  1. Agree with every word. Jarring for me though that some on podcasts who have wanted him out numerous times, then start using this decision to slag off our (clueless) owners when it was what they wanted before.
  2. One of my concerns if he was appointed was how he would understand him.. This bloke speaks English far better than Tinnion does & it is his third (after Danish & German) language. Don’t expect that we even know of his availability, but this is the sort of appointment that would make the decision to sack Pearson far more credible, even though I still don’t agree with it.
  3. That’s because it is his job & not ours. I acknowledged he is a far more polished public performer than our chairman & Tinnion. Low bar but clearly the case & I tell you I definitely know I could speak better publicly than those two. The message, as @Spike has outlined above is delusional, spend a fraction of what you bring in, but keep producing large numbers of Academy players of Championship standard & still finish above sides with parachute payments. It is a flawed business model.
  4. Ipswich have gone along like a train but I expect the rest of the top four to be made up of the 3 relegated sides. Almost like they have some massive inbuilt financial advantage, or something.
  5. Horseshit, but far more expertly presented horseshit.
  6. About to post the same. 14 consecutive wins isn’t for everyone. Not a great result for Ipswich.
  7. Sacked with Mainz at the bottom of the league. His stock was higher when he saved them from relegation after taking over when they had 7 points at the halfway stage. Not say he would definitely join but unlike a guy who won the Europa League recently I think it was at least possible.
  8. This is well worth a watch. Firstly, unsurprisingly for a Dane, he speaks flawless English. Secondly the opposition he is talking about beating, Bayern Munich, their starting XI is just incredible. Tactically this bloke is top drawer, but unlike Glasner I genuinely don’t think he’s out of our league, Mainz is not a big club. Mentioned him a few days ago but watching this I’d be straight on the phone for a chat if I was involved.
  9. People are looking at League One & guessing, (Manning aside) I think. They are top, still unbeaten & in a poor division this year will really fancy their chances of getting back to the Championship. Like Evatt, I just can’t see the attraction of joining us. Oxford are doing well but play in a three sided ground they don’t own, which makes it far more likely to me.

    Nige

At £8m (our record fee) & on around £25k a week I would certainly hope that Kalas wasn’t “too shabby”. The reality sure is grey but I believe for every Josh Brownhill (probably LJ’s best VFM signing) there were sadly at least 2 Marley Watkins & Hakeeb Adelakun’s. That’s before you get to £3.5m for Kasey Palmer & a rumoured £20k a week & there are loads of others. Pearson’s “worst” signing was possibly Simpson, a one year deal, low wage one who he binned off early. Kane Wilson cost a rumoured £200k, he clearly didn’t rate him, but again he didn’t hang around for years, as happened under LJ. I do try to be balanced but some on here are suggesting Pearson had no part in slashing the wage bill, which is ridiculous.
  11. It wasn’t a “high majority” it was 56% when only just over 400 people voted. Likewise the overwhelming vote to keep him recently was a very small sample size of our support. You have cherry picked some very odd signings, one was a free agent outside the transfer window (who did excellently then), another was sold on without making a loss & Bajic was a low wage, free transfer. You talk about spending money, 6 of the 7 you mention cost £500k in total & we got some of that back on Wilson. I would argue Pearson’s signings (in the round, not picking on more questionable ones) in value for money terms pissed all over his two predecessors.
  12. Was on the shortlist for the Rangers job. He won the Europa League in 2022, has twice won promotion to the Bundesliga & the sides he’s been in charge of qualified for Europe 7 years (2107-2023) running. Admire the ambition but this would suggest he’s way out of our current league. Can you imagine Tinnion presenting him with a list of players to sign? If KITR is saying the bloke on the shortlist is German, he’s also Austrian.
  13. Hard to establish credibility after a comment like this. Plymouth at home a few weeks ago? Win at Swansea? Not sure how often you watch us, but this is a fairly stupid remark.
  14. He didn’t “buy” him. He was a free agent. It was a mistake though & a player I would have preferred had never played for us. However even Alex Ferguson signed a lot of duds in his time & when compared to LJ (how long a list do you want?) or even Holden’s brief spell (he signed Chris Brunt, who was arguably worse than Simpson) it was very minor.
  15. Nige was in charge for 2 and a half years, to the point where if you listened to his press conferences (much as I enjoyed many of them) you could often anticipate what he was going to say. He must have said he wanted an equitable wage structure about thirty times. I actually forgot to reference Tomas Kalas in those we have lost to reduce the wage bill & he was the most obvious example where it was not the case. Doing this (paying James even more than Kalas) would be the complete opposite of that, so strikes me as utter bollocks.
  16. Thought James was out for a month?
  17. So to be clear you are saying James is on “more” than £27k a week? You joined here a couple of days ago but know this for certain? Interesting.

    Nige

No point in covering old ground but certainly more than possible that Nige moved any potential treatment forward once he was sacked. Probably was going to do this post QPR otherwise. As for his alleged absence from the training ground, he was a leader who empowered others. Some will never understand or use it as a stick to beat him, but it is a widespread management technique.
  19. Odd, isn’t it? I would have thought a heavily edited, 2 minute, in house video where the questions sounded like they came from CBeebies would have made it really obvious? Shocking that the bookies didn’t realise what they wanted from an inarticulate, bumbling fool.
  20. Sims is being interviewed on Robins TV tomorrow, in what way can he be seen as impartial here?
  21. Not a chance Matty James is on £27k a week. Not saying he’s not well paid but never that much.
  22. FFS, the “it could be worse” argument trotted out yet again. Eff off.
  23. 100%. Front up, say there was a clash of personalities & we have decided to go in a different direction. Don’t have to agree with that, but it is a coherent argument. Lying about budgets & questioning Rennie’s professional opinion shows them up for what they truly are.
  24. I checked, it is 5 sides with parachute payments, so Norwich & Watford plus the 3 who came down. Just to use our goalkeepers as an example we have Max, who has come through the academy, no way is he getting paid top dollar. His understudy Bajic has minimal league experience, mainly in the French second division, I reckon he’s on about £3k a week. Top ten budget? My arse.
