  1. By far the most interesting person I (sort of) know (do internet forums count as knowing someone?).  Your life is an incredible adventure, and no doubt would make a good book or two, and a decent Sunday evening film.

Perhaps, in the non footie section you could pen the saga of your life - if you don't mind us nosey buggers prying over every detail!

Around the world and you bump into a City fan and a Preston fan.  Marvellous stuff.

I'll take your wish for a 4-0 win and predict the same score line.  Perhaps if enough of us predict the same score, the combined will of the City collective will force the score to manifest as reality.

  2. On the next free weekend (international break) I suggest we all travel en masse to the places mentioned / photographed above, decked out in City shirts, and go on a guided tour.

Havanatopia to lead the walk and talk.

A new City rambling club is born!

Today's game, a 2-1 City win, to celebrate LJ 2020.

COME ON YOU REDS, LET'S MAKE OUR WAY BACK TOWARDS THE TOP SIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. A fine morning to you, Havanatopia, and as suggested in your opening paragraph, there is something uninspiring about a match against Ipswich.  The tractor boys are a rather unglamorous outfit, but they do still have Mad Mick McCarthy at the helm, so at least he adds a source of interest.

What grips my attention about today is the fact that Ipswich have the same points as us, so it's going to be a refreshing change not to play a team settled in the top 3 of the league.

On that point, I find it amazing that we've just played teams currently ranked places 2nd, 3rd, 4th.  Frankly, coming away from that sequence bereft of points is no need for concern, especially when you look at the exciting, attacking football we produced for large patches of the two away games.

Today's game has all the makings of a dour, hard-fought match; I'm going for City to score the deciding goal, and Wilbs to come from the bench to grab it in the last 15 minutes.  The safe money would be on a 1-1 draw.  Here's hoping I'm wrong and it turns into a six-goal thriller....

I'm sat on the fence regarding city's current form.  on one hand we are 10th not far off the play offs and yet I don't think we have been  firing on all cylinders for a whole game.

Then on the other hand I'm frustrated that due to defensive lapses at the end of games we have thrown away points.  The barnsley game we should of defended better and the same yesterday,  which if we had  defended better in both we would of been 4 points better off and in the play offs.

Then again we have had quite a few lucky games early in the season so maybe I  shouldn't be complaining too much.

I'm sure we'll learn a lot from the recent poor patch to help the team massively for the rest of the season.  Lee is still learning at this level, and every result will help his progression as a top coach.

The next one is going to be tough, for obvious reasons, but there is still no reason we can't go to Reading and surprise them.  If we do lose, then we have to start afresh at home to Ipswich and grab a few wins, restore confidence, keep the team nestled nicely in the top of the table and enjoy the rest of the campaign.

  5. Ah, the City match thread returns, thank God.  We have our Saturday back!

Agree, today and next Saturday will be tough games, and a bloody good marker of how good we are against the clubs that will lurk ominously around the play off places.

A point will be a good return, a win would be outstanding.

I'm going for a 1-1 draw, with Kevin Abraham scoring our goal, assisted by Kevin Tomlin.

    Good day everyone,

Good day to you, sir.  Like others have said, another quality match-day thread, here's hoping you see an equally quality game today.

I expect fireworks on the pitch to match the skyline around Ashton Gate.  A cracking game with plenty of excitement.  I wouldn't begrudge a City defeat, as long as we look dangerous and impress the folks watching at home.

I'm also tipping a 1-1 draw, with the real chance someone will sneak a late winner.

    Tomlin to score for us.

If we can remember how to get the ball to Tammy in the penalty area I am sure he will... sadly we seem to have forgotten how we did / do it.

Yep, seems amazing how quickly things change on the pitch in football.  First couple of months and Tammy was there to finish almost everything, rebounds, stray back passes, the works.  Now, we can't seem to give him these opportunities. Surely something will fall his way again soon?

  8. Great read, as always is and always will be; love the memory you've shared of walking to the ground with your father.  Wish I was going there today to see the exact same sight at the other side of the hill.

City to win today, 2-1, with Tammy and Tomlin to both register.  Hope the fantastic city fans who do travel can sing many renditions of 'One for the Bristol City'.

  9. Great match day thread write up again, Hava.  I'm not sure how it's escaped me all these years, but I've never heard of the war cup games, remarkable stuff.

For all the terrible decisions made at Blackburn, it's also remarkable that they've not fallen already to League 2, which will surely be on the cards in their future.

I am !00% behind the 3-1 city score today, and am tempted by that Skybet!

    COME ON YOU REDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Looking forwards to seeing the Lansdown Stand heaving from top to bottom.
