    Mbude.

Spot on. What impressed me wasn’t his ball skill but his sense that having beaten a player or two now was the time to give it, rather than showboat at 3-0. He wasn’t as tall as I expected & definitely thought better of one 50/50 but promising & can expect a few more sub cameos, I think.

    The Ref

What an embarrassment. Scared to book any of their players, best to say it when you win but as one sided a display as you could get.

    Matt James

For any of us who ever played football & wondered why we didn’t make it, imagine playing against someone like him. Absolute class, positional sense immaculate, rarely wastes a pass. Superb player.
  4. Steve Wright was like Tony Blackburn, never remotely cool but extremely good at what he did. Very sad news.
  5. My hunch would be just like the number of points we have, we’re slap bang in the middle with regard to our number of injuries. I think we understandably focus on ourselves but as an example on Saturday for West Brom Daryl Dike suffered his 3rd major injury in only his 5th game in the last year & Kyle Bartley went off injured, too. I remember seeing Leeds having 9 out injured & Millwall as well struggling with injuries. Cardiff too, O’Dowda out injured since August.. Our issue has been the policy of running with so few senior players which exacerbates this.
  6. Wonder if Sykes might be on the bench tonight? Likewise Pring could be a doubt after Saturday.
  7. “More areas blue than red”. That must be why our recent gates have been circa 23,000 & theirs are under 8000. As my old maths teacher used to say, show your workings, sonny.
  8. Without looking this up I would be absolutely amazed if the crowd was anything like that. Aside from the games at the end of the first season in the top flight (Man U, Liverpool, Leeds) & a couple of memorable cup games already mentioned we usually struggled to get much over 20,000. Someone can probably look this up but I would be astonished if we had 37000 for this. I can definitely recall crowds of 14,000 & 15,000 for top flight games.
  9. And just to really rub it in we took the piss even more by Chris Honor scoring the fifth goal.
  10. Didn’t feel like a night game as it seemed like was light for most of it! Great night though.
  11. There’s a huge difference between rivalry & respect. Argyle have an excellent away following, have transformed their ground to one fit to host Championship games & get decent crowds. I know they don’t like us, but can see how they are really the only other serious SW club. Couldn’t agree more about Blackburn, in truth most Championship clubs in that area are amongst the smaller ones, Manchester & Liverpool are both dominant in that part of the world.
  12. Plymouth are the only other club in the South West of any significance.
  13. Totally. It was also such a rare time in the life of a City fan. Promoted behind Scunthorpe United from the third tier with a Brazilian goalkeeper who wasn’t even a regular at Woking prior to joining us yet we were only 90 minutes away from the Prem. Every time anything goes wrong (even stuff we have absolutely no control over) you get “typical City” on here, that era was anything but.. Also, Marvin Elliott was as good a midfielder as we have had since the top flight that season & although it was obvious all year that we struggled to score goals (where have I heard that recently?) our determination, fitness & work rate got us loads of late goals & points. Great times under GJ.
  14. @Curr Avon I know you know this but the amount of additional time signalled is the minimum. So if a side scores in injury time (like Boro did) further time will then be added on because of the delay before the restart. Of course the variance in interpretation of additional time is far more questionable.
  15. Andi Weimann was 10 when we last played them in a league game.. Still at least those losers got the opportunity to see a proper footballer before making their way to watch their bunch of jokers.
  16. Sure is. If he moves on this summer someone is getting a very good player & brilliant professional.
  17. He didn’t join us until March in that season.
  18. 15,000? Do I hear 12,000? Sold to the man with the Kuwaiti bank account. They struggle to get 9000, so I can’t see why they need more than 12,000. If Pompey & Derby go up they sure aren’t getting 3000 away fans against Burton, Fleetwood or Stockport County, are they? I know the local media like to perpetuate this false equal coverage bollocks but I don’t see the point of them.
  19. I reckon Knight’s penalty was the first shot on target. Absolutely dire game.
  20. Absolutely. Saw a couple of terrible hammerings at Twerton but much as I hate to admit it, Rovers under Francis were very effective in both of those games. Brighton were just as bad as us but we were absolute litter, totally gutless & wouldn’t have scored if they had packed up & gone home. Anyone who ever wonders why Wilson was rightly sacked afterwards should be made to watch this game every week until they get it.
  21. Taylor really struggled at FGR but he’s scored in both his appearances since joining Cheltenham. Clarke has done a great job, sold their main striker in January & yet still battling away.
  22. I know. I was explaining to a mate (Brighton fan, in his 30s) about the year we got to the playoff final, in 2008 & he said he was still at school then..
