  1. Anyone who reads the forum regularly? It’s “would have” by the way..
  2. So isn’t the logic behind that argument we could have sacked him before when a majority on a completely unrepresentative poll wanted to, but didn’t. Now in a similar poll the overwhelming majority (similarly unrepresentative numbers) don’t want this, so we have. Holds absolutely no water at all, sacking someone because we have lost 2 games & blaming him & Rennie for the injuries is horseshit.
  3. Simply don’t believe it. By top ten does he really mean a budget that is higher than all but 9 other teams in our division? So once you take out the parachute payment teams (6?) we still have a higher budget than virtually everyone else? Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Stoke? Cardiff? Birmingham? West Brom? At least 3 of these? This is after shedding Bentley, Dasilva, Martin, Klose & the young talent Semenyo, Scott, from the wage bill. We apparently have reduced it from £30m in LJ’s time to £17m under Nige. Not having it, it’s a lie.
  4. What Jon has in his life are people who will tell him he’s amazing. I can’t imagine why they are “mates” of the son of a billionaire, myself.
  5. So someone who last coached in Germany but who isn’t necessarily German?
  6. Mainz sacked Bo Svensson today. He was extremely highly rated there outperforming both Klopp & Tuchel in their spells there until this season. I don’t know anywhere near enough about European coaches to have an expert view, but when Brighton appointed De Zerbi the other guy in the frame was at Bodo Glimt in Norway Kjetil Knudsen, he’s still there & they are running away with the league again..
  7. Serious question, do you know when SL last saw us play live? How many times a season do you think he actually does? Been at 2 recent rugby matches, I believe.
  8. As you only joined OTIB on Saturday & have been prolifically posting since (!), I have no idea how long you’ve “supported” City.. No way will Weimann be our CF, it will be either Conway or Cornick. I really can’t see all 3 players that have returned to training recently starting, definitely one, possibly two, certainly not three.
  9. Already been announced that Ali Hines (U21) & Kalifa Cisse (absolutely no idea what he’s been doing for the past few months, certainly not any coaching, recruitment?) are doing so.
  10. I love him. What a bloke, that’s the type of person Pearson recruited for our club. Honest, passionate, funny & cares. We have had some right nobodies as assistant but the calibre around Nige was top drawer. He’ll also be gone in the next couple of weeks so the mediocrities & incompetents can stop being threatened. I guess I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t play about 2 minutes of it, three quarters of the way through? Intrigued as to what was “missing”..
  11. Steve McQueen & Sylvia Kristel. ”All opponents are difficult”. Earth, Wind and Fire.
  12. Whatever we think of him, he’s a footballer, so his job in these interviews is to say something along the lines of “disappointed, we’ve trained well & are looking forward to the game”. Not a criticism of him but 99% of player interviews aren’t worth watching.
  13. Exactly what I was about to say. Benarous too, back from hamstring issues of late. None of this is exactly “miraculous” though the prominence of them in the training video is certainly interesting from a PR perspective.
  14. 100%. Told this story before but my old man was working with a bloke who played for Patchway Town at this time. Cooper gave the bloke a month’s contract but he didn’t feel that it was long enough for him to give up his job, he then played 4 games in the first team, was told by TC we didn’t see enough to offer him anything longer & because he had taken his holiday for this, went straight back to working in his old job. I know it was the fourth division but that was how we operated at the time, basically 14 players, Coops (who played as well), Clive Middlemas & Alex Lockhart. Cooper brought in Glyn Riley, Alan Crawford & Tom Ritchie, he inherited John Shaw, but every other player we had was an inexperienced kid.
  15. My guess is a blunt conversation that you’re under contract, you’re the most senior of the coaching team & so we want you to hold the fort until the new man is in place. Nothing else but that & I still think he’ll be gone within a month.
  16. Sacked, same as Euell.
  17. Surely the context of those two post WW1 makes it fairly obvious? No one else alive bar Alan Dicks has got us promoted to the top flight & he then kept us there for 4 glorious years. Cooper took over a bankrupt club in the fourth division with a squad of about 10 kids plus John Shaw & then revitalised us. No other managers can compare to them.
  18. Rule on here; Must mention Reading or Sheffield Wednesday. Must not mention Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth, Swansea, etc, etc. Spot on about Tan, a man who wears a replica shirt over his actual shirt & seemingly doesn’t understand where your trousers should end, but still more successful in football terms than Guernsey.
  19. About to post exactly the same. I rated Pearson, certainly higher than a few posting in this thread & the Bristol Sport bots. However if our owner chose to name a stand after himself, rather than the only man alive who has managed us in the top flight or the one who turned us around at our very lowest ebb, he sure isn’t naming one after anyone else.
  20. A loan spell of 5 bloody weeks! I read someone post on here “he loves the area” he was effing hardly here. Robins isn’t going to leave Coventry & after what he achieved last season I would be amazed if they sacked him just because they’re struggling at present. Pretty sure they were still bottom half at Xmas last season yet made the playoff final. Their fans & owner will remember this.
  21. Pearson was sacked on Sunday, much as I’m still disgusted by that, I can’t really complain he hasn’t been replaced inside 5 days. It will not be Curtis Fleming.
  22. Osman? Pulis? Pretty sure we have tried that route..
  23. Son of the late Ray, appointed as the new Gillingham manager today. Don’t worry, I’m not suggesting him, more intrigued by a comment made by their American chairman today that they were looking for someone to play “brave, front foot football”. Sound familiar? There’s clearly a textbook for chairmen that him & JL have both read, isn’t there? Meaningless dribble, isn’t it?
  24. And 15. Even a clearly edited, soft questions in house produced video showed them to be inarticulate, weak & unable to provide a clear narrative as to why the decision was made. It appears to officially be that some of our players got injured & so we lost our last two games. However you are bloody naive if you believe that.
  25. In the bottom three (which to be fair isn’t exactly a shock for Rotherham) but that would be a very tough sell. I don’t have a preferred candidate & am totally bemused by the whole thing, but if I was them I’d be looking in Europe for our next “head coach”. That set up is well established there & so the remit would be exactly what they’re used to. Can’t see it though, Tinnion doesn’t strike me as someone who would either have the contacts or could work well with a foreign coach.
