Yes agreed. & hopefully if we do see improvement then you'll give them credit for making a good call & hope to see further progress next season, when he has had a pre-season & summer transfer window to implement some of his own ideas.
Yes if we improve I will give them all the credit they deserve.
they have made a big call and it will be interesting to see how it pans out

I think we all hope that this season can see us improve under the new appointment.
Be a bit more consistent score more goals & generally look like we are moving in the right direction.
To expect promotion would be crazy - to look like we are heading in the right direction for it would be excellent & refreshing.
I’m seething nige was sacked but I’m not going to put unfair pressure on the new man . BUT by the end of this season I’ll be expecting him to keep us in the top half as we are now and like you say start scoring a few more goals. Especially at home.
if we end up with no improvement at all I will be blaming tinnion and the lansdowns for their decisions.

Isn't the difference obvious..?
It won't be the new man's squad & he will be starting already adrift of the play off places, unlike the level pegging at the start of the season.
He will only have 2/3's of the season to claw that back.
Hopefully he will have his own ideas on players he'd like/not like to achieve his goals & won't have until January to make any changes to the squad whatsoever.
Is it really that hard to fathom out how the situation & expectations might differ..?!
Apparently we already have a top 6 squad.
if there is another churn of players then that makes sacking Pearson even more brainless. I thought we haven’t got much money

They won’t sack whoever they appoint if they miss out on top 6 and I think you know that and are just being a bit flippant
The next incumbent will be cut Johnson levels of slack and will be backed heavily as well. If this one goes t1ts the lansdowns are going to look stupider than ever and they’ll move heaven and earth to try and make sure that it doesn’t happen.

This seems like it’s going to slip under the OTIB radar with how lively all the threads are!
So you’re confident we’re making an announcement Monday then?!
If it’s Monday then it’s surprising we’ve had no word from any journos . All weve had is fan social media rumours and media just rehashing the betting markets.
could mean it’s someone from abroad if it’s that imminent and still no one’s any wiser
Manning sounded like he wasn’t close to leaving on the radio tonight.

Mersons got the situation bang off.
if Lampard was never in the picture it would of been better for us to come out and say that.

Unfortunately he has cost us goals which has meant points, he's not good enough consistently for a championship team with aspirations to challenge at the top end of the league.
Definitely an area we need to improve on in January, fat chance of that though!!!!
That’s how I see it as well. He was good today though

If the rest of the ground is silent that might be a clue?
Exactly. No excuse to claim it’s the tannoys

Good point but if it was nonsense they wouldn't give it credence.
Just click bait though. They aren’t trying to give it credence mate. By discussing the betting odds they aren’t making any fanciful claims that could make them look daft down the line.

Check Google. Input Frank Lampard Bristol City and you'll see that several of the nationals are running with it. I'm guessing they still employ journalists unless it's AI.
I have done but all I can see is papers saying that he is bookies favourite and discussing the betting odds. I can’t see anything where they say that they understand from sources that a deal is on the cards.

So, still nothing from anybody reputable then?
That’s where I’m at really. I’m not sure how this rumour has got this much traction without any journalists commenting on it.

Anyone else having issues when making a transaction?
Ever since new website came in ( or update, however you want to interpret it) seems to be issues when buying.Put all my card details in, press submit then comes back with a blank screen.
My old man did it for the coventry game few weeks ago and it charged him twice!
Took myself 6 attempts to purchase Southampton away this morning.
Had the same when buying rugby tickets yesterday. Two payments showing pending currently. Will get on to them if they both clear!

We have to give the new man a chance and to an extent if he doesn’t do well he won’t get much flak as it will be directed above him.
the powers that be have backed themselves into a corner on this one. They’ve indirectly been telling us the failings of the previous regime last few days and how the new regime will fix these and how we will play more front foot pressing football with a fitter squad. Where top 6 is a target.
if this doesn’t transpire they are going to look very stupid for getting rid of a well liked manager.
of course they might be right and prove the critical fans among us wrong. It’s going to be interesting for sure

99% of us are of the same opinion as you . Most of us are gutted he’s gone and think our owners have lost the plot.

In fact it was around £500,000 a week in 20/21 and who is it that funds that loss?
Christ. We really don’t get VFM on the playing side do we

I've been following Bristol City since 1990 but unlike you I have no agenda I just support the club but I can acknowledge that the positive things the current ownership have done far outweigh the negative like bankrolling a business than loses £300,000 a week.
It’s not that much is it surely??!!!! £300k a week!!

If SL were to sell (as he keeps mentioning), what exactly is he selling?
Surely BCFC on its own is not very attractive option as we don't own the stadium, or do you think he is looking for someone to take over the whole Bristol Sport operation that includes Football, Rugby, Basketball, Women Football etc..?
Genuinely don't know what he is selling, and what the potential buyer would get.
Any help to clarify would be appreciatedIt’s complicated and I don’t have the answers.
only thing I’m confident about is the fact that the whole Bristol sports model will make any potential deal much much harder.

Well, you say the next candidate wont be able to grow the squad, but let’s look at last time a decent manager was given no money… he was sacked and immediately after the bank of SL opened with happy hour - for 4 whole years.
This what sticks in my throat. He always backs the wrong horse.

One of the worst managerial performances in our history and some terrible signings. I remember being at Luton for the 5.0 and Swansea for the 7.1. Astonishing how they then end up running the football operations a decade or so later! May as well bring Osman and Millen back too!
Tinnion was doing a great job when involved solely with the academy but given how badly he faired as manager I have been surprised his remit has grown recently.
-
Appointing Holden , Lee Johnson , Millen and tinnion were rubbish decisions . I’d say they were not quite at this level though.

Yep, but he had a large budget at Stoke & failed, a large one at Derby & he didn’t get them up.
Absolutely no real track record of promoting young players, either.
Not a single promotion on his CV, 2 playoffs with Burton & 1 with Derby.
Basically another Lee Johnson then. Without the BS.

Allegedly Rowett has achieved this with Millwall:
19/20: 8th
20/21: 11th
21/22: 9th
22/23: 8thI bet his budget was quite well into the bottom half as well

Tbh not fair to lump them in together.
Gary Johnson tenure in the main was very decent for us. Went wrong final 6-12 months maybe but..
I love GJ Mr P but lansdown over indulged him budget wise in his last couple of years with us.

YesY we started very well - for 10 minutes much the better side. But at this level, you can't waste the opportunities we created - the Conway header was a weak effort.
Before that, Bell was clean through but failed to control a difficult ball, recycles it to Pring who's backing up - a simple pass to Prings left side would have allowed a first time whipped cross, instead Bell passes too hard and to Prings right foot and the movement peters out. Minutes later Pring is clean through if he can control it properly, he'd be in the area and could get a shot off but miscontrols it, it gets stuck under his feet and peters out.
All in the 1st 10 minutes, all not good enough and nothing to do having lots of injuries. Just inconsistent players not doing simple basics correctly.
After that, they're miles better until half time and deservedly lead.
But we should have been ahead by then and then who knows. At this level, our forward play in particular needs to be much, much better.
Absolutely brilliant post. That’s our biggest problem we lack accuracy/execution of promising situations. Someone slips over or takes a bad touch or hits the first man. It’s schoolboy stuff at times from us in the final third.
They’re a decent group giving their all but we seriously lack quality. For all the talk of injuries I can’t see much final third attacking quality that could come back and change things.
Players to be informed tomorrow l

Surely all those of accounts get their maximum stakes cut severely once they win on these markets??
only mug punters are allowed to bet big these days.
