Some good comparisons Harry. I’d say (at the moment) that Kalas is streets ahead of Lewin, likewise James above Pearson and King over Kilkenny the latter two for their consciousness and apparent value to the dressing room if nothing else. However you could also argue that Heaton was way above Bents, Skuse was better than Bakinson currently is performing and Davies was decent imho compared to Martins current form anyhow. So it’s close but I’d still say we’ve currently got a better team than back then and have enough to stay up. Just.

Can’t believe we are having to look at results already ? but it was always going to be a bumpy ride this season. Think we have enough because of others deficiencies but fear it could be closer than is comfortable. Just need to get through it by hook or by crook.

Maybe clutching a bit but the summer was hectic in terms of the squad churn, contract talks, Ashton saga, recruitment team etc. This is a clear and settled run to work with a squad that needs some serious drilling in terms of shape and defensive work. Like is said maybe clutching but all we need is to stay up this season with what we have and then rebuild yet again with players he wants in the summer. Keep saying it but it’s where we’re at.

No gold plating anything tonight. No excuses, thought we did ok first half but it was really really poor second half. They weren’t very good and to lose 3/0 to that standard is very disappointing. Not expecting much from Saturday either. Big big work needed over the international break. Just need to keep above the relegation line this year - that’s the reality of the situation.

You’re right. And Nuno’s previous success hasn’t been built upon players like Kane dropping deep either, more on pacy direct forwards such as Jiminez. I’d imagine Conte won’t allow Kane to sulk about the way Nuno has purely because of his style and reputation.

Agree - gets to the point where it’s slightly cringey. Fantastic that we have the facility and a massive improvement on what we had, but it’s nothing more than average when you see some of the others around. Just shows how difficult it is to keep up with the more moneyed clubs, got to run just to stand still.

Forgot about Everton but I guess every case has it’s own facets. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with it as I don’t know the story or any of the facts at all. Just questioning whether the club were in any position to suspend him based upon the innocent until proven guilty ruling (much the same as our friends in Horfield who are going down that route). Seems they wouldve been though judging by Everton’s actions.

It’s not going to be demolished before the proposed Bay arena is built though. Wouldn’t have thought Live Nation would allow it without massive recompense. It’s got acts booked through 2022.
