  1. I think he was just ran ragged. He seemed to be attempting to cover for another player who was no where in sight. It would be harsh to lay all the blame on him as he was one of the few bright sparks until then. But it was a bad mistake by a fading player. Coaching staff should have noticed, and acted, on how much Cardiff were pushing our under pressure players.
  2. All I can remember from the Cardiff defending was Flint trying to do his best Tony Adams impression, and all this defenders deserting him, backing off and pushing out at the same time, it looked a mess. This caught him on the back foot and constantly have to readjust. Add into that Brownhill, who was good going forward at least, seemingly marking the Ref and the rest us history. Shocking.
  3. Well and truly outclassed last night, men against boys. Just shows by resting a couple of key players, just how important they are. I've seen Bristol lose a lot this season but they haven't looked so outdone as this, poor. But that said, it's all about Premiership survival.
  4. It's Winterstoke road isn't it, for the metrobus roadworks. They have been closing the road early evening after matches to do work, but amazingly they can't wait until after a 3 o'clock kick off finishes this weekend so moved the match 12pm KO...its just pure coincidence we are playing Cardiff, apparently! The road then can be closed earlier, don't think it's shut before match, but don't quote me on that!
  5. I guess they will be working though the night on that one. Yes originally it was football at 3pm on Saturday followed by rugby 24 hours later. Now TV schedules and road closures (!) leave a much smaller turnaround with rugby first, the perfect storm..even without the predicted weather. I have great faith in our groundstaff though, they do a great job.
  6. Reading the comments above its made me change my mind a little, I was feeling frustrated we don't have a league game for a month just when we were finding a bit of form, but maybe it could be a good thing. We have a new player arriving don't we, gives us time to bed him in. Also Gav maybe back in the next few weeks, but Woodward has been kicking everything so not so urgent now. Im feeling a bit gutted, no a lot gutted, I'm in Newcastle when we play Bath in the league, but will be going on Friday for the Cup match so that will have to do.
  7. So if they declare higher attendances than they can fit in aren't they in breech of ground regulations for one, and also got to hand more £££ over to the tax man or whoever gets a cut?
  8. Ooh that was tense, great win. Willing on Worcester to lose now, what the hell are Harlequins doing???
  9. I was at Birmingham and Reading too, we played well especially against Brum I thought and were desperately unlucky. Compare those games to our recent games at home to Brentford and Preston and we looked a shadow of ourselves. I didn't see the Wolves game first hand but it sounded much like tonight's performance. We are getting worse as naturally the confidence has drained from us. We lack a real leader on the pitch, Flint aside as he's had his own problems during these mstches too. Our senior players are failing to appear as the experienced Pro's they are. We just seem to be caught up in an ever changing swirling mess of team changes, now partly due to injury and illness. I really don't know what the answer is, it's beyond us all as we don't know details behind the scenes. By that I mean what the players have written into their contracts etc. I'm glad it's not my problem, but problem it is.
  10. I'm a supporter of Lee's, probably only because I don't want to believe the wrong person was appointed as it would be yet another failure in our history. But seeing all those 'L's' in black and white don't lie. You can't dress it up, we haven't got a player who will make a difference ready to return from injury or suspension for example. No away win since I saw the game at Fulham in September (?) is terrible. Just listening to him on the radio now, sorry but I don't feel loved right now, it's not enough to tell us that.
  11. You clearly didn't understand my point, maybe that's more me than you but some others have grasped what I intended to highlight, with all due respect to you too.
  12. @Dollymarie and I have already had a discussion about him. I don't know first she eyes up Flinty after I saw him first now she's noticed Mr Varndell. I can about accept that, now luckily for me she didn't get to see Tovey play today (where were you Jack ) If she sets her sights on him there's going to be trouble!!!
  13. Just for you...it can stay here for a while now. The topic was clearly titled so if you weren't interested perhaps you shouldn't have looked. I have made it relevant to football in any case.
  14. In the Premiership, yes. They have won a couple of cup games against a French (?) side. Yes it's their first win, but they have been mirroring the football, ie largely playing ok but ultimately being beaten.
  15. I'm not saying our footballers haven't got fight in them but if I was Lee Johnson I would be sitting them down on Monday to watch the video of this game. Whether they understand rugby or not is irrelevant, they can see how to grind out a win when everything, and I mean everything, is against you. The true meaning of teamwork. For those who don't know Bristol had a player sent off, red carded not just sin binned after only 13 (?)minutes, that decision alone was harsh. Rugby is almost impossible to play a man down for that length of time. The Ref seemed to be awarding everything he could against us as often as he could. Unlike City Bristol were never behind in the game, but Worcester clawed back points and were only one point behind and we had to go again. If we had let them overtake us we would have collapsed, physically and mentally we had to hold on and play for each other, each man doing his work and more. They gave their all. The fooball team need to get some of this mental belief and sharpen up physically too. We need to be a yard infront on both counts. Whether that's different preparation, training or whatever. Are they having motivational speaker sessions with people who are able to reach them? Maybe they should see if they can take anything from the rugby guys?
  16. Harsh on Engvall, at least he looked positive and tried to move the ball forward. So LJ should continue to let a 19 year old be responsible for the bulk of the goals in a team should he, how many other successful teams rely on this tactic? I personally think we are running Tammy into the ground, if we are going to persist with the one up top then play Tammy for 60 minutes and replace him with Engvall. That way Tammy gets a rest and Gus gets game time. I've no idea if this would work but apart from Wilbs it's all we've got until January at least. I'm sure the Brentford goal was scored whilst we were still dwelling on Tammy's miss. And misses they were, open goals when it was easier to score than not, and he still couldn't, making him increasingly frustrated. They weren't great saves, but misses on the whole by all our players. Our keepers SAVED Brentford chances, our players MISSED our chances, that was the difference tonight. Brentford looked no better than us, but they took all 3 points which is hard to swallow. I can take home defeats to Newcastle, Brighton, and away defeats to Birmingham, Reading. Away to Huddersfield we should have got more, but beaten at home by Brentford and that performance is my low point so far this season.
  17. I've only missed 2 games and Bristol won them both, so it's confirmed, I am unlucky for them. The bad news is I've given Wolves a miss on Boxing Day and opted to watch them play Worcester instead, sorry!
  18. I've watched him playing for Melbourne City 2 years, (on Tv), class player as you say, Not going to get a game at Man City though, Huddersfield are very privileged to have him, would have loved him to be our player. We didn't have much if the ball, and did even less with it. We played well at Birmingham and came away with nothing, today we got what we deserved. We must pick up points st home now, any cushion has disappeared.
  19. You could argue he scored against Reading. But yes, not the right sub for me today.
  20. I was impressed with him against Hull, but as you say perhaps it's not happening in training. Makes me wonder how much we knew about him before we bought him. Yes one for the future but with Kodjia going we needed 'one for now' at the time.
  21. Had one good game since coming back from injury, apart from that he's looked a shadow of himself. Think he's been rushed back, shouldn't be playing 90 minutes.
