  1. He’s their 4th choice, that’s why. Good luck to him but sadly I think his chances of ever earning an Irish international cap is slim. Suppose the other way to look at it was if he had declared for his country of birth it would be less than one in a million.
  2. Imagine my shock. Best not to say exactly what I think about him now, he was a very good footballer, I’ll just leave it at that.
  3. Araoye has played a fair number of 21 games of late, so not sure when this injury was. Pearson said (without naming him) that one or two who had been on the bench had been struggling for the 21s so needed to take a step back. Obviously that is history now & presumably everyone there has a fresh start, so will be interesting to see if anyone in the ignored category (which is 5 or 6) do feature in the squad. Certainly the case that at Cardiff with a decimated squad none of them were thought to be worthy of a place on the bench by NP despite it being one short & also including a second goalkeeper.
  4. Pretty much my thoughts. Unless they’re lying it looks like he’s getting no more money than Pearson would have. Tinnion said in his interview last week that only 3 players are out of contract next summer, which suggests as @Davefevs has been hinting, that Weimann has triggered another year, meaning that is presumably Williams, James & King. Pretty sure the likes of Idehen & Wiles-Richards are too, but assume he meant the senior pros.
  5. Funnily enough I was talking about this game on Saturday. I was 11 & it was the first large scale violence outside a ground I ever saw, always remember some Man U fan was getting a right kicking just by the tannery, this stuff became commonplace over the next few years but it was the first time I witnessed it.
  6. To be fair he’s had several other non jobs during that time. Pretty sure LJ used him first to help Massengo settle in, then he had a short spell when he was supposed to be a coach, then under Tinnion he became a part of the scouting operation. He definitely was mentioned when Bajic was signed, though since then he seemed to have been doing a very good Lord Lucan impression until last week. Like another poster I just assumed he had moved on this summer but he’s apparently become the new Rene Gilmartin. My hunch is if he’s in with Tinnion he gets some other “job” in the new set up.
  7. Blackpool, one of the poorest towns in England, houses in one street last year were on sale for about £50k. Pretty sure when Liverpool pulled this stunt to make their capacity larger they offered people £40k for theirs. Houses by our ground, in one of the more expensive Cities in England, an area that has gentrified beyond belief, one house in Ashton Rd sold last year for £640k. Nope, I can’t see any difference there at all- so really don’t understand why the club can’t buy houses people don’t want to sell at this sort of price.
  8. Joined on Saturday “Red” in the username, as someone said to me on Saturday night, definitely a clear Bristol Sport employee.
  9. Spot on. I thought his re-appearance from inside a cupboard or wherever he’s been for months was significant. Basically once Tinnion & JL decided to remove the entire Pearson coaching set up, him & Pat Mountain were all that remained. As you rightly say, our last European signing was in the summer of ‘22, so what’s on earth has he been doing since? Watching games of football in Europe to no purpose. Where do I apply for that (non) job?
  10. Some have been out on loan & are playing for us at 21 level because they weren’t wanted. Our Academy is a big success story but not everyone makes it & I can see a fair few of these doing so at Championship level.
  11. James’ debut last week is the only league start any of that 11 has had this season. Stand by my post of a week or so ago that half of this side won’t be with us next year.
  12. You’re right. A certain person very prominent on a podcast was extremely vocal on here that we should sack him after only about 9 games in. He might pretend he didn’t say that but he definitely did. That opinion turned out well, eh?
  13. Surprised Manning turned them down to join us then. Brave move, unlucky Brookman you delusional gas cock.
  14. Interesting that Thomas is playing instead of Bajic. Max went down injured late on v Sheff Wed, Bajic then warmed up, do hope he’s ok & this is possibly just a precaution.
  15. Where’s King going with less than 6 months left on his contract? He’ll sit tight until the summer and then get released if he has any sense (& he certainly does). Good luck with recruiting “2 or 3” on what we were paying him, too.
  16. He has a good reputation within the game? Decent CV that includes Wolves & Hull, I think? Because he wasn’t part of the Pearson regime (he was there already) he wasn’t in the firing line from the Chuckle Brothers? Could be all of this.
  17. Totally. Certainly seen the comment (repeated last night on SOTC by the BBC Oxford guy) that his press conferences are a bit dull, but that’s a completely different thing. Danny Wilson did this too, his answers could have been scripted for a politician, basically never said anything. There is no indication at all Manning is a yes man, whatever the views on how we got here, to have achieved what he has in football (appointed as head coach for 2 EFL clubs) without any significant playing career shows a lot of determination & drive.
  18. Who is the right wing back then? Pring is presumably the left? How is the midfield setting up? Just naming 3 central defenders isn’t really thinking it through, is it?
  19. Not sure about that, Pearson will have got the remainder of his contract, which he was always getting. Oxford yes though not sure managerial compensation will be all that much. January is of far more interest, we expected TGH to be made permanent but any other expenditure definitely wasn’t going to be sanctioned with Nige in charge.
  20. Not from me, pal. Cotts had managed Forest & Burnley by then.
  21. Yep. I would never try to compare myself to TC but we’re similar in size & build & as you know, I played up front (at a standard about a million times lower). I just thought he worked out what would be best for him & his first touch & layoff play improved, but only an opinion though, isn’t it? Good to see you after the match, lovely to catch up & genuinely appreciate the support from all of you.
  22. And Dean Holden & that was ******* amazing. Keith Millen, Sean O’Driscoll, Derek McInnes..
