Not looking good up at the Oval, think Somerset need to just try to make sure they bat out the 50 and hope for some rain

The "greatly exaggerated" bit does make it appear like he is saying the incident happened but not as bad as it sounds. The CPS definition of assault by beating says
QuoteProvided there has been an intentional or reckless application of unlawful force the offence will have been committed, however slight the force.

So a summary is up on the Evening Standard site.
Apparently his defence is that his wife had been drinking heavily and was exaggerating when she called the police asking for him to be removed from the house after kicking her in the head.

Don’t fret Glos fans, that’s only a par score and we’ve all seen how easy it is to score when you’re in the groove.
I still fancy Glos to get to that total, should at least be a good game now

Well the double the score after 12 overs method didn't quite work for this one did it?!
-
Hampshire game is quite fun at the moment. They are chasing 185 to beat Glamorgan, but need to do it in about 14 overs to improve net run rate enough to possibly qualify.
Currently on target with 133/3 off 10

Spoke to soon
Oh dear, 54 off 20 overs required?

Glos doing very well, I reckon bat out 12 more overs after tea and they should just about be safe.

Could be quite a tense day at Cheltenham tomorrow. Unless someone tests positive for COVID and they have to abandon as a draw.

20 no balls!
Not good is it! Another 4 byes now, extras up to 81, up to 23rd in this list of most extras in a first class match https://stats.acscricket.com/Records/First_Class/Overall/Team/Most_Extras_in_an_Innings.html

I've not been watching the Glos/Hants match, but I couldn't help noticing that, of the 57! extras conceded in Hants' innings, 28 have been byes.
If anybody on here is watching, can they advise whether the pitch is playing up or is this one more example of young James Bracey's loss of form/confidence following his unfortunate England experience.
Extras up to 73 now with 40 byes. Bracey is definitely struggling a bit, I've seen a couple that he probably should've stopped.

Just looking at how division one is shaping up, I think Glos/Hants is the only thing to be decided - assuming Essex aren't awarded 45 bonus points.
Yorks/Lancs almost certain to be a draw so range of points based on how many bonus points.
Glos win/draw
Warwickshire 21
Lancashire 16.5 -> 18
Gloucestershire 16
Somerset 9.5
Yorkshire 4.5 -> 7
Nottinghamshire 5Hants win
Warwickshire 21
Somerset 18.5
Lancashire 16.5 -> 18
Hampshire 8.5
Yorkshire 4.5 -> 7
Nottinghamshire 5Looking at the score at Headingly I notice Lancs only two down at 110 overs - I wonder if they will try to bat out the day to prevent Yorkshire even getting 110 overs to bat and restrict their batting bonus points
-
Damn. Really needed Conway to hang around a lot longer

Can’t decide if we’ve bowled well or we’re going to be about 85ao here
I think both things can be true.
Apart from too many wides I think we did bowl pretty well, still don't think we will win.

We're pinning our hopes on Hampshire coming through with us I think. We'd then carry over 18-19 points into the next stage. If Glos or Surrey were to finish in top two we'd carry a lot less due to loss/abandoned games+limited bonus points
It does make sense. Not sure I approve, but the format does encourage some odd things. I was thinking in round 10 there may be some odd tactical decisions, wasn't expecting it this soon.

Not an ideal morning to be batting down at Taunton with that cloud cover I reckon. Lucky we have a strong top order.

The ball before the LBW was absolute plumb hitting halfway up middle.
Wish they’d get out there now because there is a bit of rain lurking to the west of Soton
Could see the rain starting to fall on the feed just as it cut out at the end. Hants probably only needed to bat one more over to hold on for the draw.

Another inspection at 4pm. Beyond a joke now, it’s not rained since 10am
Umpires looking fairly unimpressed

I am out and about today, so unable to watch the live stream.
Just catching up with the score on Cricinfo and the Somerset site, however, I note that we have scored two fives, presumably overthrows, and that Tom Abell was saved from a tight runout as the umpire was looking in the other direction!
Is anybody watching and able to advise?
A quick check on the Grockles site reveals a post from @TomF’s favourite, who confirms he has checked the scorecard and that Tom Abell’s possible runout was definitely Not Out!
Abell didn't quite make it but yes the scorecard confirms he was not out.
The umpire was looking more or less the right way.

Throwing everyone under a bus tonight. Had a pop at recruitment and owner too.
Very clear by his response when asked if he had any regrets at joining Rovers, that the answer is "yes".
Be surprised if he is still there at the start of next season. He'll try and engineer himself a move away if he isn't sacked.
For a couple of weeks it has felt a bit like he is trying to get sacked

Apparently Barton said pre match that he wouldn't of signed any of the current Rover's squad when he was at Fleetwood.
Wow, just wow.
He has quite the management style doesn't he?!
I presume this is his way of saying that there was nothing he could do to save them, doesn't really fit with the comments when he joined
QuoteBut also I looked at the squad in my research and the games I watched, and I wouldn't have come here if I didn't think they had more than a strong opportunity of getting into a safe zone and then trying to push on.

Essex with a lead of over 100, I suspect they may be in with a chance of winning that one now
-
So just 3 runs in it after first innings.
Not sure I can watch the start of the Somerset innings as feel a typical collapse could be coming up.

Yes, abandoned now. If we'd played the final two overs we'd have needed 3 wickets with no additional runs added to get ahead on DLS
