  1. Trying to think of a benefit of having Manning as the gaffer, and an obvious one could be using his former Hammers connections to bring in some young ones for a season loan?

Maybe the next Declan Rice, or going back a decade or two - the next Joe Cole?  It would be a big boast for the squad for next season.  I'm still waiting for us to bring in our next Tammy and a West Ham player would go down a treat.

  2. Good question, but I'd keep them both, I love both of them!

But if James does want to leave, I'll tip my hat and respect his decision, he's been a quality player for us.

AH TO HELL WITH THAT, PLEASE STAY, MATTY!

  3. Unbelievable saves today, especially the two (3?) from Vardy.  His reflexes and agility are truly sensational.

Hope he stays here for a while yet, but also curious, is he Premier League bound or is this his natural level?  What would his value be?

I've no idea his contract length but would definitely give him another 3 years.  We do still need a better back up keeper though.

  4. Can't wait for this game, after a break the next match always feels like it's gonna be something special.

I have the strange feeling it's going to be a 2-2 draw.

Both sets of fans bloody love Pearson but he was sacked by both clubs.  Football really is a funny one.

I guess almost all managers have to be sacked at some stage, just part of their journey and life.

  5. how do you know that's a slogan at the HPC?

It's just a stupid phrase on a red screen, I can't imagine for one second that is used to try to motivate players! (because obviously it's nonsense), unless they were about to play a game of Family Fortunes and good old Les Dennis was waiting somewhere off of camera.

Does anyone think we're trying to find ludicrous reasons to bash the Lansdowns? Because I do!

  6. Good luck with getting your hands on the tickets, although your trip might be best served if you give the game a swerve!

Saying that, I bought my ticket this week, and am still hoping to see a thrilling game, although I'm ready to be disappointed.

  7. It's now or never, I want to see him as City manager, just to live that experience, you know we all secretly want it!

I can see Warnock being the man to take City to the play off places, or at least give us a season never to forget!

Let's make fan power force it to happen.

Or have I just lost the plot and maybe suffering from temporary insanity?  I'd take anyone instead of bland vanilla man.

  8. I'd give it to Frank Lampard.  I was hoping he'd get the job last time round.

Like him or not, it would enhance City's reputation again and he'd be able to secure a decent batch of Chelsea youngsters!

I think he was very impressive at this level with Derby.

  9. Having this chat at the game yesterday and can't figure out what's changed after that quality home win.

Since then we've turned in the three worst city games we've seen for years.

But after Southampton, the mood on here was bouyant and the future looked rosy, play offs were being spoke about with relish.

How can it all change around so quickly?  The sudden drop off seems almost impossible tbh!!!!

  10. I just don't get the reason.  He's generally been a successful chairman and owner, imo, and has seen us grow beyond recognition within his time.

So why risk everything with his apparent apathy and lack of drive?

It makes no sense whatsoever.  Manning is one of the worst managerial appointments I've ever seen and should have been nowhere near to our top job.

I compare us to Brighton and Tony Bloom, about the same size, scale and club history, we've often shared the same league with them, but the main difference is Tony Bloom has invested wisely, recruited the necessary footballing talent to succeed, lit the touch paper and stood back to watch the explosion.

We've got SL seemingly uninterested and leaving his son and a former club legend to run the operation.

FFS, he's got a club on paper with huge potential, massive catchment area and scope to expand significantly.  I'd love to ask SL what is stopping him from taking City to the next level.  Is it fear of failure?

It's clear that the current model of staff running the club are not fit for purpose, and like others have said, would suit a League One set up, and that's putting it politely.

  11. My elephant in the room is that Liam Manning is a nice guy, too nice to be a decent manager / coach.  You need to have that fire, that killer instinct to succeed, and he doesn't appear to have it.

I can guarantee now he will stay a few years and nothing will really change.

We need the manager with aggression that transfer to the players, the sort of passion you see on the touchline.

Manning is definitely a bit too vanilla.

  12. Nah it's not tinpot in the slightest, god I actually hate that word.

It's a shirt to celebrate a time in the past, just a retro shirt, and they've found a fantastic match to tie it in with.  It's not like it's being released just to celebrate that victory!

And it's actually been quite nice because even though I've supported City since the mid 90's, I was not aware of that game!  So it's gave me a chance to catch up on a great moment from the past.  Not sure how the hell I've never heard of that result before mind you!

  13. Amazing to think he's been at City since 2013.  He is now without a doubt good enough to be our number 1.

Before this season I had doubts about whether he would make it at this level, but I don't have those doubts anymore.  He's a quality keeper and will be even better next year.

I also feel that Bajic should have played some first team games to see his ability.  Not to replace Max, but to see if he's also good enough for this level, otherwise it does seem like a waste of a salary.

Being a number 2 keeper and never playing must be the most frustrating thing on the planet.

  14. Life must be looking and tasting pretty good for Liam this morning.  What a performance last night.

I think he's a fantastic young coach, cutting his cloth at this level, and improving City each week.

    The future is exciting.

It's also fair to credit the board and owners for the progress the club are making.

Life feels good for all of us this morning!
