  1. It was, I was there and it was an unthinkable result at the time. BUT if someone had told me that would more or less be 'it' for the next 30 years I guess if I had listened to them I could have saved myself a whole lot of time, money and heartache.
  2. I'm wondering if he's been training with the Bears

    KFC

It was shut for about a week, shut when we came back from West Ham for sure. But it was open when we got back from Preston on Saturday. And no, I haven't been in there for years.
  4. I didn't actually realise it was Good Friday until Alexa confirmed it. Knowing the City OS it could well have been a Saturday and just cut and pasted from a rugby game!
  5. That's a good point, Burnley could well be a Championship club next season.

    Dehumidifiers?

I did have a couple of these a few years ago, when we had our old double glazed windows. After we replaced the windows I thought it would improve, as I said even on the coldest days I always like to have windows open even it's it's only a few minutes to change the air. I don't like it too hot. I didn't find these pots very effective, they filled up fairly quickly and didn't seem to be effective. It's only really for a couple of months I notice condensation, I guess even cooking and showering, wet towels etc all adds up and doesn't help. A dehumidifier sounds like a good investment. I'm not so worried about the cost of it or running costs, just wanted to be sure they were effective and it sounds like they are.
  7. Always on the cards after he moved down here so quickly after the loan was announced. Glad it has happened all the same though, didn't want to hear the news he had gone elsewhere.

    Dehumidifiers?

Thank you all, very helpful advice. We do seem to have a lot more condensation this year, I mean not dripping but the windows are wet and it just doesn't look good and I'm wondering about the health implications. I always open the windows every day but by morning it's bad again. I think I will certainly invest in one.
  9. Anyone got an experience of these. I've read a lot recently about people using them to help condensation on windows, drying washing indoors. I've always thought of them as something people use to dry out after flooding, dry plaster etc but they seem more of an every day appliance now. Are they worth the money? I've read the air is better and heating more efficient etc. Any thoughts much appreciated.
  10. Not exactly the same but I had experience of an incident at the National League Football final at Wembley earlier this year. There was a person sat with his mate before the match very near where I was. Suddenly his mate was gesturing to stewards who arrived in numbers, then loads of medical staff, then paramedics. The man had consumed too much alcohol. He was vomiting and totally unresponsive to them trying to wake him. He was a very, very large man in his mid 50's I would guess. He also had no control of other bodily fluids and had to be moved. The point I really want to make is that in the middle of a football stand there is very little room for medical teams to assess and work. Lighting isn't great either. At Wembley they did a great job in helping this man. They had to carry him out. They couldn't get a stretcher in the row, he couldn't fit in the chair lift thing so they physically had to carry him. We all had to be moved to other seats and there was a lot to organise to get him out safely. So after seeing what the stewards and medics had to deal with that day I have nothing but admiration for them and the difficulties a big crowd in a stadium poses for them. Edit: The paramedics were all saying it was excess alcohol consumption, I wasn't jumping to conclusions.
  11. I remember that as clear as day. It was some Scottish marching band. It had been raining heavily and as they matched one of them appeared to slip. As he was in full Scots dress, kilt etc the whole crowd gave a ,,,'whoa hey' type laugh and it was only when he led on the floor and his fellow marchers stepped over him we realised all wasn't good. Think we had a collection and everything for him at the next match
  12. Exactly. As I said they were booed off by a lot of their fans at the break, we had them on the ropes. Instead of landing a killer punch when the match resumed, or at least trying to, we let them take control. We had it in our hands and got what we deserved by not being brave or having belief. Yes we have a big game coming up on Tuesday, but surely the best preparation for that would be to go into that on the back of a win or at least a good performance. Now we face West Ham with neither.
  13. I understand that. But sing, shout, clap, jump around. Not sit in silence after the initial celebrations and whip your phone out and wave a light around. It was quite a moment to witness at a match.
  14. All the phone lights, am I at a concert? Weird lot
  15. Quite a lot of boos from the home crowd at HT. It feels like a drab match on a dull January day, which of course it is
  16. Just arriving. Raining here now, looks grey and miserable
  17. The figure I know about, and is genuine certainly looks massive to me. Obviously in the world of football where they talk in these sums as the norm it might not be, but I'd certainly be happy with earning that much money a year, or even better getting the push and getting it anyway.
  18. They generally always seem to go a goal down in their matches, then fight back often scoring injury time winners. I am fearful today!
  19. I couldn't resist writing that response In absolute honesty I am resigned to the fact that ship has sailed a loooong time ago. Heart says 'absolutely' but sadly sensible head says 'no'.
