Yes, surely there's plenty of insults you can throw without mentioning colour, use your imagination

Exactly - he is a shit, lazy, flash in the pan (occassionally) show pony.

Being Black, White or any other race, has no bearing on that & is a stupidly wrong thing to bring into the equation.

Sykes is a starter for me but where does Naismith now fit in a first X1?

If you are labelling Atkinson as a starter when fit then what is your best picks line up and in what formation [accepting that the matchday squad is 20 which offers plenty of scope for change]?

Skies starts all day long, but Naismith & Atkinson, currently, for more squad depth, rotation & changing things from the bench.

  3. If we match last seasons totals without Alex Scott at our disposal, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, in an arguably tougher division than last seasons was.

It took NP 2.5 years to get to where we were - it may be harsh to expect overnight improvement on his record without a summer window or pre-season to work on things.

I think with how we are trying to play now, Skyes & Naismith are being sorely missed.

I like the addition of Twine & hope that Sykes' running will compliment him - Likewise, having Atkinson available for Twines set pieces would be a huge boost aswell.

I expect a mixed bag for the remainder of this season & to kick on a bit next season.

NP cleared the decks & paved the way - but didn't feel like we were going anywhere beyond that with him & many forget that he was probably leaving in the summer anyway.

LM is showing foundations of a more controlled & deliberate way of playing, but fully expect that to take time & probably some different personally to make it click.

  4. I love the pin stripe kits! Can't have it every season though.

I'd like something really simple. Plain red with white collar & thin trim (maybe)

I've always hoped we might have a Granddad style collar (like Newcastle kit of the Ginola era)

  5. Good debut.

Great header & desire to win it.

Excellent new dimension to our attacking play with good quality deliveries into the box. A real shame Rob Atkinson isn't fit to capitalise.!

Good addition, who I'd hope will become more & more effective as he & teammates get to know each other more.

  6. Sorry, have I missed the paragraph of the announcement that says "Twine will only be with us for 6 months. We have no chance of signing him beyond that & don't want to"..?

I thought it was fairly unusual when TGH's loan was confirmed with an option to buy, rather than it being "the norm"

I wouldn't expect all loans to come with that agreement & wouldn't expect that to mean there was no chance of it becoming more permanent, if it works out well for all involved.

It’s some kind of collective psychological disorder.

We are a dysfunctional family club.

But Alf has experience of building a Best Western hotel so he’ll soon sort us out.

Or a club made up of people from dysfunctional families....

That’s because they’re desperate to be in the same league as us . Although only from fans 30 or above that can actually remember those days

They'd probably prefer us to get relegated, rather than get promoted themselves though..!

I think they genuinely hate us more than they actually like their own club..!

I think you'll find that their full name is Promotion Chasing Bristol Rovers.

    ©Bristol Post.

Unable to be referred to or described as Bristol Rovers Play off push.

Perhaps that should currently be upgraded to include their assault on a historic Double.

Promotion & the FA Cup in 1 season would be marvellous for them..!

******* hell, 11th in the league but they’re the best side in the league.

You just have to look at the way our views compare to theirs.

We are 4 points off the play off places & the general feeling on here (although very jekyll & Hyde, based on the last result) is that our chairman is a clown for believing we could be a top 6 contender & the general outlook from threads is frustrated & negative.

Rovers are 12 points off the top 6, closer to the drop zone than the play offs - yet they always seem to refer to their play-off push & how they are better than everyone that beats them..!

I keep hearing this but if the gap is so big, why do we recruit players (and coaches) from the lower leagues. Is this the reason we are struggling in the  Championship?

Are we struggling in the Championship..?

We are just struggling to compete with the top of the Championship, against teams with bigger budgets, generally.

ok fair enough, I thought as its a 27k capacity and it was 26k with segregation v Man C it would be the same

Ah yes, both almost right... was 25,700 against Man City, so I'd think it would be pretty much the same - although, not it's being televised live, it might be a bit less than that, to make way for additional TV camera locations.

I had an email at 6.41 pm yesterday evening that said tickets would be going on sale at 7pm , around an hour before the draw, and season ticket holders would have till Wednesday to claim their spot . I've been out of action for over a month with a broken leg and had already decided that I would try and get to this one as a test to see just what I can and cant do, so I didn't rush to get mine(which is terrace) as I wanted to see if I could get a seat. Once the draw was made social media was going mental and it was apparent that there was a free for all on tickets and by the time I thought Id better  get mine and see if I could swap it for a seat later, there were none available.

I know of a non season ticket holder who was able to buy 12, who tbf , thinks the club should cancel all tickets sold and start again. The club are blaming Ticketmaster- although who knows- and have emailed everyone who contacted them with a 'we are looking into it' email.

Update- A club statement has been issued acknowledging  a 'small' number of STHs have been affected and it will be sorted. I'd argue that it isnt a small number- but there is hope !

That does sound like a complete balls up & should never happen.

Hope they rectify suitably for you.

Although, of course it's going to be a small number - even if every season ticket holder missed out..! 😉😂

Apparently you had problems with West Ham tickets? Clearly not on this scale. Since Rovers have switched to Ticketmaster, there have been numerous cock ups, people not receiving tickets in time for a game is commonplace, it barely even gets anyone angry anymore. As it stands, it looks like I , a long term season ticket holder, will miss out on the Norwich game. I get this is a piss take thread and I understand that a few of you are having a chuckle over it, but it does seem that - although not yet confirmed- that it is yet another Ticketmaster cock up and I think all football fans should be wary about this. There are some good people at Rovers in the ticket office as I'm sure there are at City and many other clubs around the country, people  who actually care about the fans, usually because they are fans themselves.

Football fans need to stick together on some issues and stand up to glorified touts like Ticketmaster.

I think we've only ever used Tickmaster for Wembley finals, which made sense with the volume of tickets to be sold (not as many as when you lot get there, obviously!)

Surely Rovers don't use ticket master for home match tickets.?! The costs incurred & general lack of control would make that a ridiculous decision.

Surely a sold out Rovers game could be catered by the ball boys popping around door to door with a card machine, sell then all and still make it back into school by the end of a couple of free periods..! 😉

I missed your reason for you, as a STH missing out on a Norwich home ticket - how can that be possible, ever - assuming it wasn't down to you missing your priority window.?

Whilst of course you can only win the competitions you qualify for...I'm not sure that particular European trophy buys you much kudos as a manager.

Depends on the club & the expectations.

It was massive for a club like West Ham.

Agreed, Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd - those that are usually chasing the Champions league, it would feel a bit second fiddle - but for a club who aren't amongst the elite regular trophy winners, it was huge.

1,300 away fans. Absolutely massive. Truly.

That is bang out of order from Norwich!

Why have they only given Rovers a 1,300 allocation, when competition rules state that they should be given over 4,000 (15%)
