain areas of Academy expenditure certainly sit outside FFP though. If staff wages are included then are we missing a trick by not setting up weekly 5minute sessions with our first team squad and listing them all as player coachs?

How utterly embarrassing is that? Jeez.

Oh come on, if you supported such a small team wouldn't you want a memento of the day your side actually managed to get promoted to the Football League? I'm prepared to allow them some artistic license on the "invasion" part. Bless them.

Sky Sports football website saying Chris Lines serves the third of his three match suspension today , yet then have him in the line up. Points deducted for an illegible player ?  (If they have enough points to be deducted any that is)

Sky Sports are wrong. The new disciplinary rules about cross competition suspensions only apply to accumulated yellow cards. Red cards still see a player suspended for any competitive fixture. Therefore their thrashing by the QPR reserves counts as one of the 3 games.

Yep they did, and flashed them up on their scoreboard.....but bizarrely I remember when we were at home to Wigan, I think it was, in the early 2000s and Rovers won 0-5 away at Oxford on the same day and we flashed up their score updates on the scoreboard above the East End - why?????!!!!!

The regular operator was sick and when we told them any idiot could perform the role, the agency sent us a gashead?

We are averaging a point a game. Over 46 games, that's relegation. Johnson out!! ?

Not in 4 of the last 5 seasons it wasnt ?

Yeah I think he'll do well. A lot of the comments I saw from Derby fans were highly complimentary about his effort and attitude.

Not sure he'll hit the sort of numbers that Bobby got last year, despite the good start, but he'll chip in with his fair share.

Hope he does tho, backed him each way at 200/1 to be top scorer ?

Totally with you Chief, right up until the bit about their ‘badge’ .... lots of City fans want 1894 to be recognised as our year of formation and not 1897 - and another big example is Birmingham City - formed in 1875 as per their badge - but they weren’t called Birmingham City until 1943....

You let them make that argument that this is how far back they can trace the origins of their club.

“Oh, really? How does that tally with your stance that we have only been in existence since 1982 then?”

  12. Whilst I simply have to take this mod at his word that he doesn't ban people from Gaschat simply for being City, I believe someone on there does/did as I tried to join a few years back and as an admin on here I appreciate that I was a guest on their forum so did not write any controversial posts but got banned with no reason given. I didn't hide that I was City.

I'm not exactly bothered though as we've been above them so long they have almost become an irrelevance. I say "almost" because they still provide comedic value.
