  1. Heard that one of the medium bosses was trying to tinker with team selection.
  2. We've had 3 key players come back from injury, and got a rid of a manager who seemed to have lot the plot (although he may well have had reasons for that), and our opponents would have been fielding a weakened team - so no reason not to want to play. We will have Tuesday night games every week into April now, assuming there are no further postponements. I think the majority of teams just want to keep playing now, as most have been affected by having matches called off due to Covid. Hoping that we can all be back in the stadiums for next season.
  3. The covers were put on the pitch after the game on Tuesday night. When the covers were removed today, there was one small area of the pitch which was frozen - portable heaters were put around this area, which resolved the problem. There is a video of a groundsman inserting a probe in the ground, you can see that the ground is not frozen and the soil temperature is above freezing. Once the game had been called off, Rovers suggested that it could be played tomorrow, EFL were fine with this, it just needed Swindon to agree - but apparently they cannot travel to Bristol tomorrow (which is their perrogative). Our CEO has complained to the EFL and referees' association about the ref's decision to call the game off. Swindon have your young keeper on loan, who will not have had much time to train with his new team mates. They have also suspended 3 first team players for missing a team meeting - yet you think it was us who wanted the game called off! Still, don't let the facts get in the way of your blinkered opinion.
  4. No more random than your 4 players who were on the receiving end last season.
  5. Really - I presume you know the person who sent it then? Or maybe you're making an ill informed assumption. The "message" wasn't sent from within the UK. Over the last few months there has been an increase in racial abuse via social media, directed at black footballers who are being targeted by ignorant individuals from a handful of countries. Probably the same countries who get away with abusing black players at international matches.
  6. He kept MK up, the following season there were a lot of injuries, including the two main strikers. I was surprised that, given those circumstances, he wasn't given a bit more time, but you never can tell with football.
  7. From the CEO's interview today, I don't think it will be another Garner-type. Tisdale being appointed wouldn't surprise me - he lives in Bath, so no major upheaval for him re. family etc, and he fits the club's brief fairly well. Maybe he'll bring Andy Tilson in on the coaching staff, as they worked together at Exeter, and our defence needs sorting out.
  8. I don't think you need to lose any sleep - never going to happen.
  9. Not always! I think it was after the play-off game - a group of Gasheads were walking up a lane near the ground, and an old lady stepped out of her back gate and belted one of them around the head with a frying pan. Has to be one of the strangest "weapons" used in fv.
  10. Depends how many beers you've had! ??
  11. Harry Redknap's dog is writing the cheque as we speak.
  12. My Dad used to play for a team called Bath Rovers, in about 1950 I think - before I was a twinkle in his eye!
  13. The bloody speakers hardly ever work properly, so this bloke must have ears like a bat if he heard something.
  14. No, strangely the "unnamed barman" saw her leave the pub, punch a horse outside, and then saw her back inside the pub finishing her drink - yet the CCTV didn't pick up a trace of her!
  15. He is called Brian, so I can understand the confusion regarding who he is. He's an old Tote Ender, I think he's on Twitter as Tote End Brian (or something similar) - I don't know him personally. Brian Seymour Smith used to post on there under his own name. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right - happy days! ?
  16. It certainly isn't Brian Seymour Smith.
  17. I wondered if the brothers now have more individual financial autonomy, following the passing of their father last month.
  18. Wasn't Jimmy Hill the actual instigator though, getting the final score of the other crucial relegation game announced on the tannoy before your game had finished?
  19. The flare was thrown by a Bromley "fan", when they thought they'd scored - presumably a glory hunter who didn't know that they played on a plastic pitch.
  20. Not looking for any excuses, just putting forward some possible reasons, the family thing being just one of them. He's certainly spent a lot of time away from home, so maybe that's a red herring from him, the other reasons I gave are facts - and maybe he feels Mansfield will provide him with more opportunities - a new job isn't necessarily about where you start, but where you think you will end up.
  21. His first opportunity to be a Manager, no brainer really as, if he'd turned it down, a Manager coming in from elsewhere would probably have wanted to bring his own backroom staff, and he'd have been out of a job.
  22. Can't blame him - his family live in Sheffield, so it would be much closer to home. Mansfield have a decent ground, training ground and some money for players - we don't tick any of those boxes. No room for sentiment in football, if it's a good deal for him then he has to take the opportunity.
