My memory was that during lockdown at Wycombe away near the end of the season (when they got relegated) their goalie came up and scored from a corner for a 2-1 win for them.

Clearly, I need to change my medication.

I think you are right mate.

I was so annoyed that I told Beyonce & Rachel Riley that I'd had enough & to get dressed & leave.

    Hi fellow OTIBers....

Taking my son to his first game at the Gate tomorrow and wondered what time the players coach usually arrives. He'd love to get his shirt signed by a player or two if possible or just to see them.

Around 1/1.30 usually for a 3pm kick off.

Difference between; Sunderland currently on 36pts and top six and Brum 6 from bottom on 27pts, is a gap of only 9pts (3wins) so there are a lot of clubs that might be top six.

Anyone who can string a run of wins together can rapidly rise, also those who string a run of losses can dramaticaly fall.

Southampton and Liec look favs for returns to the top div any of rest could still join them.

I`d go for Leeds or Ipswich to join them atm unless JL gives Manning some back up with a cash injection then we could be playing either of them at Wembers

Yeah, the league is always tight.

Any run of form can push you up, or down dramatically.

It's nice to be up around the top 6 for a change though.!

Part of me wants them to go up. Bring back Bristol derbies. Badly missed.

If they get an away draw I tend to swear out loud, wherever I am.

How can anyone possibly even consider them getting promoted as anything other than putrid..?

It brings a smile to my face when their "play off push" ends - usually before Easter..!

There some validity to your first paragraph . However your second is childish , severely lacking in respect at what Pearson did to rescue the club from a massive slide that under other managers wouldn’t have recovered from . My point is

manning couldn’t do what he’s doing if NP hadn’t stabilised it first .

This is true & I think everyone acknowledges this - but then, with exactly the same set of players, NP (I don't think) ever won 3 games on the trot here & there is a notable increase in the amount of shots we are taking at goal & possibly the about of times we are getting balls into the opponents box.

That has already lead to an increase in penalty awards & deflected goals, in our favour.

Of course there will be drab & frustrating defeats at times - but it already feels like LM is getting more from many of the players & the the squad as a collective & allowing them to play with more freedom & with more attacking intent.

LM has not yet had the opportunity to change a single thing personal wise, yet is producing a different type of play from them and, so far, the players seem to be embracing that.

Don’t think it’s quite as simple as saying he has spent around 15% of his wealth as it increases and decreases as HL share prices move, and the estimate of his wealth is just that, an estimate as he has other financial interests that are not necessarily public knowledge.

Factually a quick google tells us he sold shares to the value of £560 million between April 2020 and February 2021, whilst in August 2020 HL alone paid him a dividend of £18.6 million, if he worked for that kind of income for forty hours a week he would be on nearly £9,000 per hour.

HL shares have been as high as 1023.50 and as low as 676.40, currently 716.20.

Without sounding too churlish there will be many City fans who probably invest a larger proportion of their disposable income than SL does each season following the club.

I don't give a shit what the percentage works out to be - I was just pointing out that whatever way it's estimated- the poster who tried to pass it off as 1% was totally & utterly wrong.

Where's the £20bn number coming from?

That's just been completely made up by the poster who is try to belittle SL's input, by claiming he has only spent 1% of his fortune on our club - which is absolute nonsense because the posters maths is abysmal..!

He's spent around 15% of his wealth on us - & whereas the poster is trying to tell is that it's "only" 1%.

So, you’re both happy that a £36.5m revenue business costs £65.3m to run, yet gets nowhere near being able to recoup some of that by getting to the Premier League?

Well, bugger me if you think that’s me being ENTITLED!!!

I’m not even close to being an “entitled fan”.  It’s been a concern of mine since 2016-17, and it bit us on the effing arse big-time in recent years.

I’m delighted we ONLY lost £22m last season including a £9m transfer, stopping that being £30m. (That’s sarcasm btw!)

What planet am I on?  Give myself a slap in the face for being so entitled.

Pardon me for thinking that there might be a different way / a better way of doing this without feeling that we should be indebted to Steve Lansdown.

(Rant not aimed at you both, just the general lack of understanding why some of us feel as passionately as we do about the ownership / situation).

I think you miss the point that without the Lansdowns being prepared to cover those losses we'd be know where near where we are now - regardless of the success or failure that that is..

Imagine if they'd sold to Al Quadi 10/15/20 years ago...

Which previous owners spent anywhere near what the Lansdown’s have? Whether you think they have done good, bad or indifferent I think they could have done better given the spend. At least one season in the Prem SHOULD have been achieved.

    Isn't that the point.?

We have genuine fans, ploughing tens/hundreds of millions into our club.

Where do you think we'd be without them, seriously..?!.

It's not as if (surprisingly) that we've heard reports of numerous takeover bids being turned down.

I'd go so far as to say that, bearing in mind our overheads to match ambitions) we'd be in a worse place than Rovers are now.

We had a decent sized, but we'll outdated ground. Little to no commercial or non match day revenue.

Little to no match day revenue around the ground - yet always the expectation to succeed.

We lose £20million plus per year now, yet it's not been a concern for us (as supporters) because the Lansdowns pay it all off.

I think some people's entitled expectations lead them to believe we deserve better - nobody deserves better.

Yes, we could have done better - but anyone who holds no gratitude for what that family have done for us amazes me.

Without them we'd be lucky to still be in existence, let alone a struggling 3rd/4th tier club with a shithold of a decent sized ground & still training at the a local field somewhere.

Agreed, we've not got there, but we've never been closer to being ready for the Prem now & that is entirely thanks to them (even though some think it's because of them.!)

We all know they make mistakes & we could/should have achieved more - but imagine, just for moment, if they hadn't ever been here - we'd probably be landing our token support to FGR..!

I doubt there is any particular anti LM agenda. Why would there be.

More like a combination of dismay at the treatment of NP and frustration, dismay etc at the board for that decision among various others taken since the summer in particular.

He's literally just said that the majority think there is..!

No. He signed a contract with a buyout clause, so he's obviously entitled to move. But if your manager ups sticks in the middle of season, it's going to destabilise your club, at least in the short term. So a 'sorry I've upset things a bit' acknowledgement wouldn't go amiss.

I can understand those with a love in for NP being upset at his departure - bit any of those carrying that into any sort of anti LM agenda are just pathetic, imho.

Foreign owner?  Heaven forbid!  Foreign owned clubs like Forest, Burnley, Leicester, Fulham, Wolves, Cardiff,Bournemouth, Leeds, etc etc who have all had promotion to the Premier League during Lansdown's ownership. None of us want that.

Blackpool, Sheffield Wednesday, Rovers, Man Utd to name a few. You list Cardif as a good example.?!

It depends which foreign owners you get.

So the wife has broken my Bristol City mug. I was obviously devastated and pointed out it was my lucky mug. To which she replied you’ve had it five years and not sure it’s been that lucky. (Ouch!)  Really can’t argue that.  I first started watching city in the Joe Jordan era and a had lucky scarf where I never saw us lose in 20 games.  In an effort to have some lighter non Pearson vs Manning posts.  Let’s hear about some of your lucky items or pre match rituals?

We have NEVER lost a game (in 34 years) when I've bought a burger or Hot dog at the ground & replied to the conundrum of "do you want onions?" With the reply "just a few" - apart from the games we have lost when that scenario has taken place....

I replied “**** off you daft lying *** and take Sid with you”………..do you reckon he will receive it?

So, if Manning works out well, takes us forward, gets us promoted/has us genuinely competing for the top 6 places, playing more attacking football.....

    What then..?

You'd like the Lansdowns to pack up & move off, selling up to some dubious foreign owner...?

I'm not saying it will happen - but it could.

I could understand this type of feeling if it were this time next season & we were struggling around the relegation places (gone notably backwards)

    Can’t agree more.

Dislike Warnock intensely but totally respect his excellent track record (a while ago now though since he was in contention for promotion), the logic behind that suggestion is strong.

    Holloway? Seriously?

Absolute clown who Blackpool aside has done little in management, hates us, said vile things about us in the past (unless he’s got a book to sell), you might as well say get Pulis back.

    Incredible opinion.

    Genuinely baffling..!

Warnock has had his fair share of clashes, banter & abuse with us over the years - bit there is no actual real reason he couldn't have come here.

Holloway - It's just an absolute, unquestionable "NO" in every possible way!

As you say, he been generally shite at every club, bar Blackpool - but even if he'd emulated Pep throughout his career - I'd rather dig my own eyes with a rusty spoon & fill the holes with shit from a tramps dog, than even entertain the idea of that vile, embarrassing piece of site ever being at our club..!

I can only think that the person who posted that is either under 30 & knows nothing of his history, or was dropped on his head from a great height.

Agree, one of only a few managers I would have loved to seen manage us, same as Holloway. Don't care about their history's, who they support and the like, but in their prime they installed passion in players and fans and made people over achieve, and that's how winnings done.

Whilst I wholeheartedly disagree with those who'd ever have wanted Warnock here, I can see where they are coming from.

To suggest Ian Holloway is one of the most ludicrous things I've ever read.

I hope you recover soon from whatevever nasty life experiences you have had to endure, that have made you even consider that as anything other than vomit inducing..!
