Not sure there's anything in that - the prize draw was announced with the price reveal.

These emails will have been scheduled in regardless of whether they've sold 1, 92 or 7000 by this point.

Fair enough. I didn’t see that originally as I stopped looking as soon as I saw tinnion and manning on the graphic

  2. I’ve just had an email from the club ;

Don't miss out! Renew your 2024/25 Bristol City Season Ticket today for a chance to win it absolutely FREE! All supporters that renew up to the end of today will be entered into this exclusive Prize Draw

Maybe sales aren’t progressing as they hoped. No surprise if so.

Yeah I don’t think it’ll be anywhere near 8 games, there’s a rot already in place getting worse, massive humble pie needing to be consumed.

If they come out & admit they got this structure wrong it would massively save face & really should be happening now.

This is it though isn’t it. In the last twenty years there have been loads of absolutely shocking appointments . But when has lansdown ever held his hands up to any of it. It’s his club not ours remember so why should he 😡

a bit of contrition over the next few months would go a hell of a long way with the fan base but I’m not holding my breath.

Even if manning does go I can’t see any change above him forthcoming and a similarly poor appointment as ‘head coach’ is likely I fear.

  4. No way me and my son will renew until the structural defects in the running of the club are sorted.

Tinnion and manning need to go at least. That’s a minimum. Some proper football people and some governance in the boardroom would be a bonus as well.

I firmly believe that the hierarchy will support their boy in the summer with new signings and he will be gone by October.
It’s what they do. Freaking clueless the lot of them.

All day long this is what will be done

Expect to lose the Leicester game, but lose that plus the 2 after they will surely have to pull the trigger

If the results for the teams below go against us then maybe but no chance otherwise . This is LJ mark two. They’ll double down with financial backing in the summer

But can you not make exactly the same argument the other way? Or you're saying while it's impossible from the outside to prove he is responsible/had a huge positive impact on anything good, we can definitively prove he is directly or largely responsible for the negative things.

Seems to me that it is that line of thinking which, to use your words, is convenient.

We can only really judge by what we see on the pitch, which is f-in heinous at present.

Firstly, I’m not in the camp of Tins being the bad-guy for everything.

My beef is predominantly that Manning isn’t the right man - both ability and football style - imho.  And Tins would’ve played a large part in selecting him, and imho has mis-profiled him against the type of football him and JL said they wanted.

So, it’s not an easy one to answer in your kinda one-dimensional question.  Nor is that a criticism of the question, but that it’s just more nuanced than that.

My evaluation of Tins as the recommender is ultimately judged on how Manning does…against where I think the squad should be.

This season, I expected him to carry on the progress being made, so was looking for a finish circa 10th, staying in the play off hunt deep into the season.  Failing that, I expected any regression to be the result of implementing his football style, ie, I’d cut him some slack.

So far, he’s underperformed on playoff hunt and football style is a mess imho.  For me, I don’t see him changing nor us progressing with how he’s doing things, hence why I’m Manning out.  That is my prerogative, you happen to think people are judging too early.  I think the longer you leave it, the worse it will get.

    But…

I accept things can change, three simple scenarios, e.g.

    • he does carry on what he’s doing in his way, and we make progress, proving that “time was indeed the healer”, and I’ll hold my hands up
    • we throw money at him in the summer to cover his inadequacies - to me that shouldn’t mean credit for anyone, if anything it proves they got it wrong - don’t forget there was no budget in August when Alex was sold, and the owner told us fans via PA on SOTC that he was no longer willing to stump up the sums he had been each year
    • he does improve us, but by doing it different / playing differently - then I could turn round and say “told you so”, but I’ll at least give some credit to Manning for at least showing adaptability.  I’m not sure Tins gets any credit in this scenario.

    Hope that makes sense?

The other thing is that Tins has now given us next season’s target, and that is playoffs.  He’s basically said he expects us to be right in the mix next season.

I will of course wait and see what happens between now and mid-July when the season kicks off, before deciding whether that’s a realistic aim or not.  Just like I did on Manning’s appointment when they made their claims!

The other area I’ll be judging Tins on is recruitment.  That is nuanced again.  I thought the winter window was 6/10.

I guess, I could turn the question back on you now.  What your basis for continuing to give Tins credit, and what would it take to make you think the opposite?

I think it would’ve more appropriate to have an image of Tins in his playing days.  To put him “up-top” alongside Manning (no issue with Manning) and opposite Dicks with an image of his current role is bordering on antagonistic.  They didn’t use an image of Scotty Murray pegging the kit out did they! 🤣

That’s what they did with LJ Dave and wouldn’t be surprised if they do it again, albeit not quite to the LJ levels.

Then when they finally see that manning is not up to it and they can no longer paper the cracks they’ll appoint a proven manager to steady the ship whilst cost cutting.  😩

    "Assumed". "No evidence".

Amongst the reasons we were given for sacking Pearson were:

The manager is never here these days - The players are being given too much time off - We want more on the grass coaching of front foot progressive football.

And there's only one way you can come to those conclusions - you'd have to spend a lot of your time at the HPC.

SL, JL, GM, BT are the people responsible for Pearson's sacking.

So unless SL can see from Guernsey what goes on at the HPC every day, unless JL can do so from Bermuda or Feverpitch HQ, who the hell do you think came up with the bullsh1t about Pearson not turning up enough, the players having too much time away from the HPC, not enough "progressive" coaching going on out on the grass? GM being irrelevant.

    Who?

Even Inspector Clouseau could identify the culprit in that line up.

What's more, only one of those 4 had motive and opportunity.

Not only that but form for it too - Danny Wilson told us so.

So you'd have to be a one-eyed dunce not to know who was responsible for pouring poison in Lansdown's ear. Again.

It was Tinnion. In the HPC. With a knife.

Bravo. Absolutely brilliant post. Don’t know whether to laugh or cry after reading it though!!!

Do you know, the most surprising and actually quite disappointing thing about those figures is that we only have 973 season ticket holders between the age of 19 and 24!!
That really doesn’t seem like a lot.
When I was a ‘young adult’ my Saturdays were 100% all about City. And there seemed to be lots of people of my age at that time.
This really doesn’t seem like very many, in what would usually be an age group likely to be the more ‘boisterous’ and likely to create atmosphere.

I can’t prove it of course but I bet there’s loads in that age bracket who have selective memory when it comes to their age ie. They lie and buy a u19 one.

£700 for crap mid table Championship football next year, not very enticing.

I'm pretty sure Leicester do a renewal discount of 10% or something, would be nice for City to do something like that imo.

Don’t bank on it. That’s the best case scenario. Is more likely to be a relegation battle I reckon.

  12. Lansdown is probably looking to be reimbursed too heavily for all the money he’s wasted due to abysmal managerial and upstairs staff appointments down the years. His valuation and what prospective buyers value the club at are probably miles apart.

depressingly we will be waiting forever for fresh impetus. God knows we need it the club is so stale. He’s lost interest and sees us as an irritant at best. In turn his legacy is being tarnished as some fans become annoyed with him. It’s all very sad and is filtering through on the pitch now.

We’ve been here before, people saying they won’t renew, then we get a record number of season ticket holders the following season and The Lansdowns sit back and think all is rosey. When Pearson got sacked there was outrage but no one made a sound about it a few days later at Ashton Gate against Sheff Wednesday

Depressingly true. They won’t be getting my money next season though.

And we are now almost certainly going to be losing playing experience within the actual squad.

I was only thinking about Richard Gould’s time here , this morning and the overall set up.

It was clearly a testing time for RG downwards as we conducted , with a reduced budget , surgery on a dysfunctional squad , whilst keeping us away from threat of relegation

But right then , with Pearson , Rennie , and Fleming , Euell , Tinnion seemingly one board’ and working well within the plan , undoubtedly happy as **** that youngsters were being promoted and utilised ......we actually felt we were set up not only for that surgery to move forward

Square pegs (With proven ability and experience in their roles) in square holes , tick , tick , tick

Even any question of JLs competence or SLs apparent wane in interest didn’t seem to matter , or likely to spoil what was , probably the best whole set up , (We’ve had some decent Managers but not the whole set up) we’ve had in my lifetime

Now I look around across the whole structure , from the Lansdowns down to LM , and think  - who do I trust across the whole lot to ‘perform’ and make good decisions ?

for me - In all honesty , none of them at the present time

Away from results and performances in the meantime - as a structure what an almighty self sabotage

It means that if you had a magic wand and could get rid of one person , only one , in the structure right now , who would you choose ?

Because in reality I don’t think there’s one (Or I guess only one) you could choose to replace that would give any prospect of improvement and success.

Blimey just below the surface we look ‘fragile’ - We have all the ingredients for a crumbling

    Hang on tight

If I had to choose one person to go it would be SL as whoever came in next would undoubtedly replace the whole structure beneath him. 😀

If he has lost the fans than thats pretty pathetic. Christ we have an embarrassing support. The bloke has been here 3 minutes. Yes, he didn't arrive in ideal circumstances but he hasn't been given 20 games? We are Bristol City, not Barcelona.

our fan base is a lot more patient than some others clubs eg. Beale at Sunderland classic example.

People aren’t expecting us to be Barcelona, but we look more like Braintree at the moment and that’s where the frustration comes from. That’s before you even factor in the lies about top 6 squads and proclamations of front foot football.

    You’re missing the point.
He is literally the only bloke who is keeping the club afloat. There is no one else waiting in the wings waiting to pay £20 or 30 million every year to write off our debts to keep the club going.

Why are those losses so great do you think?? Do millwall or Preston lose that much each  season?? The losses are so great because the lansdowns make largely rubbish appointments on non playing staff who run the first team and recruitment.

On recruitment we don’t get good bang for our buck from the players we sign.

I hate them. And I am not one to use that word lightly.

I feel the same. Absolutely clueless on 1st team matters are the people who run our beloved club.

  18. No chance I will be renewing for me and my son. Couldn’t face it today because the QPR and Cardiff games broke me.
The football is absolutely dreadful. No doubt the lansdowns will let him carry on into next season as they find it hard to face up to their mistakes . I can’t see him being here for Christmas though then it will be up to whichever poor sod comes next to keep us up.

If I had to guess, our mid table, inconsistent squad will end up mid table, but let's wait and see.

Well maybe you're right, and the form continues like this, and I have to eat humble pie. Or maybe our form picks up, we finish more or less where we expected to (mid table), and everyone calms down and waits for next season, with Bird, Stokes, maybe Twine and others coming in to give us something to get behind.🤷‍♂️:city:

We’ll know a hell of a lot more in 24 hours I’m sure. Tomorrow is massive .

feels like a sliding doors moment. Absolutely ridiculous that this squad and club needs such a moment though and should be looking over our shoulders with only 10 games left IMO

Wanting a new manager/head coach when the current guy has only had 4 months or so, is knee-jerk in my opinion.

I want to see how Manning's City get on in the first half of next season. He'll have had a pre-season, new players and all this experience to draw on.

I don't think many managers would have got us anywhere near top 6 with this squad and our constant injury merry-go-round, that includes our Nige.

That’s not what people are angry about though. They are angry because the football as been largely dull (I know we were good vs Southampton) and we are are 6pts of the relegation spots and in abysmal form.

Tinnion and Jon Lansdown always come across as nervous idiots in interviews……

That’s because they don’t even believe what’s coming out of their mouths!!!!

We seem to be a bit more streaky under Manning than we were with Pearson, so once we get one win we're likely to get another soon after which will get us to 50 points. Once we have a couple more back from injury, especially Twine who was impressive in his only appearance, we'll start climbing the table again.

It’s getting that one win though isn’t it and if it doesn’t come Sunday we could easily be in or just above the relegation zone very quickly with how hard the few games after are.

Then the jitters kick in and anything can happen.
