Oh not slagging him at all, he’s great. Just on the questions on specifics of playing style and how we’re going to improve it. I thought it was unnecessary. Rest of it was totally fair game.

It’s not his job and I thought GT was slightly naughty in pushing those areas of questioning tbh.

It’s an odd interview I agree. Especially if it was actually requested by City. But we all moaned when Ashton never appeared other than when everything was rosy so at least he has fronted up. But not really sure what he could say other than what he did. GT focused a lot on on the pitch matters which RG would and did struggle to answer. As others have said people moaned when Ashton appeared too involved and are now moaning that RG isn’t. Guess the premise of the interview overall was that he just felt he had to update on NP’s position and got caught in the headlights somewhat on some other issues. But at least he took it on.

Does he? What do you want him to say just out of interest? Said we should be nearer the play offs but difficult to compete with parachute payments. I’d argue we don’t have a play off challenging squad but he can’t say that can he? We need to improve - we all agree.

Coming from Norwich every other week is one hell of an effort, fair play to you. Must admit I find it a struggle to come over from Bishopston some weeks, given the state of the football for the last few seasons!

They’ve got that ‘bounce’ feeling and results that we should’ve had our first year back in the Championship under Cotts. Oh what might have been. Fair play to them though as others have said they deserve their current run as much as anyone.

Havibg said that, if NP were to leave (which I 100% do not want atm) I can’t think of anyone better to give it a go.

We were discussing this very point today. It seems no matter who the manager is that talented players succumb to it. Worrying trend and has been for a fair while.

I think we got rid of those that we could as opposed to all of them. Squad is an absolute mess imo and I don’t see who could change it to be honest. I thought that the fundamentals would be massively improved by NP by now but it seems the squad that is left is really so bad that even that’s a stretch at the moment. Any thoughts on who / what will make it better other than backroom staff changes?

If he needs help with coaching then that’s a pretty damning indictment imho of both his application for the role and the Boards acceptance of it. Maybe Shakespeare will be available soon but I’d still not expect his presence (or another’s) presence to be imperative to our being more successful than we are currently. If it were then it should’ve been identified when NP was hired. Agree re fitness. Not sure re psychology, I feel that that’s a major part of a manager’s role - especially one who is deemed a ‘manager’ and not an on the grass coach. Still feel we just need to get through the season by hook or crook and that we can’t do any better than NP. May be very wrong!

More politely, as you are far more reasoned than most RR, what what would you do? Who would you realistically bring in or what would you realistically change? Our squad is completely and utterly screwed, especially with our injuries, and the best we could have ever hoped (imho) for is mid table which is still on. Sorry, I know you are not saying NP out but as a respected poster, what would you do?

Yep most definitely. Hull had the highs of going up and although they went down to L1 came back up and are now our level now. Other than Cardiff’s red shirt saga I’d take their recent history over ours as well. Can’t see why anyone wouldn’t objectively. No lower than us and plenty higher over recent years. Cup finals etc.

Said it before numerous times. Give me their journey over ours any time of day or night! Imagine the memories they’ve had over the time SL has been in charge. Maybe Cov’s good times were slightly before but still. Would take any of their recent (25 year) history over ours.

He’s not attainable (why would he leave them atm) and he’s completely unproven. He was struggling not too long ago as well. Worth a punt in different more stable times maybe, but not at the moment. All IMHO of course.

Not sure why you laughed at my post. Like I said it’s facts. Absolutely no complacency whatsoever here however I can assure you and tbh I’m not seeing that anywhere else on the board in any great amounts. I’ve been consistent in saying that we are in for a hell of a struggle this season. It’s not an acceptance of failure - we are in a complete state at the moment as has been well documented across many posts. But I do think we will do stay up just about.

None of the various form guides show that (it’s actually Cardiff in all but two of the various ones available). But don’t let the facts get in the way ??
