  1. Usual price bands ranging from £25 to £85 I think. Problem is, if you’re a keen England follower and want to get away/tournament tickets, you have to go to these games and collect the caps. ive been every home qualifier and I’m going Tuesday, I couldn’t face that last night knowing what sort of game it would be.
  2. They tend to go around the country in tournament years. Middlesbrough was pre Euro 20, Leeds/Leicester was ahead of 2018 WC etc The game at OT was a clash with an event at Wembley, Harry Styles I think!
  3. The Brexit means Brexit thing was weird, though I’m assuming you must be young as I have heard the under 18s in my team say it. However you then went on to say he only wants hard working players and then suggested that would mean most of his signings will have been white and British. What does colour and nationality have to do with how hard someone works?
  4. Very powerful video, just to be a little pedantic though it’s world mental health day, not just for men. Good work from Norwich
  5. Game we played in a couple of Saturday's back had similar. This big lad turned in the box and our defender nipped in and poked the ball through his legs and cleared it. Next thing you know he's on the floor absolutely convinced that the defender booted him in his achilles. Had to be carried off almost in tears. Despite his complaints (and threats to find where our defender lives and "do him in") I'm convinced he's done it under his own weight and if he has torn his achilles it will feel like someone kicked him. That sounds horrible. Luckily I've never witnessed a proper serious injury, been on the receiving end though but didn't know much about it
  6. Surely it comes down to what the person feels? My mum is of foreign descent but you wouldn’t know it and she doesn’t really embrace it due to a family fall out. I on the other hand do embrace that culture and heritage and am proud of that part of me. My partner was born in England, always lived here except a brief spell in Cardiff for uni, yet both her parents are Welsh. She considers herself English but with Welsh heritage. It’s purely down to the individual and how they identify IMO.
  7. I think it’s a poor attempt to dig his way out of what he said by the poster - but anyway it’s nonsense because we don’t have any players that do this? Last player to fly into tackles consistently like that was Baker.
  8. That’s a really pointless jab at MH issues
  9. The worst thing about that Basham injury for me is how innocuous it was. This wasn’t a tackle or foul, his standing foot just went under him. Horrible watch. I always think the breaks that happen with little contact are the scariest, Cisse’s for Liverpool always sticks with me (I think there was slight contact?). We all know the dangers of a big tackle, it’s awful to think it can happen just by misplacing your footing or while running along

For me, if you take away the glam and off-field fame, he's the player that every single kid should look to as inspiration. He trained every hour he could growing up, he didn't go out partying or drinking (early on) and absolutely loved playing for his club and country. As you say the mental strength and character to come back from what he did, he was nearly always a model professional on the pitch. In terms of his ability you only have to look at what his teammates have to say about him. He had Barca and Real Madrid fighting over him, he was a star, not just a passenger, in a team with the likes of Zidane, Figo, Raul, Ronaldo, Carlos etc Agree with this, he seems far more down to earth and humble than you'd expect. He just seems a decent bloke. I was too young at the time to really watch the game with any tactical insight - remember it was at a time that he was still copping a lot of abuse from England fans and he was desperate to do well.

He didn’t come from money, what he had he earned and… As above, he wasn’t “intelligent” but he was clever. He knew football wasn’t forever and he wanted something else to move into afterwards. I don’t think he comes across anywhere near as “dim” as it was always made out, although maybe a little naive and a bit stupid in his early days with Victoria (driving hours just to see her for an hour for example, the night before a game) He actually had a good left foot, he says he worked on it all the time as a kid. He could take corners with both feet - I guess when your right is THAT good though, why bother

The documentary series is now available on Netflix in 4 parts. I can’t be alone here in saying I grew up absolutely idolising this bloke and so this was a must watch for me. The abuse we received after France 98 was criminal, literally. I’ve no idea how the bloke overcame that. One take away from that, what a piece of work Hoddle was for his comments. He could have tried to defuse that situation or protected him better. You can see after that it galvanised the United players and no wonder there was the much talked about rifts in the England camps. Fergie instilled an “us against the world” mindset. It’s a shame they skimmed over 2002 a bit quick for my liking. I’d have liked to have heard more about the build up to that Argentina game. That Greece free kick has to be one of the best England goals of all time though, pure goosebumps every time I see it.
  13. In the cold light of the next morning, I’d largely write this one off as “there’s another team on the pitch”. They were shit, ugly, physical, long ball and they crowded out the midfield. They truly stunk out the game in my opinion and it stifled us first half. Sometimes it’s hard to implement change mid game and we just needed to get to half time and sort ourselves out, which largely we did. Second half was much better and we were able to move the ball quicker and pull them about. Taking hugill off was a big changing point for me, they lost their target and didn’t really rhreaten then other than the goal. I can’t say we really looked like winning it, but after half time I was never worried we’d lose it. I thought Dickie was decent, Naismith had a tough night and the ref gave him nothing at all. No one really stood out as having a great game, but sometimes you have to win ugly.
  14. Why would you want to move Knight who’s been probably our best player so far this season?
  15. Couldn’t see a thing of the first half incidents but on the highlights the bell one looks clear cut
  16. That goal just gets better and better the more I watch it. As you say what a reaction
  17. change last 2 lines to: been with us since he was seven tommy Conway scores again or Another one of City’s own Tommy Conway scores again
  18. He seemed to let a lot go tonight, hugill git away with assault
  19. I can’t believe someone said Bell is a better finisher than Conway. Wow have we missed him and what quality. I hadn’t wven spotted he was on the bench til he came on
  20. Definitely a foul, bell pushed the Rotherham defender into the keeper
  21. Rarely did anything with it though, Hugill definitely had the better of Naismith first half but he was getting fouled most times. Much less effective second half and now he’s gone off
