It is an improvement on last season.

The question is whether it’s an improvement on expectation, the hierarchy’s expectation and us fans’ expectations!  I’d say it’s closer to most fans expectations, but below the hierarchy’s.  It is normally the other way around.

The public airing of the  hierarchy’s expectations earlier in the season were blatant lies though Dave.

McInnes signing Matthew Briggs on loan to come in and take Joe Bryan’s place in the team after his first couple of games really, really annoyed me at the time, he was then utterly dreadful which made it even worse.

Have a look at the careers of those two players since.. yeah we should have continued picking our own young player rather than a crap one that belonged to Fulham.

McInnes was dreadful here. He’s slagged us off a few times since he left. Saying we were a basket case and it wasn’t his fault. The idiot put together the worst defence I’ve ever seen down there. Didn’t use bolaise and played Chris wood out wide 😂

not forget him leaving the hapless Fontaine in the side when the guy was shot to pieces

Surely the solution is to restrict the premiership, rather than allow such crazy spending you then have to have contingencies in the championship?

Parachute payments (or the relegation clauses in the OP) are treating the symptom, not the cause imo.

We need proper wage caps and restrictions in the premiership, which then allow new teams to be more competitive without having to spend tens/hundreds of millions to finish 1 place above relegation when they get there - or face oblivion if/when they get relegated.

This is of course the optimal common sense solution to remedy this nonsensical situation.

it won’t happen though as common sense was discarded long ago, the premiership was in fact created to satisfy greed and the top clubs care not about the wider game.

so we are where we are. A race to the bottom where clubs are constantly looking for new ways to evade sanction snd overspend and throw more and more obscene sums of cash at players and even more annoyingly , their agents.

the game went down the pan years ago. I still love city but football as a whole makes me want to puke.

I can’t wait for the day the top third of the prem joins the Saudi backed world league for tens of billions and ignorant  fans bleat on about sporting merit and integrity 😂which in reality went years ago.

They had a decent team in fairness. White was a real handful

That was a good sags side to be fair. As much as I hated them they had some good players and a system that suited them.

theyve never had anything approaching the quality of that side since though. Until this season which apparently was going to be amazing as their messiah of a manager had put together a top side that was due to romp home with the title.😂

    Agree…..

you never know though, in ten years time it might not exist in any way similar to today. Maybe all the celebrity teams will be playing in a global super league and we’ll have something resembling “our” game back.

I’d love it if it happened. I actually wanted the European super league for that reason. So sick of the way things are at present with the illusion of sporting integrity.

and apparently now the prem clubs are trying to rewrite the ffp rules so anyone can now spend £500m a season on wages and fees. What the actual ****

How did we get from that to measuring offsides by millimetres and the endless bleating about it?

There’s too much money in it for starters. Too much at stake financially.

hence you get clubs ‘considering their options ‘ when they feel they cop a bad decision. Threatening legal recourse basically. It will get worse as time goes on.

Football in 10 years time will be more about sports lawyers than players IMO.

I read somewhere that the average number of bums on seats is 20% lower than the number of tickets sold.  6,526 minus 20% = 5,220.

Surely they have more bums than that.

They’ve got loads more bums than that. It’s just that they don’t go and watch them!!

Brian  Clough said that if too much football was shown on TV, the public would lose their appetite for going to games. He, like many others was content for two games Sat night with ITV showing some on Sun afternoon.

What did cloughie know about football eh? Pffftt !!!

    I jest of course. Legend.

On RB after the match, the summariser (haven’t a clue whom he was) said “I just hope that Matt can get it right because we all know that Rovers are a sleeping giant …”. FFS. Sleeping giant my arse.

That’s why it is so funny . They actually think they have massive potential and that they are everyone’s second favourite side. Bat sh1t crazy!!

  11. This is a big worry. If they were staying it’s highly likely they’d already of signed new deals .

losing both means our recruitment needs to be spot on. Worrying as this league is brutal if you are lightweight in midfield.

  12. The whole set up is tinnions. He’s the one behind the wheel which is why NP left and why we appointed someone more inexperienced who tinnion and j landsdown perceived would be more malleable.

So yes in terms of transfer targets they might not be any different now

As I've said before on these pages,do any of his critics ever look at other keepers in this and the prem? Obviously not from the idiotic comments

Good post. I have been critical in the past but when you look at what else is out there maybe the grass isn’t always greener!!!

Much better today.  Now twine is back we will be better against teams in a low block.  The team set out how they were today with 2 floating 10’s, Pring going down the outside and Roberts joining in with confidence and quality from defence will help us break these teams down.  Judge Liam in these last 7 games when he has the players available that he’s wanted and brought in.  Twine was his ace in the pack.  Let Liam prove he has what it takes when he has the one player we all know the squad needed and has been unfortunately unavailable. Next season add a real championship quality all round physical striker I think he will do well.

I think that’s fair. Today was good let’s see how we go from here then against sides that sit in.

I was thinking the same, if we lose James, Williams and King in the summer,  that’s a heck of a lot of experience going out the door. Senior pros have a lot of influence, not just on the pitch.

I said this weeks ago. We will struggle next season without that championship experience in midfield

the idiots running the club probably haven’t even considered it.
