It was frustrating - the one thing I didn’t agree with him on. But if you watch his post match press conference he gives his reasons why Foden didn’t come on in quite a bit of detail and they are rational and thought through - even if you don’t agree.

The amount of coverage across all the media they got on Sunday and Monday was embarrassing. And when that simian scored it was like they’d won the World Cup not got a draw in a first round match. Today was just as bad. Logan saying it was a ‘sucker punch’ (never mind Iran were by far the better team). Claiming Irans ‘dark arts’ were a factor (Hennessy’s Schumacher anyone?) Having a Guatemalan ref made life ‘difficult’. Just total utter bullshite. Gabbidon was good though I thought on comms. Didn’t get too caught up - unlike Hartson the other night who was a sheer embarrassment.

Not to sound glib but it’s his job. Which he’s fantastic at. Contrast him with someone like Sam Splatterface who couldn’t even get the German players clubs right the other day or the commentator this morning who kept getting players wrong and you see the value of his homework!

It’s got us mainly a damned sight more enjoyable football, against superior opposition in an inordinately superior league against far bigger teams (with crowds you can only dream of) than the shower of shite you’ve been watching that’s for sure. Some of them were told in no uncertain terms after the game last night that it wasn’t good enough and because there was no bugger there they could certainly hear the ‘feedback’! Hopefully there is a positive reaction come Saturday as last night was completely unacceptable.
