The referee was dreadful throughout the game (note this is not to justify the behaviour, nor the defeat, Paulton were superb going forward and a particular mention to their 10 who not only gave Manor Farm's defence a torrid time, but also spent a good chunk of the game defending in his own penalty area. The better team on the day won without question). But the referees performance was to the point where one would think he had been club appointed, and even Paulton players were commenting on how bad he was after the game.

After Farm had a player sent of (a rare correct decision, though the original booking was the player reacting to an appalling decision, the second yellow was a nailed on one and a silly tackle to make when already booked) frustrations were rising on the Farm bench.

Lashenko (Farm manager) got booked, or spoken to by the ref late on (do managers get booked? Or just spoken to before getting sent off)

After the game they had the post match handshake just to the right of the goal this was filmed from, everything seemed OK at that point.

Then something clearly got said by either the referee or linesman, because Lashenko completely lost it and turned, going for the ref, calling him a liar amongst other things (you can hear this at 12-13 seconds in).

He was initially pulled away by some players and then tried to have a second go, which is the part that's been filmed.

You can also hear one of the people who went to the game say "he was walking away from you".

I fully understood why he was frustrated, but his behaviour there isn't acceptable at all and he will rightly get a fine, match ban or both.

So the question is, how many of the outfield players were really poor on the day, and would it be acceptable if the officials tried to attack them because of their poor performance!

What the BMF manager did is 100% unacceptable, regardless of whether anyone thought the referee didn’t have a good game.
Referees are quitting in massive numbers, I was told that nearly 50% of Hampshire’s referees have quit over the last 2 years. In Somerset there is a big shortage of referees, especially at youth level. Young lads who referee youth games are quitting because of the abuse they get, mainly from parents. Grown men threatening teenage referees, it’s sheer madness.

At the moment the semi pro leagues aren’t effected, but with no referees coming along behind the current ones, It could well be that these leagues will be short of officials in time.
Who in there right mind wants to put up with this sort of behaviour and the general 90 minutes of abuse every week.
No ref, no game. The game needs to wake up, because the way things are going it’s going to happen sooner than a lot of people think.

Firstly, it is years since I played football at any level, and I confess that the rules seem to have changed so much that I have no idea whether or not LL deserved his first yellow card.

He states that he was booked due to a comment that came from the dugout and suggests that, even though he didn’t make said comment, he was booked as he was the manager and, presumably, as the culprit couldn’t be identified, he was responsible (as manager) for the comment even though he didn’t make it.

You state that LL was booked in accordance with the rules of the game, but is my interpretation correct?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Yes, two years ago a new law came in, basically if there is abuse from the dugout that would constitute a yellow or red card, and no one owns up to it ( if the actual person wasn’t originally identified). Then the senior official in the dugout ( the manager) gets given the punishment.
For him to actually say he didn’t know this, is either total horlicks, or, what other laws of the game does he not understand!.

I’m sure there was a TV documentary about that.

This is just a short clip, but as you say there was at least one hour long documentary shown on tv.

It may well have been more than one episode.

Would this soul be regularly getting gates of 17,000 before Keegan turned up and was allowed to spend big to stop him having a hissy fit and walking out which eventually happened anyway?

Their fans seem to like rewriting history and playing the victim, there seems to be a reason why they haven’t won anything for donkeys years and it’s not Ashley..

To be fair - their owners have done a fair bit in the local community.

Re the Super League, I got the feeling that it was American Execs that were overall to blame for that fiasco, i.e. Bruce Buck at Chelsea.

Leicester show how it should be done. Overall material wealth means nothing unless used strategically.

The same Leicester who cheated ffp to get to the money league ?

I have never understood why so many consider Jackl to be some kind of legend.

No doubt he about his skills but he was a lazy bugger who scored a massive 7 goals for City. Osman left him out one game and announced that ‘a few tricks and a 30yrd shot isn’t enough’

A maverick carried by the rest of the team.

You play bowls, clearly you don’t like ‘any’ excitement in your life ?

Nice topic. prepare to open the flood gates... However, my personal favorite is going to Seville both for the deafening sound of the Sevilla Ultras at one end of the ground, the unity they show in the presentation of support is incredible to see but also for the passion of the City itself. Ramon Sanchez Pijuan is an open air stadium with games in late August often kicking off at 10pm due to the heat, its a great place to watch football. I used to travel there a lot and watch games especially when Tins was exiled down in Malaga, we used to meet up and see games together. I am privileged to have been to many La Liga Grounds but above all Sevilla stands out as the most passionate. If you visit, do stay in the Historic Centre of the City its lovely and is walking distance to the ground.

I want to go to Seville, not to watch them though, I want to watch Real Betis. Betis are the fourth best supported team in Spain. They have 50 thousand season ticket holders and thousands on a waiting list. only  the two Madrid’s and Barca have better support.

Sevilla and Betis in the same city has been likened to having Sunderland and Newcastle in the same city, real fervent support.

I think it would ultimately be good news for clubs like ours. We have the opportunity for decent backing, but FFP clips our wings and hands the advantage to parachute payment clubs or those that overspend.

The risk though is it enables the giant clubs to leave others eating dust with no way to make up ground. I think FFP has helped clubs like Leicester for example.

Clubs like Leicester who broke ffp rules to get promoted to the Prem?.

Some of you may read this nervous thatJohnson  is coming back to the club where even his bad runs are less embarrassing the run DH/NP have now overseen of 6 home defeats on the bounce?

No, he is coming with a tream he is quickly transforming and moulding into a winning side in a way no recent Sunderland manager has been able to do.

Unity for once, I hope on this forum that we really hope he gets a big win at the Memorial Tip. Like last night, i will have a glass for any away goal in an away win - and i rarely raise a toast to Swindle.

Anyone think Rovers will go as bottom team?

Anyone think they will swap places with the better (F.G) Rovers of the West Country?

Isn’t there a Lee Johnson forum you can post on ?

We’ve lost 1 game less than Bournemouth and they are in the play offs. Things could be worse. Most of the people on this forum are acting like we are in turmoil and the club are going to go bust.

yes we’ve lost the last 6 or 7 games, but remember this squad or players is the same squad that won 4 in a row at the start of the season...

So your satisfied that this lot won the first 4 games, but not concerned this lot have lost the last 6-7 games.
Your not in the least concerned that this lot can’t even win a corner now?

Apparently, Swindon's goalkeeper (on loan from Bournemouth) has been recalled and they need an urgent replacement for Saturday for their match against Rovers.

The word on one of their (Rovers) forums is that we are going to loan them JoJo W - I can't really see it, but just imagine if he plays a blinder and keeps a clean sheet.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought that after the Matty Taylor transfer, they said that no deals would be done between them and us?

That promotion season was fantastic, but i dont think cotts has ever had much success at championship level? He was allowed to put together a dream team at league 1 level, but doing that at championship level takes serious money.

“Allowed”, or very good management to sign players that fitted into his plans, the plans of how he wanted us to play. The complete opposite of the manager who came in afterwards, who had no plan whatsoever.

Absolutely. It’s not rocket science to appoint the best manager out there and pay the going rate to do that. The rewards far outweigh the risks, especially if those appointments are on short-term deals. If the PL was to end today, Everton would stand to get £36m in prize money for finishing second plus more money for getting into next year’s Champions League group stages and that’s before all the TV money. That more than pays the wages of Ancelotti, for example.

You only have to look at Leeds to see what a top coach can do to improve players.
