  1. The only thing that could have improved this is if the 2 puppets joined in with a chant of “stand up if you hate the gas”. As for the developing the Mem point, spot on, they winge that BCC has done nothing for them (& still reckon they might in time ?) conveniently forgetting they didn’t lift a finger to help us, either. In fact they could not have been more obstructive during the whole Ashton Vale saga & if it wasn’t for Steve Lansdown’s patience we would be no further forward. I said it before, they are just parasites, they add absolutely nothing to sport in the area & I hope they fold. Blue “half” of Bristol ?. By the way I have seen every single derby game since 1973, so don’t play the “it used to be great” card, either.
  2. There is absolutely no chance of them stuffing Sunderland this evening, the game is on Saturday..
  3. It did in the “Colin Daniel” season.. You don’t have to follow that level too closely to realise they are effing awful, they drew with Wigan when they had to put out a youth side, then under Barton they lost at home to them, drew at home to Wimbledon when they were bottom, lost on Saturday to Plymouth (who had lost their previous 5) & now Swindon have done the double over them. Barton has lost 7 out of his 10 games in charge, 7 points from 30 is not relegation form, it is 24th place form.
  4. Good luck to him. LJ didn’t take us too much further forward in his time here but it wasn’t the disaster that some make out either. His CV prior to us was ok but some could understandably not see past his connection with SL. What I would say is he is at a bigger club, although in a lower league & if they do go up I’d expect them to avoid being in a relegation scrap next season, which is usually the fate of many promoted side (look at this season’s table, all 3 are in the bottom 5, 2 will probably go back down). Final point, our last head coach will never get offered a job like Sunderland, will he?
  5. Yep, John Major was Prime Minister & I was still (just) in my 20s, I had my vaccine jab at the home of football last week on age (55+) grounds, so that’s how long ago it was. Makes me laugh when their fans comment on the standard at Championship level (saw one saying there was little difference between it & L1), as if they would ever know. They’re an irrelevance now, never see anyone wearing their shirts & bump along as a bottom six third division side in a tented village.
  6. If they do get through the playoffs or manage to catch enough clubs to make top 2, I can see LJ looking at a few of those we have who are out of contract but clearly good enough for a side promoted into The Championship, the likes of Hunt, Watkins & possibly Paterson might all be of interest to him.
  7. Good result but they are still *****.
  8. Just seen the goals & the technique on display was excellent, especially for Reading’s second & City’s 3rd. Also a brilliant bit of refereeing to play the advantage for City’s second. Of course the standard isn’t as high as upper level men’s football, but surely that’s irrelevant? If I watched a League Two game on Sky I wouldn’t think that player isn’t as good as De Bruyne, would I?
  9. Good for them. As there are 22 league games a season I believe, surely there is sufficient space in the calendar for them to play 11 games at Ashton Gate?
  10. Yep & guess who booked a holiday for that week (Scotland) recently? Nailed on we will start at home with the following weekend being the balloon fiesta, (not the 28th) so if crowds are back (which seems highly likely) I’ll miss it!
  11. Good start so far, lost at home to Wigan (can’t recall the last time they beat anyone else), win over Shrewsbury & defeat at Burton who unlike them are pulling away from danger since appointing Hasselbaink. Think there are probably 6 clubs for 4 spots & the blue few are definitely one of them. Perhaps they appointed Barton because he has previous experience of going down?
  12. Part of this is either naivety or honesty on our part, depending on your point of view. Preston blatantly go looking for penalties as part of their game plan, of the 3 they have had awarded against us up there in the last 2 seasons both Sinclair & Johnson dived without contact to win them, we just don’t do that. We also don’t harangue referees the way say, Ayew does..
  13. Standard for the “family club” Andy Spring, David Pipe. The bloke he has brought in today as a coach (Mangan) has also served a five month ban for betting on matches he played in, pretty sure no one has ever done that with the blue few before, eh? Barton still has his court case outstanding from the time he “pushed” (according to the BBC) the former Barnsley manager, Stendel. Must have been some “push”, seeing as Barton legged it from the ground immediately after the game & a Barnsley player said their manager was bleeding from a head wound..
  14. Anglo Scottish qualifier, the one where Chris Garland got down on his hands & knees & headed the sixth goal over the line from a foot..
  15. It appears to be a bloke wearing a papier-mâché dog head. Fairly standard for the gas..
  16. Me too, my first one at their place, which was nearer to home than Ashton Gate..
  17. I used to work with Mrs Lines, she is a very nice person. Anyone who knows me well enough to know just how much I despise that club will understand that is about as generous as I can be about them, Christmas spirit or not.
  18. Absolutely. The club has had to survive with pretty much no income since March, these prices are not unreasonable & in light of a maximum 2,000 capacity make a lot of sense. ST holders like me are still being refunded every game, which must be costing the club a fortune.
  19. Ha ha! My old man, 80 in February & a City fan all his life, has lived in Kingswood since the 80s.. He did grow up in BS3, though ?
  20. Personally I am more than happy that large parts of Kingswood/Patchway are classified as outside of the city. As for Filton Avenue, that is the far North, all a bit too Gloucestershire/Gas for my liking.. No surprise it is in tier 3 then, (unhygienic lot).
  21. This seems to have completely passed me by, but just noticed they were in the first round of the FA Youth Cup in midweek (the competition that we won at Nottingham Forest in), the result was; Bristol Rovers 2 Camberley Town 3. ******* tinpot.
  22. Pretty sure he was subsequently interviewed by The Bountyhunter @Merrick's Marvels @Moments of Pleasure and after a spell in non league football he then worked as a travel agent, I think? Definitely never played league football for anyone else, though may have had a loan spell somewhere (Crewe?) whilst still with us?
  23. Spot on. Evil day all round, ref was as biased as I have ever seen, Nottinghamshire police in the miners strike era were total bastards and we were cheated. As others have said we had a massive away following, in those days Notts County were top flight & we were in Division 4, bit of a reversal of fortune these days.
  24. OP, never apologise. A great day, made all the sweeter by us being the clear underdogs. Everyone remembers Martyn Hirst’s goal but Tom Ritchie’s was absolutely brilliant.
  25. 100%. That was after years of being kicked off the pitch by them, enduring “will you ever beat the gas” & putting up with their third world facilities. **** them, they tried to steal Ashton Gate from us in ‘82, & they were the only sporting organisation in the area that wouldn’t support the city having a venue if we got the World Cup. Not only do I never want them to play us again, I hope they fold. Parasites.
