  1. Yea when I searched after there was a lot more than I’d realised, but apparently a small percentage of the total pool tested compared to other sports. Probably agree that few will care though.
  2. Oh wow yes the multi coloured one, forgot about that!

Is this a joke? Hes out of form, and low on confidence for sure but at the peak of his confidence he had some of the best stats for a defender for possession and ball carrying and he’s very good at stepping forwards and playing forward passes. https://breakingthelines.com/player-analysis/an-analytical-look-at-harry-maguire/ This article is old, granted but to say he is “awful on the ball” is crazy.

To be honest, that’s been England for as long as I can remember. We’re either shit or boring and when we win by a large margin it’s “only” whoever we played. Stones yes, the rest no chance. A couple are a fair debate but the rest absolutely not. Mings ffs? ?
  5. Obviously the 90 minutes in that quote equates to the completion of the game, not meaning that because they were in injury time that it stands. The game is to be replayed
  6. Amazed so few footballers have ever “popped” for PEDs to be honest - though most clubs have top level doctors now, if it did go on they’d be all over the protocols.

Are you calling him clueless or suggesting him for the job??

Exactly this. I think it’s become a bit of a bandwagon that people jump on now and it’s funny to mock him for some reason. Had one on here saying Maguires been poor in our last 4 games, despite 3 clean sheets and a win over Italy (which in fairness he was poor in). half of the problem with Maguire is United are a basket case at the moment (and their fans are idiots, booing him). Sancho’s career has died out there, Rashford is looking a shadow of himself again, Ronaldo seemed forced out in the end. International football is very different to club football, you can’t just chuck in 2 CBS who haven’t played together into a tricky Ukraine away game (maybe do it at Malta home!) That’s my view. And who would he replace? Argument he could be in the squad but there’s dozens of players who could make up numbers in the squad and someone has to miss out. Not sure Chelsea is necessarily an anomaly. Again, international football is very different to club football, would he have the same joy he found at Brighton in much less training time? Some managers just suit certain teams / at certain times and can’t repeat it when they move. This is a large part of it, it’s a longer trajectory to get players up to speed. You need to bring players into the squad around your core players. Thats why Maguire starts for me at the moment, because Stones isn’t there someone with experience has to. FWIW I wouldn’t necessarily be against Southgate leaving. He’s done a brilliant job of bringing everyone together to support the team but there’s now a risk of undoing that if we don’t have a “good” tournament and in most people’s eyes that will be reaching the final, minimum.
  9. We don’t have a black GK kit this season? Or is this a whoosh ?
  10. That’s not a rule. FA rules simply say all abandoned matches must be replayed unless competition rules or organiser determine otherwise It rained heavily in a few places up north yesterday evening

I’m a Southgate fan, and I’m aware I’m as rose-tinted as they come with regards to England but not a great game tonight. firstly though, Maguire had to start. He’s proven himself at this level, and it would be madness to throw 2 inexperienced players together. If Stones had been around, I’d have maybe been up for leaving Maguire out due to lack of minutes this season. That said, don’t think Maguire did much wrong. I do think he can be guilty of slowing the game down, but one thing he’s often looking to do is make a forward pass (and anyone who’s watched enough of him knows he’s pretty good at it usually). He slows it down because he isn’t just going through the motions sideways. Funnily enough because it was mentioned he doesn’t get in the Brighton team, is he does what de Zerbi’s CBs do - he tries to invite the press. Anyway, I realise many will disagree. Walker was brilliant as usual but I don’t think many others covered themselves in glory. Cant understand why Henderson started, definitely agree it’s time to phase him out. There’s simply better players now. If you’re a doom merchant that was a “typical England” performance tonight, slow, sloppy, unimaginative. But most of us know that’s not the England we’ve been in recent times. Dust ourselves down and go again Tuesday - I’m actually nervous, Scotland are flying at the moment and Hampden Park will be rocking. I’m not confident on a win tbh!
  12. Yea that’s probably true. I’m guessing they didn’t anticipate this delay, or they thought the anticipation might drum up shirt sales? Im sure it’s not the first time we’ve waited this long for a shirt to be released, may have been a purple third kit - didn’t we have a situation where we were approaching a game against someone in red and white and there was speculation about what we’d wear? Got a feeling it was 14-15 promotion season, Sheff Utd away? And it was the first purple shirt rebirth? edit just look d that up and we played them early in season so maybe we didn’t wait that long!
  13. Not even sure why they had to release a “third” kit first. Just call it an away kit and bring the 3rd one out later and no one would even be moaning

Pickford for me still, even Arsenal are considering changing Ramsdale. Personally I don't get the hype and didn't cover himself in glory in that abysmal Nations league game against Hungary.

It's as much past performances for England as it is "reputation".

People look back on Euro 96 with nostalgia. Hardly plan sailing after the opening draw and squeezing past Spain on penalties. As you say though, it was a very strong squad and on home soil arguably should have gone all the way? I think Southgate's done a brilliant job. We probably did miss a golden opportunity against Italy but we're miles ahead now of that embarrasing exit of Euro 2016. Well that's nonsense. Admittedly he was ropey against Italy but we won, he's then kept 3 clean sheets and been solid. He's certainly not been "shocking". When did we last play a back 5? Not since before the World Cup. It's far from a "disgrace" to see why one of our better performers is picked in the absence of our other almost ever present CB so we don't go into some big games with 2 inexperienced, and more crucially new pairings, at CB. JWP isn't England level IMO. We've got much better options in midfield - although I wouldn't pick Phillips either.

As has been said, Trent went off injured and Grealish didn't play due to injury. It's hardly a conspiracy

Why is it baffling? he IS great for England. I think he's been a victim of a terrible United side for a few years. It's not like they look brilliant and solid without Maguire is it? I wish he'd left in the summer and gone and enjoyed his football elsewhere without the shit his own fans give him. Half of it is probably confidence, which is why he looks better for England. Also with Stones out it's very likely that Colwill (under 21s winner) could start one of the two games, it would be silly not to have some experience alongside him in what is 2 potentially difficult fixtures.
  19. Tbf signed contracts are different to future contract discussions
  20. Fair play, big crowd heading up. This isn’t making it even to members at this rate… 408 left, might be a few members lucky tomorrow
  21. The neck on the keeper shirt is very tight, I worry about ripping it every time
  22. You’ve not been to an away game this season I assume?
  23. I wouldn’t say it upsets me as that would suggest it bothers me more than it does, but I do find it a bit silly to talk about the Premier League as if it’s not the same division - whilst talking about how many Champions League trophies Liverpool (for example) have and counting European cup wins. That’s a completely different competition now. Also, if we’re referring to rebranding, it was the Premiership for a while wasn’t it?
